Combines network, storage, and compute functions in one place
I want the product to be used more efficiently and for our system to connect easily with cloud services like AWS, Oracle, and IBM. We can also improve by adding advanced features like snapshots, replication, and encryption, allowing for more growth. Introducing features such as data duplication, data analytics, and AI-driven insights will improve its deployments. I've noticed a slight impact on performance, especially with high-end computing virtual machines for SAP HANA. While I don't have concrete data to support this observation, customers have raised concerns about discrepancies in performance.

The reason I chose StarWind Virtual SAN for this particular scenario is really the features, the ease of use, and most importantly, the price. In my opinion, the best features StarWind Virtual SAN offers are easy integration with the system installed in the data center. The integration with my existing systems in the data center works well, especially with VMware, as we already have a big cluster in VMware, and the easy integration with that is helpful to solve some problems with the platform. StarWind Virtual SAN has positively impacted my organization by reducing OPEX costs. My OPEX costs have gone down as we reutilize some old servers, and this reduces the CAPEX of hardware in the data center.

Pros

"The best thing about the solution is that it combines network, storage, and compute functions in one place. Unlike the traditional three-tier setup, you don't need to buy separate devices for each part. This makes it much easier to control and manage everything in one go without switching between different places for different tasks."
"The product is very reliable, with a lot of redundancy and highly available pulses, and we haven't had any major issues with it since we bought it."
"The solution is stable and everything is taken care of through the Huawei support center. They ensure everything is running smoothly. It's been very good."

"A thorough analysis and testing of existing offerings in the network storage market has shown that StarWind Virtual SAN is the perfect network storage solution."
"The most valuable features of StarWind Virtual SAN include its cost-effective repurposing of older hardware, seamless integration with vSphere, and high scalability."
"After migrating actual workloads for an ERP system onto StarWind VSAN storage I have had zero issues with performance or reliability."
"The best feature of the StarWind Virtual San product is its ease of installation and integration within a current infrastructure."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to offer high availability service without purchasing external storage systems."
"It was absolutely a night and day difference, as we went from a drive system that peaked at 2000 IOPS to a system that could do over 200,000 IOPS, with everything running a lot faster and windows opening instantly for users."
"To any who are considering this solution, I'd say that I've been really impressed with it so far."

Cons

"I want the product to be used more efficiently and for our system to connect easily with cloud services like AWS, Oracle, and IBM. We can also improve by adding advanced features like snapshots, replication, and encryption, allowing for more growth. Introducing features such as data duplication, data analytics, and AI-driven insights will improve its deployments."
"It would be helpful if the solution was able to collaborate or integrate with other well-known monitoring tools."
"The stability is poor as compared to VMware."
"The solution currently does not have cloud integration."
"Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure could improve the security of the solution. Additionally, there could be more information provided for the solution and the interface could be more user-friendly."
"Technical support needs improvement. There's a lot of language barriers."
"t would be helpful if the solution was able to collaborate or integrate with other well-known monitoring tools. Right now, you have to work hard to get it configured. It would be a good selling point for them if they could open up their solution to more integrations."
"The product is not scalable. It's a fixed item, so it has limitations."
"Scaling the product is fairly easy except for the computing aspect. It would entail another appliance. While not a show stopper, it isn't as easy as dropping in a few extra SSDs."
"The interface of the management console of the StarWind Virtual SAN is complex, and it's difficult for the novice user to interact with the management having less knowledge or training in the product."
"Some configuration options still demand service restarting."
"While it is possible to implement disk encryption in StarWind using Windows Bitlocker, such a solution can be a little tricky to manage."
"The console is something that I feel could be improved. There is nothing technically wrong with it, but it can be jazzed up and/or made to be a little more intuitive."
"The most disappointing side of the application is the free edition. There used to be GUI attached. That has recently changed to only CLI management of the application."
"Performance when in storage-separate configuration needs to be improved."
"If there was one feature I would like to see it would be a built-in subsystem for managing UPS backups shutdown procedures providing a way to initiate VM shutdown on all host servers, shut down the host servers, then put the fault-tolerant mirroring in standby, and finally shut down the StarWind SANs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure's pricing a six out of ten."
"The price of Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure is very good. There is a perpetual license for the solution, there are not any additional costs for the hardware. We have a license in case there is any new functionality that is required."
"This is a good, economical solution compared to data storage systems."
"We found that the pricing was perfect; simple and clear."
"The cost seems a bit steep, and I wish it was less expensive."
"The pricing is more than reasonable."
"This solution has a great price for the functionality."
"This solution has competitive prices and the implementation is very easy."
"The setup cost, pricing, and licensing are very straightforward. They are exactly what you expect."
"The cost takes into account the number of nodes, so the size of the storage is not important."
