Unified log analysis has strengthened incident detection and supports continuous attack simulation
I do not have any areas for improvement in ArcSight Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) as I have not delved deeply into it; overall, it is a good package. I would like to see the detection and response features included in the next release of ArcSight Enterprise Security Manager (ESM), as security orchestration and automation are increasingly important.

You need a skilled engineer to deploy it because you can do anything with this tool. You can see everything on the network. A good engineer will be surprised and have fun using this tool because it's very powerful. Deployment process: You need to build a recipe/layout when you want to deploy something. Once the recipe is done, you just have to copy it. So you really need a good engineer at first, but then any other technician can copy the recipe. You don't need to be an expert once the recipe is finalized. So, once you have it set up, it's easy to deploy. But you need a good engineer to deploy it correctly. You will get alerts from the system, but if you want to fully explore and maximize the tool, the engineering needs are different.

Pros

"It is a vital tool for live monitoring and helps us to understand the traffic alerts of any major issue on the network, thereby reducing hacking attempts."

"The most valuable features are flexible setup of the architecture and large coverage of devices."
"Customization. ArcSight gives you a platform to on-board out-of-the-box devices with a more accurate way of collecting desired logs/events."
"ArcSight Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) also gives you the main reason for the alert so it saves time in terms of investigating all alerts, including false alerts, so it improved my company."
"For large scale installations with multiple users and (sub) companies, ArcSight is the best option."
"Before we would have to have a large number of staff to be able to go in and do consulting opportunities, to mitigate and remediate security intrusions on given clients, now using ArcSight, albeit there may be a capital upfront cost to buy the software product, it enables us to speed our time to resolution."
"It greatly changed our work habits in the organization allowing us to not only trace back security threats, but also to generate usage trends, discover anomalies and so many other usages."
"The configuration part is very easy...The technical support was sincere in their responses...I rate the technical support a nine out of ten."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the reporting."
"The most valuable feature is the management features. It's capable of managing large enterprises."
"The ease of log collection and stability of the platform are the most valuable features."

Cons

"There could be more API features for extracting logs on different devices included in the product."
"The only concern is that AI needs to be integrated"
"I tried to learn the syntax in order to customize the software (connectors and agents) for a particular device, and it was a nightmare."
"ArcSight uses Oracle DB, which is a bit slow for read/write functions and the main downside to this product."
"ArcSight is incredibly complex when configuring and deploying, and if your organization doesn't know what they want and what they need, ArcSight will be a challenge for them."
"The initial setup is complex."
"Its search part can be improved. When I go to the console and search for a few logs or something else, it takes a lot of time."

"The integration could be easier, it should support more products."
"In general, the solution currently isn't user-friendly."
"Sometimes the investigation panel and reporting engine work very slowly."
"RSA enVision log manager is out of date and is not in use anymore."
"There is no future for this solution. It does not exist anymore."
"Whenever you perform the query, it takes too long."
"Licensing could be improved to be more oriented towards Managed Service Providers (MSPs)."
"The integration could be easier, it should support more products."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Aggregation can help a lot in pushing down licensing costs."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"The licensing cost is affordable if you get an enterprise license. The licensing is based on EPS, so you can probably provide a package of license for multiple ESMs with their correlational end fees. It is cost-effective."
"It is best to be an institutional buyer and directly contact the sales team, as they can provide over-the-top discounts for bulk orders."
"The pricing is great compared to others."
"HPE ArcSight pricing might be more expensive than other SIEM solutions, but in my opinion it has powerful features and great flexibility in developing complex use cases."
"It's a good price, it's one of the cheaper solutions."
"ArcSight can be a little bit expensive because of the area that we work in and the cost. Licensing is mostly on a yearly basis, not monthly."
"We no longer pay a licensing fee because it is out of date and don't pay for support."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high price, I rate the pricing a six."
