We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the simplicity and integration with the Microsoft Clouds platform.""The solution has a feature that automatically asks the users to upgrade their password once we set up the process.""The initial setup is very simple.""It comes bundled with other Microsoft solutions.""The ease of use is the most valuable feature. The ability to import data to build your frontend on top of the data is very simple and very useable.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the protection and ease of use.""Feature-wise we have the ability to encrypt fast.""It's a straightforward solution for encryption."

More Microsoft BitLocker Pros →

"The product is easy to use.""With Sophos, I only need to generate the password and give that to a user to be able to allow them to login to the admin page of the Endpoint and do whatever they need to do. The user cannot go ahead and uninstall it. It's kept us much more secure because of this. Should any event happen on a particular system, I'm given the username and the system IP address. I get notifications and can deal with issues right away.""It's quite easy to integrate Safeguard with BitLocker""Security-wise, it's one of the best.""Policy deployment is easy and quick to do.""The Intercept X feature is the most valuable feature. You can't find this feature in other firewalls because Intercept X works as if it has an interaction between the endpoint and the firewall.""I like its ease of use the most. The management console is really nice. I like having one pane of glass that does everything. It does the Sophos anti-virus and encryption. Everything that you need is in one place. It is easy to use, and it is also pretty fast. It provides some pretty good details, and it lets you know who has access to a file. You can also add additional people to the encrypted documents, which is pretty good. Its stability and performance are also very good.""The advantage of Sophos SafeGuard stems from the fact that it is more secure than other products in the market."

More Sophos SafeGuard Pros →

"Its management is good, and it is also scalable and mostly stable.""We can extend it to all of the critical endpoints and the servers, and we can ensure the confidentiality of the data.""The most valuable feature is the ease of use.""The most valuable feature is that it works in the background so that the end-users are not aware of what is happening on the laptop.""The solution is pretty stable.""I like the management aspect of this solution. You don't want to have end-users tweak or set it themselves, so the fact that you could do it from a central point helped us a lot.""The solution’s installation was easy.""The best feature of Symantec Endpoint Encryption is the encryption itself. Encryption truly is the way to go because nowadays we are living in an era of widespread server threats, and you need to encrypt your emails and documents because you never know who might get hold of them."

Cons
"There are options which could be implemented to make it a little more like PGP Whole Disk Encryption.""They could improve cloud integration regarding attribute and encryption key management.""For improvement, as it is now, I do not have any support from anyone. There should be a web interface to manage BitLocker. But for now, all I do is just install a new product on the user's machine and create it. I would like to be able to see everything that is happening, even if it is just through a web interface. I would also like to be able to see how many users are provisioned, which users are using BitLocker, and how to disable or enable it. That's what I would like to see.""BitLocker should be available on standard Windows. We need to spend money on a Pro license to get BitLocker because it's essential to protect our customers' data. We don't want that to fall into the wrong hands.""The solution could be improved if it was more user friendly.""The visualization could be better.""The deployment process regarding prerequisites and automation could be easy to understand.""Some of the technical internal functions, such as encryption protocols or something similar, could be improved."

More Microsoft BitLocker Cons →

"In the next release, I would like to see more automation with the endpoint logging, but it's a special feature that is quite complicated to explain.""The dashboards lack sufficient information.""The solution lacks direct connectivity to Azure AD.""Sophos SafeGuard is a German product. Sophos isn't really active in Europe. The Middle East, Africa, South Africa works with Sophos but their primary users aren't in Europe. They should market and push this solution to the European market.""The tutorials need to be simplified. The existing ones need to be easier to follow and we could use some tutorials for basic setups. They should aim to be more like Cisco, which offers very good tutorials and materials.""The solution's ability to integrate with other solutions, such as a DLP, should be addressed.""The solution is not using other features like booting encryption, because it causes very heavy processing of the workstation. If they could find some way to handle the encryption and decryption to be lighter on the workstation it would be better.""There are times that this solution takes up too much memory that needs to be resolved. If it is not fixed it will definitely create issues in the future."

More Sophos SafeGuard Cons →

"The program's disk encryption is not very friendly with Microsoft OS updates. We have a problem with updates failing unless we use a time-consuming work-around.""We would like some advanced security protection features.""From an administration point of view, maybe it would be ideal to have it centrally managed.""The GUI could use some enhancement, particularly in making option sets easier to locate on client machines.""They have too high of a price tag. That's why they're losing the market share.""It was hard to install and took us about three months.""What I didn't find helpful in the version we used is the fact that all devices had to be on the same network for us to push through the encryption.""It's difficult to integrate the solution with the DLP"

    Overview

BitLocker is a full disk encryption solution that protects your data from theft, hacking, and loss. BitLocker achieves this by encrypting the entire drive that hosts your operating system and all your data. BitLocker can work on all operating systems, drives, or devices, including portable storage devices.

After BitLocker completes the data encryption, it generates a recovery key. Only those with the correct encryption key will be able to decrypt and access the encrypted files and information. Attempts to access secured data on premises or over the network will be met with either authentication prompts or error messages saying the data cannot be accessed.

BitLocker provides its users with peace of mind by improving security and reducing risks of critical data loss and intrusions.

    Benefits of Microsoft BitLocker

    • Comprehensive data protection: BitLocker encryption provides increased security for data throughout its lifecycle, which starts with the creation and storage of the data and ends with its removal. Encryption prevents important data from being accidentally revealed or stolen. When data is encrypted, stealing data is more difficult, and hackers are often discouraged from instigating a cyberattack.

    • BitLocker is free with Microsoft Windows: Microsoft BitLocker is free to use and very easy to set up.

    • Good performance: BitLocker does not make the computer slow down or freeze when in use. You are free to work on other processes with BitLocker running in the background. BitLocker’s interface is very intuitive and the process of encrypting and decrypting data is straightforward and fast.

    • Prevent unauthorized data modification: BitLocker helps to keep your computing environment safe from any unauthorized changes. BitLocker regularly inspects your boot settings every time your PC is turned on. When BitLocker notices that modifications have been made to your boot environment, it forces the PC to enter recovery mode.

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft BitLocker stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its powerful encryption capabilities and its user-friendly user interface.

An ICT operations and security manager notes, “It is free and native to the OS. We don't have to worry about upgrades or maintaining the product. You encrypt the disk, and you save the recovery key. That's it. The person puts their password in, and after that, it is up to them. If they forget their password, they have to bring it in to get it unlocked.”

Kevin C., a director at Pathfinder, writes, “Theease of use is the most valuable feature. The ability to import data to build your frontend on top of the data is very simple and very useable.”

Protect your confidential information and comply with regulatory mandates safely and securely with SafeGuard Enterprise, Utimaco's comprehensive modular information protection platform. SafeGuard Enterprise is a modular information protection control platform that enforces policy-based security for PCs and mobile devices across mixed environments. SafeGuard Enterprise offers full transparency to end-users and is easy to administer from a single central console.
Symantec Drive Encryption, powered by PGP technology provides organizations with strong full-disk and removable media encryption and the ability to integrate with Symantec Data Loss Prevention. Intuitive management enables enterprise scale deployments and features compliance-based, out-of-the-box reporting plus customizable reports. Management capabilities include support for native OS encryption (FileVault2) and Opal compliant self-encrypting drives.
