Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"What they do best is test management. That's their strong point.""The AI and functionality interface are useful.""I like the traceability, especially between requirements, testing, and defects.""I found the ease of use most valuable in Micro Focus ALM Quality Center. Creating test cases is easier because the solution allows writing in Excel.""The most valuable user feature that we use right now is the camera.""The enhanced dashboards capabilities are useful for senior management to view the progress of releases under the portfolio in one go and also drill down to the graphs.""Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is a very good test management tool especially for writing test cases and uploading. You can even upload the test cycles from Excel. You get the defects and the reports, and also some automation using EFT which works with ALM.""It has a good response time."

"The features I find the most valuable are requirement tracking and schematics.""I am impressed with the solution’s stability.""Polarion ALM has some valuable tools for managing our targets and requirements. I think that's its best feature.""The most valuable feature is the function of the ALM system.""The tool helped us to more effectively and efficiently gather and structure the information (requirements, test plans, project management data, etc.), and share it with the involved stakeholders in a safe and change-controlled manner.""Polarion ALM's integration is very good and easy to use.""The solution offers good integration.""It meets with everybody's needs without having to grab plugins."

"We have been using it because it gives certain abilities in the automotive industry, such as auditing or keeping track of information.""The solution is flexible in terms of customization. You can bend and reformat it in many ways. You can also customize the APIs and public functions.""The most valuable feature is traceability starting from the requirements until the end of a project.""We found the requirement management and the version control features to be the most useful for our client.""I have found that previously, the OEM sector was managing everything, possibly manually. However, with the introduction of the product, it has become much easier for customers to handle their products. Previously, customers were using different software to manage their products. However, PTC Integrity offers a solution for requirements management, test management, and even development to support live ticket management. So instead of using multiple software tools, we can use it for all these purposes.""Complete traceability as per process requirements.""PTC Integrity has good stability.""I personally like PTC Integrity because it provides everything within the software. You can store and access your data and perform various tasks. Compared to other products, I find it user-friendly, which can sometimes feel complex. I think PTC Integrity is user-friendly, making it nice to use. The tool is easier to learn."

Cons
"I'd like to be able to improve how our QA department uses the tool, by getting better educational resources, documentation to help with competencies for my testers.""We are looking for more automation capabilities.""It needs Pure-FTPd WebUI and single sign-on.""It is pricey.""The support is not good and the documentation is not consistent.""Client-side ActiveX with patch upgrades""There needs to be improvement in the requirement samples. At the moment, they are very basic.""Quality Center's UI is outdated, and it's a little bit slow on the login part and different parts of the application. That's why we're switching solutions. I believe most companies are switching to Octane or something else. Micro Focus should enhance the interface and reports."

More OpenText ALM / Quality Center Cons →

"The user interface is not yet optimized.""The solution's editing capabilities need improvement.""The most important thing for them to improve should be platform-independent features. They should also provide extensive pipelines and release pipelines that we can define and we can work on.""The ease-of-use could be improved a little.""The tool needs to improve its planning. It also needs to add more integrations.""Based on my understanding, the tool's integration capabilities with multiple tools is an area of concern that Polarion needs to focus on more.""The configuration aspect of the solution is not easy. A person needs a lot of programming knowledge in order to successfully handle the job.""The weak point of Polarion ALM software is about reporting and time for extraction of the data...The quality of reporting needs to improve."

More Polarion ALM Cons →

"It's not easy to plan on this solution and it's not user-friendly. The interface should be more like a web interface. It's not easy to use.""I would like to see better integration from the architectural side.""From my experience over the years, I believe there might be room for improvement in PTC Integrity. While it's already a good product, it tends to be slower than other software. When it becomes bulky, it slows down even more, sometimes leading to crashes or hangs that require restarting the computer before being able to use PTC Integrity again. This has been my experience multiple times.""We are unhappy because everything that we needed required customization and this is not a plug-and-play type of solution at all.""It's not so customizable. Compared to other tools, defining user stories is a slightly more cumbersome process as an ALM engineer.""The web version does not have all the functionalities of the non-web version. Administration and adding/removing fields, etc. cannot be done on the web version. People want solutions that are compatible with Android. I also want to have a version by which I can bulk edit all the fields.""To be honest, the third controller system is kind of old. There are lots of transactional changes that have not been implemented in PTC. If you have a larger project, for example, whenever you give bits and need to change 10,000 files you can just commit them. But here the work style is a little more file based, so you'll have to take care of almost all the files individually. It's not a single commit like you do here, but rather you have to allocate time for each component or file that you want to check in or commit. That's a very big issue.""There are not enough reports. People would like to see something similar to what is available in JIRA."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I'd rate the pricing as 3/10 as it's very expensive."
  • "If you have more than five users, a concurrent licensing model should be considered."
  • "For pricing, I recommend to buy a bundled package. Check the HPE site for more details."
  • "The full ALM license lets you use the requirements tab, along with test automation and the Performance Center. You can also just buy the Quality Center edition (Manual testing only), or the Performance Center version (Performance Testing only)."
  • "HPE has one of the most rigid, inflexible, and super expensive license models."
  • "Sure, HP UFT is not free. But consider what you get for that cost: A stable product that is easy to use; the kitchen sink of technology stack support; decades of code (which in many cases actually is free); a version that is a stepping stone to an easier Selenium design; and a support base that is more that just the kindness of strangers."
  • "Seat and concurrent licensing models exist; the latter is recommended if a large number of different users will be utilizing the product."
  • "I feel that the licenses are expensive. "

  • "The license model is okay for large companies but would be quite expensive for smaller enterprises."
  • "If the pricing would come down and it was more affordable then we wouldn't have to switch."
  • "Our license for Polarion ALM is yearly. And it's not the cheapest tool that we've looked at. So if we had made our decision purely based on the licensing cost, we wouldn't have selected Polarion."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "Software for medical devices is always expensive."
  • "You have to pay around 50-60 euros per user."
  • "It is an expensive product."
