Enables us to develop more than 90 applications in-house, which are used across our organization
It's a bit difficult to work with purely web-based applications to get the data and display it. There have been a few times when the connection was disconnected between the server and your browser. The connectivity on browser-built applications needs to be improved. The mobile application development could be easier. They could include different external applications, like finger sensors. I'm not sure whether it's in version 3.8 or not.

Oracle Autonomous Mobile Cloud Enterprise: Deliver Mobile Apps faster using inbuilt features
Valuable features include: * Built-in platform APIs for configuring push notifications. * APIs to generate custom analytics events. * Connectors that can be used to connect to various enterprise backends and third-party systems. Now they have rolled out Oracle Autonomous Mobile Cloud Enterprise which also helps us to develop chatbots. We have implemented Facebook Channel enabled Chatbots using AMCe that allows to interact with Oracle EBS modules like HRMS. Here user can interact with chatbots to get the details about approved leaves, available leaves & also have the provision to apply leave. For one of our major clients, we wrote custom APIs in Oracle Autonomous Mobile Cloud to convert SOAP APIs to REST APIs. We were also able to integrate SSO functionality in their mobile application using Virtual Zero Footprint SSO. Oracle Autonomous Mobile Cloud has a built in token exchange endpoint that allows to generate SSO tokens using third party JWT or SAML tokens. We have also implemented Browser Based SSO in some of our client mobile applications.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Typically an experienced Magic developer can do the work of two to three experienced C#/.NET developers. Customers are amazed at how quickly most new features can be added and bug fixes implemented. I have worked for four employers - including myself - using Magic, and in most instances, bug fixes are addressed and deployed in under six hours."
"Magic is rapid, it's a tool which we use to develop, change and maintain our programs, and xpa has a lot more features onboard and it gives us the opportunity to do such things so that we can easily adapt and maintain our programs, giving us certain benefits to stay with our customers and the market."
"What I found most valuable in the Magic xpa Application Platform is that it has a client-server and web browser technology that's perfect for company users."
"Speed of development and database connectivity (MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, Btrieve/Pervasive PSQL, ODBC, MySql, and SQLite)."
"Magic’s Database Gateway allows the logic of the program to be isolated from the underlying database. This provides the flexibility not only to move existing programs to different database environments without the need to change the logic in the program but also allows the programmer access to different databases without the need to know how to "talk" to them."
"The speed of development is the quickest for any tool on the market."
"The ability to use the same development environment for both Windows and Android applications. Magic xpa also supports iOS applications."
"The best feature of Magic is the development time. The time it takes to develop something is incredibly fast if you compare Magic with, for example, Java."
"Oracle MCS is more than just a Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS) solution."
"Since Oracle MAF consumes REST WebServices, it was pretty fast to build, deploy and consume our existing Oracle ADF applications based on ADF-BC into our native mobile app based on the hybrid model."
"Oracle Autonomous Mobile Cloud Service helps us to deliver the application much more quickly, as it comes with built-in platform APIs for storage, push notifications, analytics, etc."
"Very easy to use and start building apps for people with an Oracle ADF background."
"It can be deployed on multiple platforms, and it can communicate with banks, web services, and data controls."
"The Task Flow feature provides us with structure and navigation between AMX pages, both bounded and unbounded."
"We feel like, as an internet company, we try to achieve 99.99% availability of our website for all users, and since we get fewer bounces in the system, it does provide reliability and availability for the website."
"There exists different hybrid solutions in the market with open source products, but if you want to have support and a real business solution, then there is no better solution that I've seen."

Cons

"Magic has a tradition, when it adds new technologies/features to the Magic development tool, to provide either no documentation or documentation that does not provide an organized approach for bringing this new technology/feature to experienced Magic programmers."
"The Android environment is missing a number of functions for file/folder manipulation, sending receiving text messages (SMS) and the menuing options are limited. For now, it is left to the developer to write his/her own Java functions to include in the APK."
"There is room for improvement in Magic's marketing and licensing. I would like to see more integration of web functionality."
"Support is very bad."
"I would like to see a spell checker included with optional language support. Currently, this has to be purchased from a third-party."
"The user interface could be improved to be more friendly for developers."
"The ability to display page up, page down, top and bottom buttons along the scroll bar would make my mouse-reliant customers happy."
"It is missing basic charting tools for bar/pie/series charts. It is left to the developer to acquire and deploy charting tools or the customer to purchase a third-party reporting tool to produce charts."
"It is true that we are not as happy as we would like in terms of syncing."
"Deployment and run time performances can be improved."
"The license is not suitable for small to mid-level clients. I consider the license prices too expensive and Oracle MAF does not offer something new that other free frameworks offer."
"They need to enhance it to allow older smartphones to work smoothly without hanging."
"The performance of animations could be faster. Also, the applications archive is quite big and could be better."
"There are some stability issues with the framework, some bugs can cause the mobile application to crash, and there are other visual bugs as well."
"One of the features that would interest me would be mobile app analytics, which would allow us to track mobile app usage. I think they need to invest more into the functionality of this framework."
"From my point of view, it would be desirable if Swagger would also be supported as a valid description format for custom APIs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are different licenses, we have the application and the online application. There are two different licenses for two different program sites for the Magic xpa Application Platform."
"Magic is not the cheapest IDE out there. If you are considering Magic xpa, you should do a cost-benefit analysis to feel comfortable with your decision. The Magic sales staff is very helpful in providing pricing."
"The main problem with the Magic xpa Application Platform is pricing. You have to pay a lot of money for development, and you also have to pay a lot for the deployments and runtime, while in most competitors, you have to pay a lot for one of the two and not both."
"The cost for developers is high because you have to pay for licenses as well as runtime."
"The licensing cost varies because nowadays Magic has tailor-made offerings for clients. I think the solution is worth the money."
"The licensing is too costly."
"It's not cheap. The licenses are not cheap. Not at all. They cost much money. There are other tools with free licenses but Magic asks for a lot of money."
"My clients have to purchase additional licenses in order to use what I built. It's not a fair approach."
