IBM Netezza Performance Server and SAP BW4HANA compete in the data analytics and data warehousing space, with IBM Netezza being preferred for its rapid data processing capabilities on large datasets.
Features: IBM Netezza Performance Server features rapid data processing through patented hardware-enhanced parallel processing, making it efficient for analytics on large datasets. It simplifies management with no complex indexing required and offers a flexible deployment including hybrid cloud solutions. SAP BW4HANA excels in seamless integration with SAP ecosystems, supporting both historical and real-time analytics. It provides comprehensive data modeling capabilities suitable for diverse business applications.
Room for Improvement: IBM Netezza lacks scalability and faces concurrency issues, plus its reliance on proprietary hardware makes updates costly. SAP BW4HANA struggles with integration outside the SAP ecosystem and demands a high price, with user interface and functionality requiring enhancement.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: IBM Netezza offers flexible deployment but has received mixed feedback regarding support responsiveness post-IBM acquisition. SAP BW4HANA typically offers on-premises deployments but aligns well with cloud strategies. It provides good service, though costs and complexity can be significant for users.
Pricing and ROI: IBM Netezza is high-priced due to its patented hardware, offering substantial ROI through performance efficiency and data compression cost savings. SAP BW4HANA is similarly priced with additional maintenance costs. Although expensive, its integration with existing SAP systems and comprehensive data solutions justify the investment for large enterprises.
Technical support is very costly for me, accounting for twenty-five to thirty percent of the product cost.
In the meantime, I found solutions independently and provided two solutions to my client.
I am satisfied with the response time and quality.
It is provided as a pre-configured box, and scaling is not an option.
The cloud version is only available in AWS, and in the Middle East, it is not well-developed in the Azure environment.
SAP is asking us to move to one client approach and suggested moving to data warehouse cloud, which should have been done before HANA, as the cloud solution is better for them due to the lack of hardware maintenance on the client's end.
Integration needs improvement.
The integration with AI/ML in SAP BW4HANA is currently very limited, which is definitely an area that needs improvement.
The certification cost for SAP BW4HANA in 2025 is expected to be one lakh forty thousand.
It operates as a high-speed data warehouse, which is essential for handling big data.
The capability to handle a large amount of data and perform ETL operations is most valuable.
My impression of the stability of SAP BW4HANA is that it is a robust system, scalable, and effective for business reporting as well as combining multiple datasets into a single point of view.
The best features include the ability to create data sources directly on tables, and perform mapping without creating info objects.
