Enables customers to build their own reports, but performance could be better
The most important criterion when selecting a vendor is reliability. I would give this solution a seven out of 10. It does some good stuff, but there needs to be more performance. Make sure that you have really good people working on the server administration, to make sure you're doing it right, the setup is right.

Unlocks actionable insights through user-friendly analysis features
The self-service capabilities that Qlik Sense offers are significant. They offer natural language processing, allowing users to ask questions in layman language, and Qlik Sense will create charts and narratives automatically. Users can access any dashboard developed in Qlik Sense from familiar portals such as Okta or other company portals through embedding features. The integration with chatbots, particularly Microsoft Teams, allows users to access dashboards and ask questions directly within Teams. The collaboration feature enables users to share analysis by taking snapshots and tagging team members within the Qlik Sense interface, eliminating the need for lengthy emails or screenshots. The storytelling feature allows users to create presentations directly in Qlik Sense using dashboard analysis, making it easier to answer questions during meetings. The subscription feature enables users to receive charts and sheets via email instead of navigating to the dashboard, facilitating monitoring purposes. Qlik Sense offers alerting capabilities where users can set thresholds for KPIs and receive notifications when these thresholds are reached. The platform also includes AI/ML features for predictive modeling through a no-code component, allowing business users to create and deploy AutoML models without depending on data scientists. The Qlik Answers component, featuring generative AI capability, enables users to get answers from unstructured data including Excel, HTML documents, or Microsoft Word documents by creating a knowledge base. The user-friendly interface operates on a drag-and-drop approach, with Qlik Sense suggesting appropriate charts based on selected dimensions and measures. The associative engine capabilities allow data association between tables, implementing selections across related tables. The platform uses a color-coding system (white, gray, and dark gray) to show related, excluded, and unrelated data selections, providing insights beyond traditional BI tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"A must have for the business looking to understand their processes in an easy to consume way"
"Rapid development and deployment of solutions with low-cost server-based licensing is attractive in high user count environments."
"Self-service reporting modules allow customers to build their own reports."
"People really like the way the reports look, there are lots of fancy bells and whistles on the report designer."
"It connects very simply to data sources."
"The most valuable thing for us is the speed in obtaining data and statistics of our business because due to the complexity of our corporate structure, many times we lost too much time in collecting the data."
"We have been using Qlik Sense Enterprise for two and a half years, and it has been one of the best decisions we made."
"The solution is scalable."
"The most valuable feature is flexibility."
"We have started on our journey to become a data-driven and data-literate company."
"You can build a very nice dashboard and/or report very quickly (simple reports can be ready in a matter of minutes!) even if your data is scattered between different files or even platform (excels, DB, etc.)."
"Easy to use interface Leveraging and reusability of already existing QlikView assets and knowledge Powerful data extraction process Rich API and web integration capabilities Performance"

Cons

"The only feature I would like to see at this point is a normalized curve for Histograms"
"Performance dependant on back-end much more than some other toolsets."
"It needs a much lower price. They are jacking up the price every year, which is wrong."
"The product could be improved by implementing a user-feedback ranking system."
"Integrated maps should become part of the Qlik Sense, as opposed to buying an additional module just to power the BI, which has it built-in natively within the application."
"Ability for the administrator to approve Community Sheets in the QMC and then move them into base sheets."
"Right now, it is complex and you have to understand the data model prior to analyzing it, so basically I would like to see an integration with Excel in the future."
"The only thing I would say that comes up is that sometimes it can be a bit buggy."
"I would like to see Qlik add more DevOps functionality to their product. Currently, we have to turn to 3rd party products to handle things like Source Control, Code Deployment through environments, etc."
"Currently, we are not very happy with the iPad or iPhone app because it is not working as we want."
"Better visualization options on charts such as pivot tables, and better control over total lines in the pivot and straight tables without the need to download extensions to accomplish this task."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It needs a much lower price. They are jacking up the price every year, which is wrong."
"You need to pay 5,000 Norwegian kroner per user. Microsoft Power BI is slightly more expensive than Qlik Sense."
"Qlik Sense and its pricing model can follow any scalability."
"We have 20 licenses for Qlik Sense, and it is a special license that allows people in the whole company to use it over time. You buy this license and there are some minutes that can be used. For example, for the users that used only a few minutes in a month, we use this license. All the people have the ability to work with Qlik Sense. However, the number of licenses is not the number of users. The number of users that uses Qlik Sense is approximately 35 people."
"I believe pricing is similar to other products in the same category, if you have it on-premise."
"Currently, our ROI is clear and concise decision-making. This timely addition will easily add $15 million to our bottom line in 2017."
"Ultimately, the cost is low, and it implements fast. The limiting factor is how quickly your staff can keep up."
"The cost is not bad considering the flexibility and support you receive from Qlik. I believe it is worth the cost."
"Licensing could be cheaper."
