Good organizational management functionality and technical support
We use SAP HCM to store and manage organizational data such as OM data, job profile data, solution data, HC data, and call center data. Currently, we are in the process of migrating our SAP HR system to Workday. This is the process that I am involved in at the moment The most valuable feature is…

Users can directly see the menu, click on what they need, and know what to do
Every system was really hard to set up initially, but I think Workday was okay because it had a really user-friendly UI and UX. When we were implementing the system, we could directly see what we were doing with each feature. So, it was better than others. I would rate my experience with the initial setup an eight out of ten, with ten being easy and one being difficult. The deployment took one and a half years but that was just the first phase. We needed to keep upgrading the system. So, the first phase established a good foundation, and almost everything was in place. So, it was one and a half years.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The integration between the different models like personnel administration, work management, payroll, and time management are the most valuable and key features."
"It is a scalable solution. There are three administrators maintaining the solution: an HR person, a payroll person, and one backup."
"All our employee data, like performance and payroll, is managed through SAP HCM."
"I think HCM was the most stable for me...It is a very scalable product."
"The feature I like most in SAP HCM is its effectiveness for talent management."
"The most valuable feature is Organizational Management (OM)."
"The most valuable feature is the Personnel Administration."
"The compliance management functionality is quite good."
"It stores everything for the employee. It has also been able to store the information that we use for our payroll demand."
"It's actually a cloud-native solution and based on the community for development. It is a very good open architecture and able to interconnect with other systems. And it is very stable and very fast in terms of response."
"It's easy to set up."
"I like its UI and UX. When we were using Oracle or SAP, the UI/UX wasn't very user-friendly for the employees."
"The most valuable features of the solution are the usability, learning, and compliance tools."
"We have fewer systems, less manual data entry, and less processing."
"The payroll and benefits engine is the most valuable Workday solution in my opinion. It is also easy to access."
"The solution was very good at reconfiguration and customization of their software. It helped us to meet federal regulations."

Cons

"SAP HCM cannot integrate with other third-party applications. One of the drawbacks we encounter with SAP HCM, specifically in payroll management, is the limitation regarding changing payroll areas within the same month. For instance, if an employee transitions from staff to non-staff status during the month, we face difficulties because the system doesn't allow us to change the payroll."
"The breadth of functionality offered by SAP HCM comes at a cost."
"I would like it to move more towards a single data space, a single data source. SAP as a platform relies on multiple data sources because traditionally, it's been bolted together by the acquisition of other products rather than a single database. That's why there are lots of points of failure and lots of required points of integration. They need a single integration point."
"The setup comes with a set of challenges as well."
"It is a bit tedious and manual to work with."
"There needs to be a renovation of the interface and functionalities of the talent management modules."
"Reports need to be added on the time management side."
"There are already success factors for the cloud solution which cannot be integrated into S/4 HANA."
"There is a lot of complexity in the configuration of this solution."
"They don't offer any backend database access. This is one limitation that I found in this product. Workday hasn't opened up about what kind of database they are into, which can make it easy for the technical team to emulate issues. It would be good if they can offer backend access to the technical team. It would be helpful if they can also provide a Troubleshooting Guide that we can use to troubleshoot issues. When we have an issue, there are very limited resources to refer to."
"The user interface could be modernized somehow."
"One potential feature that could be added is the ability to streamline business processes through quick tips and guided tours. This would allow for a smoother and more guided experience for colleagues as they navigate through different processes and steps. It would be similar to a guidance system or a step-by-step tutorial that could be added after the business process to guide users through it."
"We would like to see improvement in the mobile app variant of this solution. The time sheet entry and approval, and the geo-tagging features all need to have their functionality updated, in order to be comparable with other products on the market."
"Workday does not support many Korean language features. So, it will be great if they have some development on the Korean language side – then it will be really powerful in our market."
"The product must include payroll features."
"They could provide a web chatbot feature in the dashboard for Workday."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"You pay per license. There not any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"I believe HCM is a little expensive, but I don't know the exact price because I'm involved with the sales team. However, I think the price must be reasonable because many organizations are migrating their current ERPs to SAP. It's excellent software, and the price is competitive."
"Licensing is pretty complex. SAP does not have a straight forward way of licensing, and it differs from client to client."
"We have an annual license for this solution, and the price depends on the number of users."
"The product is expensive."
"The pricing is not reasonable at all."
"The solution is cheap."
"In my view, this product is a waste of money for SMB because there are much better products available and licensing is an issue."
"You have the license fee per module, and then you have a kind of annual training fee, which is a kind of add-on. I wouldn't say it is exhaustive; it is minor. Licensing is pretty transparent for most of the part."
"Workday is an expensive solution."
"It is on a yearly basis."
"With a bigger budget, I would recommend SAP."
"I would rate the solution’s pricing a six out of ten."
"I rate the product’s pricing a ten out of ten."
"Workday is moderately priced - I'd rate its pricing three out of five."
"It has an annual subscription rate, but I'm not sure how it will work."

Hi, is HCM the only requirement with the organization, or are other solutions also required? As far as HCM is concerned, SAP is comprehensive and can be tailored as per requirements. Thanks - Ashwin
