The product and customer service is extremely efficient but I would like to see more research and code examples.
* The continuous online scanning capabilities and reporting features. * The SaaS product features accessible from a browser make managing our online systems easy. * The ability to review security items quickly along with being able to retest vulnerabilities on our schedule make the Sentinel product an invaluable tool for our company’s product security requirements.

We maintain high code standards with effective static code analysis and integration
SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) could be improved on the reporting front. Instead of grouping, I would prefer to scan the code as part of development and then generate a report on a daily basis among different units or projects, which is currently complicated. We need to change it to more of a portfolio report, where configuring or setting up things on the portfolio requires tagging at the ADO level.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The SaaS product features accessible from a browser make managing our online systems easy."
"SonarCloud is overall a good tool for identifying code smells, bugs, and code duplication, but we've found that using Android Lint is more effective for our needs."
"We have a big organization with a lot of applications and all of our critical applications are on this platform."
"SonarQube is easy for me; I am recruiting buggy code with this, and it is reporting, showing that this code should not be like this and the reason for it, such as advising when you should declare a static function or why you should or should not initialize a variable, which is an amazing feature."
"It is working fine. It provides a good value for money."
"I like the by-default policies that are they, as they seem to cover most of what I need."
"The Java SonarQube version, which is free to use, was extremely helpful and I suggested to my managers that we purchase a license."
"If you want to have your code scanned and timed then this is a good tool."
"Issue Explanations: Documentation with detailed samples. Helps in growing technical knowledge and re-writing logic to conforming solutions."

Cons

"I would like to see more research and code examples for the vulnerabilities identified to better assist us with our remediation process."
"This product is good but it is not meant to be a single solution for all issues."
"Lacks sufficient visibility and documentation."
"A robust credential scanner would be a huge bonus as it would remove the need for yet another niche product with additional cost, also gives the benefit of a single pane of glass view, although we still need WhiteSource Bolt for third-party library scanning."
"The solution has a very shallow SAST scanning; that is something that can be improved."
"SonarQube could be improved by implementing inter-procedural code analysis capabilities, allowing for a more comprehensive detection of defects and vulnerabilities across the entire codebase."
"However, it takes a fair amount of effort to figure out how to get everything up and running."
"There is need for support for the additional languages and ease of use in adding new rules for detecting issues."
"In discussions with the security team, there are many other products that are available that perform better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution is cheaper than other products."
"The tool's pricing is reasonable."
"We're using their free Community Edition version."
"The price of SonarCloud is not expensive, it goes by the lines of code. 1 million lines per code are approximately 4,000 USD per year. If you need 2 million lines of code you would double the annual cost."
"This product is open source and very convenient."
"The free version of SonarQube does everything that we need it to."
"I use the full trial version of SonarQube."
"SonarQube is an open-source product that can be used free of charge."
