Handles large data volumes effectively and offers competitive pricing
There is a lot of improvement required, as we still face some cache issues most of the time, which is a challenge that we expect to see resolved in the future. Additionally, there is some limitation when we are working with a tool, especially regarding In and Out parameters, and I feel that this aspect should be improved going ahead. We face issues with the API side, as Cloud Application Integration cannot handle large volumes; according to the API page, there is a limitation of 500 records or 500 MB. The AI integrated into the Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services solution is called Application Integration, where we still face challenges when dealing with huge volumes, as previously explained.

Used to manage the complete attributes of products, but its installation could be a little bit easier
The solution is deployed on the cloud in our organization. It's not difficult for people to learn to use the solution. Oracle provides training to use the solution through many training videos available on Oracle University. I would recommend the solution to other users. Once you create an item in the solution, it will be automatically available in other modules. The solution is fully integrated with other Oracle models. If you want to integrate the solution with non-Oracle modules, you have to work on it. There are always options to integrate the solution with non-Oracle applications. It would be easier to integrate the solution with other Oracle applications because there are options to do so. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Informatica MDM is hierarchy management. It's not something that's typically available and effective within ERPs."
"The quality of the data improves with Informatica Cloud Data Quality."
"I think the integration feature is probably one of the key features in Informatica MDM...Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"New tools are coming out that will enable you to achieve 90 percent of use cases with the out-of-the-box configuration, but I would like to keep Informatica tight here. Otherwise, you need a Java user edit course and other things to do multiple things that you cannot configure out of the box. They have to go through those use cases to do something if those can also be configured rather than coded."
"The capability of the tool to scan and capture the metadata from a variety of sources is one of the capabilities that I find most useful. The central repository into which it is going to put that captured metadata is the best."
"It comes with lot of features and is a one-stop-shop solution for integration, data modeling, and data governance. Everything can be built under one particular umbrella. If any issues come up, then there won't be any blame game saying that it could be an integration issue or an MDM hub issue because it's wholly owned by Informatica. That's the biggest advantage of Informatica MDM over that of any other tools that are available on the market."
"Multifeatured and easily scalable data catalog, with good data domain discovery and data profiling features."
"Data integration is the most valuable feature. The ability to connect to any of the sources and enterprise applications makes our lives easier."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is the management of the complete attributes of products and services."

Cons

"It would be great if the cloud version could match the full range of capabilities available on-premise."
"Certain shortcomings in the product's UI make it an area where improvements are required."
"Logical views are a little bit behind in comparison to the on-premise version."
"The biggest pain point for us is the documentation. Typically, you have to go through knowledge forums and knowledge groups to find out about the syntax issues for interfacing with new products. Typically, you've got to deal with someone who has been through the pain before. Their documents are not really up to date with current innovations happening in the industry. As big as they are, you can't really expect it, but that's our pain point."
"In the on-premises version, features like web service consumer and web service provider are available, but these functionalities are currently unavailable in the cloud edition."
"We haven't had many technical issues. We don't use all of the components of the tool that are more complex and error-prone."
"Compared to other tools in the market, Informatica MDM is costly."
"The licenses are too expensive compared to before, which is why customers are now preferring other data metadata management tools like OneTrust, Collibra, and Azure Purview."
"The solution's installation could be a little bit easier."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an expensive solution. I would say it is the most expensive solution in the market."
"Informatica MDM is a costly solution because it comes as a bundle. They are also globally positioning themselves and are definitely working on very upgraded technologies. If someone wanted to do it on the cloud, they have a lot of flexibility because they upgrade themselves according to the current needs. It definitely comes with a lot of features and that's the reason why it's costly. The licensing cost should be approximately one million dollars. It's about four to five times that of other vendors."
"Informatica MDM is very expensive. Apart from licensing fees, they have broken down their products into multiple products, and they charge for each and every product. If the data is huge, they charge for the data. At times, we have to use third party services for data cleaning, and they charge for that as well."
"The licensing costs attached to the solution are pretty high, but then, with the cloud model, the prices depend on what it provides for the value of money, which I feel was very high."
"Informatica Cloud Data Integration is famously known for its high price. The vendor targets large enterprises, and not medium or small companies. These large companies, and organizations, handle large amounts of data. If you go into any large bank, such as American or Canadian banks, these banks use this solution because it is more reliable, secure, and has more functionality."
"Pricing is determined by the number of licensed users as well as the number of Core CPUs."
"There is no doubt that it is very expensive, but the brand value comes at a cost. Other MDM solutions in the market that haven't proven themselves like Informatica are also pretty expensive. We need to understand that MDM itself is very expensive to implement. So, Informatica is also pretty expensive. I would rate it a two out of five for being pretty expensive."
"The pricing is high compared to other tools on the market."
