Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Advanced document forensics has strengthened fraud detection and has improved compliance reporting
Being long in the industry, they have accumulated many use cases on document fraud. From what they told me, there are more than 40 document frauds that they have identified and trained the AI on. In the Philippines, which is probably not updated when it comes to document fraud, knowing that there are so many gives them a sense of assurance. The banks I speak with do not have data scientists. Having all this AI trained on such a number of document frauds already puts them ahead of the fraudsters. Most of the banks here are currently exploring either developing from the ground up or acquiring a package. Resistant AI Document, given its track record with major financial institutions here and the number of document fraud cases it has, provided them with much more compliance with the anti-money laundering requirements they are pursuing. They have strengthened fraud detection and eliminated financial mules in their database. I believe they have improved in terms of strengthening fraud detection because of the patterns they see. There are still a lot of false positives, but it gives them much more accuracy in terms of detecting fraud. The Anti-Money Laundering Council in the Philippines requires reports on a more periodic basis, and in terms of compliance, they are now able to provide such reports on a quicker turnaround time.

Automation has transformed invoice extraction and has reduced manual processing time dramatically
When it comes to improvements in UiPath IXP, there is a challenge with different languages, particularly Arabic invoices or handwritten ones, where there is some mismatch or difference in extraction. This could be improved. For instance, if there is a "Z" available on the screen, it may be identified as "2." Improvements in these two areas from the extraction point of view are necessary, along with considerations regarding pricing levels. In terms of support, UiPath is performing very well. Whenever we require assistance from UiPath, it has been positive. However, I would suggest that there is room for improvement in identifying complex different layout invoices, particularly for handwritten text, since there is potential for improvement in that area.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use IQ Bot for invoice processing. It can be any type of document. It could be a PDF or any sort of document. It will convert those PDFs into CSV files, which is a structured format. It takes it from an unstructured to structured format. That is why we use IQ Bot."
"The impact on efficiency from Document Automation is significant, as it has given us approximately 70 to 80 percent of savings, with almost close to 90 percent efficiency and cost savings of approximately 70 to 80 percent of an FTE per person."
"We are able to create robotic tasks in a short time."
"The management works well."
"The most valuable feature of Automation Anywhere right now is its low-code, no-code framework, which allows us to build a lot of templates that are both repeatable and reusable over time."
"I don't think one feature is more valuable than any other. In my opinion, the value is in the totality of the platform. It is easy to use for our developers with a well laid out UI and many canned tools. The Control Room is very easy to navigate and mostly intuitive to use."
"This solution is valuable because it can automate tasks which would otherwise be left for us to process manually."
"By automating those processes we achieved high ROI, great customer satisfaction, better STP, reduced manual work, reduced processing time, high accuracy, and 24/7 working capacity with the AA bots."
"When we conducted testing on a proof of concept, the output was excellent."
"UiPath enables us to automate manual tasks and duplicate them easily. The processes are highly accurate."
"It's helped us free up time for other staff projects."
"The most valuable feature is key-value pair and table extraction."
"What I appreciate most about UiPath Document Understanding is that it's a good introduction tool for customers to use, and it can be deployed quickly."
"The highly visual and user-friendly interface was a standout feature."
"We have seen a measurable difference in processing time with UiPath IXP, as previously the processing of 1000 plus invoices would require six to seven FTEs working for 10 to 15 days, and now we accomplish this in a couple of days with UiPath IXP due to the faster processing time."
"UiPath Document Understanding cuts down a lot of order processing time and agents' time, saving both human effort, which in turn translates to better cost efficiency."
"UiPath Document Understanding offers multiple types of extractors, which we can use to extract information from documents in a variety of ways."

Cons

"One area for improvement in Automation Anywhere (AA) is its monitoring system. It's not that good. Both scalability and stability are also areas for improvement in the tool."
"We have faced some downtime and crashes with the system, but with the cooperation of the Automation Anywhere team, we have been able to contain that."
"We have used the technical support. I am quite unhappy with the support part."
"There is still a way to go for Automation Anywhere where we can see improvement."
"We are at an inflection point where we have automated so much that just keeping the lights on certainly takes 20% to 50% of the time, depending on the time of year. Being able to enable the stakeholders is one of my main focuses. If we are automating their process, I want them to continue owning that as much as possible. We are just expanding on the bot insights. From a security perspective, there have been some challenges for us getting our customers in there from a role-level security perspective and making sure that they have full access to the control room and their automation after it is automated."
"The customer service could be improved."
"I'd love to see the ability to build web or mobile applications that are integrated with Automation Anywhere bots, so that a user can work on a web interface directly. Then, it can be linked to the Automation Anywhere bots in the background. They just hit a button, and all the data or information will be used by the bot to do some process in the back end."
"The original setup was easy. What was difficult was adding licenses. I went a month where I was paying for licenses that I couldn't use, for various reasons. That was painful."
"The pricing was relatively expensive for the Philippine market, but given that the bank is among the top three in the Philippines, it was acceptable to them."
"UiPath Document Understanding has difficulty identifying handwritten documents, and there is room for improvement."
"When it comes to improvements in UiPath IXP, there is a challenge with different languages, particularly Arabic invoices or handwritten ones, where there is some mismatch or difference in extraction."
"There are also problems with handwritten documents. The results from those are not 90 percent accurate. With scanned and native PDFs, it is 90 to 99 percent accurate, but the accuracy of handwritten documents is somewhat less. If they could improve on that, it would also be helpful."
"If there were more integrations with Veracode or the AWS server, so we don't have to completely transfer our data and keep data on our servers, that might increase security."
"The interface has room for improvement."
"Existing models have room for improvement."
"UiPath Document Understanding's ability to handle diverse document formats, including scans and signatures, needs improvement."
"A lot of coding is required to make handwriting decoding happen; it's not so easy as plug and play."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is somewhere in the middle. The price and value of Automation Anywhere are better than UiPath. The pricing is good globally. It could be a little bit cheaper, but it is good."
"The pricing and licensing of Automation Anywhere plays an important rule in the Indian market because in the Indian market $10,000 USD is too much. Hence, the pricing tends to go down depending on the customer relationship with the partner: A starter pack is $10,000 and an enterprise pack is $100,000. If you go through an implementation partner, you can get good deals. They can save some money."
"Automation Anywhere is cheaper than UiPath and Blue Prism. From a market point of view, Automation Anywhere is reasonable. Any organization can adopt Automation Anywhere."
"I advise others that even as of right now, the setup cost and licensing cost to automate bots on Automation Anywhere is steep but it is worth the investment!"
"It has good licensing costs which are average for the market."
"Approximately, for a developer, it is around $750 for a license a year. For Bot Runners, it is about $550."
"Automation Anywhere is flexible in terms of costing and licensing."
"I do not know the price, but I am told that it is cheaper than UiPath."
Information not available
"We received a 60-day free trial before having to purchase a license to continue using UiPath Document Understanding."
"The price is on the high end."
"I used the community version, so there was no fee."
"The solution’s cost increases for machine learning or artificial intelligence because we have to go for UiPath Orchestrator."
"For the licensing part, in our company, we initially started off with a monthly plan, but yearly plans are also there. Cost-wise, UiPath Document Understanding is good since it provides flexibility in its pricing."
"UiPath Document Understanding offers fair pricing, primarily if you consider the number of resources and human work the solution reduces, plus the ROI you can get from it."
"UiPath Document Understanding is considered a bit expensive compared to other options like Microsoft Azure, which can offer similar quality at a more affordable rate."
"I find the pricing to be somewhat on the higher side."
