Less expensive than some competing solutions, but it's hard to handle logistics management at scale
We're having problems with logistics and warehouse management, and we don't know if we have the right module from Penta. When shipments come into our warehouse, they have to plug it into the Penta system and find the right place to store them. They have to go through the same process on the way out. Our production department has to do the same thing each time to prepare the material for production and get the goods out of the store. It takes a lot of time. I don't know if there are any automated solutions for it. We also do internal manufacturing orders from the German branch of our company. We send an order to the manufacturing department for every car and they have to enter each individual order into the system. The production manager spends so much time organizing this task.

Provides efficiency for small businesses, but requires costly add-ons for broader capabilities
I am currently using SAP products but not primarily selling SAP. Regarding real-time data processing capabilities, it is partially helpful for decision-making. It has built-in capability for real-time data, but it's not interactive data analytics. People need another solution such as Power BI to be integrated to get real-time data with interactive analytics. When it comes to customizing reporting in SAP Business One, it has the capability to customize reports via SAP Crystal Reports. It has a good amount of reports, but for each business, you need to understand exactly what the customer needs to customize their reports. The solution includes a mobile app to access key business information, though it is a very weak mobile app. The main benefit SAP Business One provides to users is ease of access. It's very good to present to customers, both from the interface and capabilities perspective. It's suitable for small to medium companies, making the buy-in for the solution very good. The pricing for SAP Business One is very competitive. Overall, SAP Business One is a very good solution for small to medium businesses. If your company is looking for an ERP to run end-to-end business, this is the solution. You need specific add-ons to run in specific industries, but it's approximately 70% good for most small to medium companies. My overall rating for SAP Business One is 7 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I believe Penta costs less than SAP"
"Penta offers a single way to solve our problems rather than building a new ERP system in the company."
"All parts for inventory control, project budget, accounting, and business information are valuable. It is very friendly to obtain information. It is also very easy to make the changes that we need. We have a developer with us, and he can make the required changes or rules."
"The most valuable feature of SAP Business One is all the functionality of the modules together. It is a full-featured solution."
"I like the monthly order management features."
"The technical support from SAP Business One on AWS is great."
"You can scale the solution well."
"SAP Business One has good reports and is simple to customize and use."
"SAP Business One has improved the way we work because we used to have to enter manually, such as filling in invoices, and using SAP Business One has made our accountant's work a lot easier, as all the accountants worldwide use the SAP software because they can create financial statements with a click of a button, which is amazing."
"SAP Business One is cost-effective, user-friendly, and is suitable for the enterprise segment."

Cons

"However, the production guys tell me that Penta is not suitable for mass production. If we build a hundred cars per day or more, then we'll have problems. At the same time, I can't say whether the issue is Penta or our process. In other words, maybe we have too many manual projects in it."
"The web client is an area with shortcomings, which SAP is presently working on, and needs to improve."
"This is a relatively expensive solution and the cost should be reduced, especially now that there are competitors coming into the market."
"We would like a mobile version of this for sales exhibits, etc. We would also like more personalization features to personalize it for our organization."
"Some features are missing."
"There are only a few standard reports available and if you want more then they either have to be downloaded or built."
"The billing functionality and the integration of one department to other departments are areas that need improvement."
"There is room for improvement in stability."
"Our customers often request concurrent licensing, which is not available with SAP Business One. Adding this option would be beneficial."
