Less expensive than some competing solutions, but it's hard to handle logistics management at scale
We're having problems with logistics and warehouse management, and we don't know if we have the right module from Penta. When shipments come into our warehouse, they have to plug it into the Penta system and find the right place to store them. They have to go through the same process on the way out. Our production department has to do the same thing each time to prepare the material for production and get the goods out of the store. It takes a lot of time. I don't know if there are any automated solutions for it. We also do internal manufacturing orders from the German branch of our company. We send an order to the manufacturing department for every car and they have to enter each individual order into the system. The production manager spends so much time organizing this task.

Provides efficiency for small businesses, but requires costly add-ons for broader capabilities
I am currently using SAP products but not primarily selling SAP. Regarding real-time data processing capabilities, it is partially helpful for decision-making. It has built-in capability for real-time data, but it's not interactive data analytics. People need another solution such as Power BI to be integrated to get real-time data with interactive analytics. When it comes to customizing reporting in SAP Business One, it has the capability to customize reports via SAP Crystal Reports. It has a good amount of reports, but for each business, you need to understand exactly what the customer needs to customize their reports. The solution includes a mobile app to access key business information, though it is a very weak mobile app. The main benefit SAP Business One provides to users is ease of access. It's very good to present to customers, both from the interface and capabilities perspective. It's suitable for small to medium companies, making the buy-in for the solution very good. The pricing for SAP Business One is very competitive. Overall, SAP Business One is a very good solution for small to medium businesses. If your company is looking for an ERP to run end-to-end business, this is the solution. You need specific add-ons to run in specific industries, but it's approximately 70% good for most small to medium companies. My overall rating for SAP Business One is 7 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I believe Penta costs less than SAP"
"One of the biggest advantages of SAP Business One, especially in the public cloud, is that many features are standardized, which reduces the need for customization."
"Less complicated than other similar solutions."
"We have been happy with the command line interface of SAP Business One."
"This is an all-in-one ERP solution for small businesses. Everything is linked. Once you have this, you have all the features available in SAP. You have PR, inventory items, journal entry, and project management features."
"I have been happy with the intern purchases, and finance, such as banking."
"The most valuable feature of SAP Business One is the dashboards."
"Its real-time data capabilities initially provided critical insights that supported our decision-making. It effectively meets our data security and compliance requirements."
"It's very powerful and very complete."

Cons

"However, the production guys tell me that Penta is not suitable for mass production. If we build a hundred cars per day or more, then we'll have problems. At the same time, I can't say whether the issue is Penta or our process. In other words, maybe we have too many manual projects in it."
"Something which would be helpful to management and, from our vantage point as a user, would be to see a simple reporting tool."
"Business One would be improved with a customization option."
"They have a web client now. It primarily does sales. They just added purchasing. It'll be far more effective when I have inventory and financials as well into the web client version."
"There are improvements needed. However, they provide improvements over time."
"There is no dependency, the integration between the other applications."
"SAP could improve the performance of the business alignment with other products."
"SAP Business One could improve asset management, inventory management, banking system, and production. Additionally, SAP Business One did not deduct TDS, withholding tax on payments."
"Improvements are required in the support for partner-delivery add-ons, functional graphs, user development, and BI since certain shortcomings exist in these areas."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The price of SAP Business One is reasonable."
"I rate the price of SAP Business One a seven out of ten."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"This solution can work with a very small company, but the price may not be the right, it may not be the right fit for them. We can't help with this because we have to really understand the market, the target audience, and we have to position the product accordingly. The price is not a very big concern because if the customer is finding value or the dealer, distributor, or implementation partner can show real value in the solution, then the price will not be a question at all."
"I would rate Business One's pricing five out of five."
"I rate the product pricing structure at around six out of ten due to currency fluctuations posing challenges."
"The price of SAP Business One is expensive and there is only a standard license."
"SAP Business One is not cheap."
