The database setup is a pain initially, but once it's done everything works fine.

We are going to re-implement the Oracle Hyperion system due to changes in our chart of account process and some other factors. We were analyzing whether to move to a cloud system, EPM Cloud. We have already proceeded with our Oracle Hyperion re-implementation with the vendor, and it is in the approval process. All options have been evaluated. We have made comparisons between EPM Cloud and Oracle Hyperion. Oracle Hyperion is not too user-friendly. EPM Cloud has more support towards functional users who can generate reports according to their own needs. There are specific reasons why we have not moved to the cloud, such as our various processes including reconciliations. We do not prefer customization in Oracle Hyperion, but due to business needs, there may be a few minimal customizations made. The forms are a bit complex for functional users. To create and open forms is not simple. We need trained personnel, and training is essential to use it efficiently.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Well certainly this product has helped many finance users in the organization as this product enables them to see the numbers for any cost center and business unit and also get a consolidated view of group level numbers."
"This tool is mainly used for forecasting, and it will, for sure, help all the organizations that need data/reports on expenses and headcount forecasting."
"Khalix is a simple tool that builds on existing data sources to develop solutions in forecasting, planning and consolidation needs."
"This product offers a wide range of corporate performance management tools for powerful financial consolidation, planning and reporting."
"So far, the stability has been fine."
"The most valuable aspect is that the time to market is very fast, and you're able to finish your budgeting cycle in a very quick and fast way with a more detailed analysis."
"The feature that allows automation of the budgeting and forecasting process is extremely valuable, especially when compared to Excel."
"We are very happy with the product and we are beginning to move into OneStream as well."
"If the group is large enough, then I would recommend going ahead with this solution because it's a very good tool for reporting and consolidation."
"We like the reporting and tracking of financials."
"We were amazed at how affordable it had become in recent years, and the clients were pleased that they could get into a Hyperion-level tool at an affordable price."
"This product has been helping the organization to implement complex budgeting models."

Cons

"The initial set up was complex and painful, both with respect to database setup and the execution script."
"If you compare it with Oracle then Longview isn't that user friendly."
"The original cost is set to use enterprise wide but the users growth is too slow to justify the cost. That's one of the reasons we stopped using this tool."
"Web based reporting can have better user interface and functions."
"Their documentation could be a little bit more descriptive at places."
"Hyperion is basically a jail and cost center platform where you couldn't budget any different than the rules of what Hyperion is telling you to budget by."
"The level of complexity of the implementation is always a challenge."
"Pricing is a significant concern. After moving to PBCS and EPBCS, the per-user license fees can be reduced, particularly for bulk users."
"The biggest issue we have had for end users was that we lost control of functionality."
"The initial setup of Oracle Hyperion is very difficult."
"As an intuitive, user friendly, GUI application, I would rate it a 4/10."
"We are still having some issues with the ASO Cube. It can take a long time to clear the data in the ASO Cube compared to BSO data-clearing operations. We don't have a specific calculation in the ASO, and we only have these aggregate options on the ASO side. If we need calculations, we have to calculate them in the BSO and pass the data to the ASO Cube for the reporting. That's one of the drawbacks. Oracle could also improve on the data logging side as well."
