Focused customization has exposed setup complexity but now automates daily banking reports
Jaspersoft's best feature is that any developed report can be customized with no restriction, and based on permissions, any user can customize a particular report. Reports can be modified at any time by taking the JRXML and making changes, then executing that particular Jaspersoft report. If there is any error, it will be caught while executing or compiling, and based on that, the error can be resolved and deployed to production. Jaspersoft also suggests where the error is and how it can be resolved, as AI is integrated with it. Beyond this, we can add an unlimited number of fields, and reports can be generated with an unlimited number of pages, which is not restricted to one or two pages. This is one of the best features that stands out when compared to other tools. Jaspersoft provides real-time data analytics and reporting features, which is also one of the best features, and it has impacted the organization very positively.

Data integration has improved reserving and expense control while collaboration drives fast dashboards
Regarding drawbacks or weak points in Microsoft Power BI, it may not be directly related to the tool itself, but with our architecture, as we couldn't get a service account, which is an email address that has no relationship with the employees, just to establish the connection with Anaplan. We couldn't get it to work on SSO, so we use an employee account which could be a point of weakness, meaning if the person leaves, that connection will break. If the person goes on holiday and we need to refresh, we have to change the connection as well, but we have to live with that since we're not using SSO on the service account. Regarding the natural language processing feature, we're trying to avoid using it too much because it can slow down the connection, so as much as possible, we try to build the logic and any transformation in Anaplan, and then deliver an end product to Microsoft Power BI.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have seen a return on investment as significant time was saved through automation, and it gradually reduced manual intervention during data fetching and publishing to the dashboard."
"Jaspersoft has positively impacted my organization by making our manual work a lot easier, allowing us to automate our tasks and save a lot of time."
"The solution integrates with other Microsoft solutions very well."
"The feature I find most valuable is the ability to publish Power Bi reports, using an embedded link, directly onto a website."
"Its connectivity with other Office applications, mostly with Excel, and the ability to deploy it very easily are the most valuable features. It comes sort of bundled with the cloud, so you don't need to set up a server and a standalone infrastructure. So, getting into the system or building something that you can deploy is very easy and very cheap. With other systems, you need to have a server, and you need to have a license for the server. The initial setup is very costly."
"The solution is easy to set up and implement."
"I find Power BI's reporting feature the most valuable. The solution has improved a lot. There are new features getting added day by day. In the past, they didn't even have the printing feature, but now they have it."
"It's similar to Excel, but it's much more powerful than Excel."
"Management reporting solution that's very stable and scalable."
"Its connection to every database: Whatever and wherever it is."

Cons

"Jaspersoft can be improved if the user interface can be enhanced."
"The initial setup cost is high as the implementation is complex, but the pricing is consistent with market standards, and the licensing cost is also consistent with market standards."
"I'm looking for something that can make it much easier to incorporate Power BI visuals or dashboards into, let's say, Power Apps – custom Power Apps or anything like that. The most important thing would be to seamlessly embed reports in applications. For example, to have buttons that can be navigated through multiple solutions – from Power Apps to Power BI to SharePoint – via links or something like that."
"I have found using Microsoft BI is not easy. For example, trying to use the auto-refresh feature is not simple."
"As Copilot and further integrations continue to develop, they will enhance Power BI's functionality."
"I would like to see Machine Learning for Power Bi Pro users or an intermediate license to enable Machine Learning if you don't have access to a Premium account."
"I would like to see more AI capabilities in future releases. There's a strong interest in AI, including technologies like GPT, which facilitate real-time interactions."
"The challenge of this product is in truncating the table data."
"Real-time data integration is an area for improvement."
"The interface could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It would be better if the price was cheaper."
"There is room for at least 45% discount as compared to the initial price."
"It is based on the usage. If you're using it, you pay for it, and if you're not using it, you stop paying for it."
"We have enterprise licenses and some of the other tools or features come as a package and others you have to purchase separately."
"Power BI is subscription-based, and you have three options. The Pro edition, which is the standard one, is about $9 per user. The Premium edition, which provides AI and cloud capabilities but at a limited size, is for small to medium enterprises. It is about $20 per user. For large enterprises, such as manufacturing facilities, there is an option for the capacity. The capacity subscription is about $4,000 per capacity level. They also have an option for the on-premises version, but it is not common to see someone going for the on-premises version. The on-premises version requires a specific license that is attached to SQL Server. I believe it is about $17,000, but I'm not sure about it."
"The price of the license can be better."
"I would advise that Microsoft BI products are rightly priced and the licensing is easy to follow and to fulfill."
"The license is on a yearly basis."
