Secures data loss for our law firm but has struggled with outdated, complex management
On a technical level, when I draw a comparison between McAfee Complete Data Protection and CrowdStrike, McAfee Complete Data Protection is a one out of ten, and then CrowdStrike is a ten out of ten. I say that technically McAfee Complete Data Protection is so low because the console and the portal haven't changed in almost ten years. It's had some slight visual improvements, but that's it. It's not really working in a modern portal the way that some of the enterprise apps like CrowdStrike actually work. McAfee Complete Data Protection is also very difficult to use. It takes a lot of time to get my head around how it actually operates. It's not very intuitive. However, in terms of pricing and the specific use cases that I have, it's good.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In the configuration, you can restrict a user from accessing a removable drive."
"Reporting and encryption are its most valuable features."
"With this solution, the device control is more reliable and more stable."
"Technical support is very helpful."
"It works seamlessly as long as it's well configured and the policies have been put properly."
"It provides encryption, data protection, and DLP, all under one roof. The deployment, scalability, and reporting is too good. My clients are satisfied with the stability of the product. The solution is highly scalable. The technical support's response time and turnaround time as the solution provider are excellent. The availability of great back-end support and process support makes the product great. The initial setup is straightforward, with simple configurations. I recommend the solution."
"I have found the USB part most valuable."
"We can scale the solution."
"The Central Management server."

Cons

"The solution needs more advanced features."
"On a technical level, when I draw a comparison between McAfee Complete Data Protection and CrowdStrike, McAfee Complete Data Protection is a one out of ten, and then CrowdStrike is a ten out of ten."
"The price is a little high and could be better."
"The solution's pricing could be better."
"The UI could be improved a bit."
"The product consumes too much RAM and CPU for its processing and this can lead to resource issues on PCs."
"This solution does not do as well at protecting the end-user against unknown viruses."
"Though there may be some ransomware detection modules now in McAfee Complete Data Protection, it's a field that McAfee should focus on, particularly having integration with some EDR or other add-ons. This is so McAfee Complete Data Protection would have more accuracy in detecting new ransomware in the market. What I'd like to see in the next release of the solution is for its pricing to be more cost-effective because some competitors have cheaper pricing, so McAfee Complete Data Protection can't compete. Sometimes, some new vendors offer other solutions rather than McAfee Complete Data Protection, to win customers over, and this is a loss for McAfee."
"MacOS X is missing features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is better than that of some competing products."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the solution a seven."
"The price of this solution needs to be improved."
"McAfee Complete Data Protection is a little bit expensive."
"The price is good, it's a low-cost solution."
"The pricing is quite reasonable compared to other vendors."
"The licensing is yearly."
"The cost of McAfee Complete Data Protection isn't that high but isn't that cheap as well, so it's in the middle."
"Licensing and pricing is on par with the market."
