We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The initial setup and configuration are straightforward and relatively simple.""The solution is fast and very accessible."

"Produces good reports and has a great traceability feature.""Reporting was the main thing because, at my level, I was looking for a picture of exactly what the coverage was, which areas were tested, and where the gaps were. The reporting also allowed me to see test planning and test cases across the landscape.""Lab Management is a valuable feature, because you have a 360 view.""The most valuable feature of Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is the alignment of the test to the execution and the linking of the defects to the two. It automatically links any issues you have to the test.""Defect management is very good.""Cross project customization through template really helps to maintain standards with respect to fields, workflows throughout the available projects.""The most valuable Quality Center feature, I find, is the solution's integration with some of our automation tools. For us, the ability to capture and record and the ease of use from a user perspective, are all key.""The tools could be useful if we were utilizing them more effectively"

Cons
"They need to continue improving the interface with the third-party options.""It would be great if they worked more closely with other solutions. There needs to be better integration with the platform for development purposes."

More Inflectra SpiraTeam Cons →

"The QA needs improvement.""I would rate it a 10 if it had the template functionality on the web side, had better interfaces between other applications, so that we didn't have dual data entry or have to set up our own migrations.""ALM requires that you install client side components. If your organization does not allow admin rights on your local machine, this means you will need someone to run the installation for you with admin rights. This client side install is also limited to Internet Explorer and does not support any other browsers.""It's not intuitive in that way, which has always been a problem, especially with business users.""It is nice, but it does have some weaknesses. It's a bit hard to go back and change the requirement tool after setup.""Currently, what's missing in the solution is the ability for users to see the ongoing scenarios and the status of those scenarios versus the requirements. As for the management tools, they also need to be improved so users can have a better idea of what's going on in just one look, so they can manage testing activities better.""As soon as it's available on-premises we want to move to ALM Octane as it's mainly web based, has the capability to work with major tests, and integrates with Jenkins for continuous integration.""The solution needs to offer support for Agile. Currently, ALM only supports Waterfall."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "I'd rate the pricing as 3/10 as it's very expensive."
  • "If you have more than five users, a concurrent licensing model should be considered."
  • "For pricing, I recommend to buy a bundled package. Check the HPE site for more details."
  • "The full ALM license lets you use the requirements tab, along with test automation and the Performance Center. You can also just buy the Quality Center edition (Manual testing only), or the Performance Center version (Performance Testing only)."
  • "HPE has one of the most rigid, inflexible, and super expensive license models."
  • "Sure, HP UFT is not free. But consider what you get for that cost: A stable product that is easy to use; the kitchen sink of technology stack support; decades of code (which in many cases actually is free); a version that is a stepping stone to an easier Selenium design; and a support base that is more that just the kindness of strangers."
  • "Seat and concurrent licensing models exist; the latter is recommended if a large number of different users will be utilizing the product."
  • "I feel that the licenses are expensive. "
