Unified security and sd-wan have improved uptime and cut wan costs for multi-site branches
Users report stability issues in certain versions, which requires regular updates. Real-world attacks have also highlighted the need for urgent patching of vulnerabilities.Fortinet FortiGate, while a powerful and feature-rich web firewall, could improve in areas like firmware stability, documentation, and ease of use. The learning curve can be steep for some users. For beginners, support quality can vary, and frequent updates with occasional vulnerabilities call for careful patch management. However, once Fortinet FortiGate is configured, it remains highly reliable and efficient. Customer support needs improvement, as I find it very slow, with reports from other users reflecting that customer support is inadequate.

We cannot find resources to help us configure it, so most of the time the virus still goes on our computer and McAfee doesn't detect it
It's pretty easy to use on a daily basis, but there are no other features because it's hard to configure on the server. On the endpoint it's really easy to push. It's hard to configure on the server, though. It's hard to find resources to help us configure it, and there is not much online help that you can find. Most of the time, we were looking at the forums, and we needed to go very deep to find what we were looking for. It was hard, and McAfee was not really helpful when we were trying to get the product to work perfectly. This is why are changing it.

Automated breach prevention has protected critical workloads and keeps external attacks blocked
I am familiar with SonicWall TZ. I have done a POC of TZ but I have not worked extensively with it. I have worked with the 2600 firewall and then the 3600. These are the models which we have worked with.SonicWall NSa was an on-premises solution. The two firewalls which were in production, in the data center and on the LAN side, were both on-premises solutions. We had a pre-decided budget under which we would purchase the firewall. All parameters including security, high availability, and budget concerns were covered with SonicWall NSa being implemented at that time. SonicWall NSa is a user-friendly product that is easy to configure, and it is easy for network personnel and firewall administrators to work with. Even the L1 team captured and learned this firewall effectively, helping us resolve all parameters related to high availability firewalls within budget-friendly costs. I rate this review a nine out of ten.

Pros

"The detection is great."
"Fortinet FortiGate IPS is a very good firewall; we don't have any complaints, it is doing its job correctly."
"The license management is very valuable. You can get a new license each year, or you can enroll every two to four years. You can get the logs, and you will get the information on the risk in your network and the entire organization. With this information, you can take action on your actives, computers, or devices. You can bring your own device as an SSE."
"Throughout the last six years we have been using Fortigate firewalls, and the experience we gained is only positive."
"FortiGate SWG has helped us control what employees do on the internet because people waste a lot of time using social networks, watching videos, etc."
"We are using this solution to protect our network on every site."
"The web tutor and automatic rules by schedule are good features."
"Fortinet can pinpoint the source of the problem, so we can work with the right people to get it resolved."
"It does give certain protection for everything that is well configured on our McAfee server. We have good protection with it. If we could find a feature and make it work, it would work perfectly, there would be no bugs, and it would be really good."
"It's a very functional and stable product if you're looking for a Layer 7 firewall with reputation filtering and encrypted traffic inspection."
"ROI: It's good."
"We have 10 offices throughout Brazil, and now they are all connected by using the VPN feature of the firewall."
"For managing multiple MFE firewalls it is incredibly handy, convenient, and it is easy to use the product with McAfee Control Centre."
"It does give certain protection for everything that is well configured on our McAfee server."
"It is able to fulfill my requirements, protects our network environment, has control over IPS and signatures, can manage bandwidth and mapping, and is also stable with good support."
"Overall SonicWall NSa is a good solution for our use case."
"The most valuable features are that it is reasonably-priced and works well."

"I like the solution's configuration, interfaces, and user guides."
"SonicWall NSa is a very good product with a very nice price, and it is low-level to use."

Cons

"The firewall engine is not so strong as of now, in my opinion... My second concern is that, while they have Zero-day vulnerability and anti-malware features, the threat engine needs to be strengthened, its efficiency can be increased."
"Previously it had a hiccup around a bug within the authentication VPN due to the firmware, but after updating, it's easier to control."
"We would like to see better pricing."
"The anti-malware engine could use an upgrade."
"They can probably improve the reporting feature. Reporting and report alerting are the main key features of this solution. They can always find ways to improve these."
"The ease of use could be improved."
"The stability and performance of Fortinet FortiGate are mixed, as some features are quite good and very stable while others are quite new and very buggy."
"There's room for improvement in the interface, especially following their upgrade to version nineteen."
"HA configuration is a bit difficult for the first time."
"Migrating from v7 to v8 of McAfee Firewall Enterprise, in many cases, involves you having to completely re-write all of your previous McAfee Firewall Enterprise v7 policies due to the difference in the way the interfaces are named in the product going from v7 to v8."
"The hardware is not stable and we have faced many stability issues."
"Customer support and AV are both lacking and are really hard to come to you when the product is installed."
"Administration of the firewall is a little confusing for end users."
"Customer support and AV are both lacking and are really hard to come to you when the product is installed. Those are the two major points that they need to work on."
"The only thing that we would want would be single-pane management, which it has, but the GMS is not very good."
"One area for improvement in SonicWall NSa is the GUI. It isn't easy to understand. The support for SonicWall NSa is mediocre, which is another area for improvement."
"Competitors provide SSL encryption licenses for free, whereas SonicWall only provides two licenses by default, but you have to pay for the rest of the licenses."
"It's not as easy to use, as, for example, Palo Alto. Some of the configurations could be better."
"SonicWall needs to work on SD-WAN."
"We still get phishing emails that manage to come through from time to time."
"The product that we have is not scalable."
"The thing main thing is that there's no user admin and in other firewalls, we can enable the scalable features, but SonicWall doesn't have that feature."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is not very expensive."
"I rate FortiGate's pricing a five out of ten."
"The price is okay."
"The price range is quite acceptable and normal."
"It's expensive, but compared to the competition it's okay."
"The product is expensive."
"The pricing or licensing of Fortinet FortiGate is quite effective as it offers different bundles that aggregate most required features, while also allowing clients the option to select specific components alone."

"The solution is based on a yearly licensing model that is reasonable compared to other options."
"SonicWall still is only a dollar or Euro per gigabit. This means, of the IPsec, it's the cheapest solution."
"It's become difficult to get the best price from SonicWall."
"Considering the market, I believe that the price of this solution is great."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis, and we are happy with the pricing."
"It would be better if it has a better price, but its price is okay considering the benefits that you receive."
