Provides real-time monitoring and exceptional technical support
As a reseller, I think HP iLO can be improved in a few ways. HP has a lot of experience with iLO, but they need to work on synchronization between iLO and the system hardware. Sometimes when the system fails, iLO doesn't get the proper information from the system, so there's a need for improvement so it can provide real-time information for our engineers to give the correct solutions to customers. The only room for improvement I see is synchronization with the current hardware and socket because sometimes hardware fails, but the information is delayed on iLO. There are points of view where iLO logs and some logs are missing from the system, which prevents our engineers from finding the correct solution. We need to inform HP to improve their hardware part for better synchronization to ensure all the necessary information fills up properly in the logs.

Offers comprehensive monitoring and tool consolidation but integration complexity needs improvement
There is room for improvement in the speed of setting up the service and integrating PowerPacks. Although these prebuilt features are great, there is considerable complexity in bringing them together to create a unified dashboard. Even with many good integrations and deep visibility, the implementation takes time, especially when it doesn't involve these integrations. While some other companies have easier APIs, using this solution demands significant expertise. It's challenging for new customers to implement independently. The implementation speed of non-PowerPack or non-out-of-the-box integrations should be improved. Additionally, the AI automation feature is not yet very rich due to resource constraints supporting a wide platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO) is user-friendly, offering easy navigation and a nice GUI."
"HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO) has the best features for detecting any kind of hardware failure, such as any DIMM, HDD, system board, or PSU failures, providing real-time alarms with all necessary information."
"Improved network infrastructure monitoring which reduces any unplanned outages."
"Best feature of all is detailed monitoring of services, processes, ports and SSL certificates and or web content."
"It has a lot of integration capabilities as well; we can integrate with a lot of things, monitor emails and APIs, handle customization and automation, and there is a great dashboard with many features to take advantage of."
"The best feature is how customizable the platform is, as it can be integrated into various systems and processes and customized to the client's liking."
"However, once I began using ScienceLogic, I discovered that the main thing that fascinated me was discovering each and every child, which I had never seen in any monitoring tool."
"The many features offered for one price, including discovery, asset management, alerting, and ticketing, with simplified ease of integration across all features."
"Customer Service is fantastic."
"The support's been fantastic."

Cons

"I am currently avoiding HPE in my current build because of the pricing that is almost highway robbery. Service contracts are required to receive firmware updates."
"Sometimes when the system fails, iLO doesn't get the proper information from the system, so there's a need for improvement so it can provide real-time information for our engineers to give the correct solutions to customers."
"We want to understand: how does the back end work? What if some problem occurs? What we can do? They need to provide more information."
"Usability is important. The interface is nice, but very complex and requires lots of learning involved in managing and navigating the product."
"One of the main areas for improvement would be the reporting section of ScienceLogic."
"Reporting needs to be improved. It was sold as a tool we could use for our clients and it was a complete failure."
"We often face bugs when there's a new release."
"ScienceLogic does not have application monitoring. We definitely need something integrated within ScienceLogic to monitor applications so that we don't have to rely on monitoring tools to monitor other applications. At least the ones that are market leaders, such as SAP, Oracle, and others."
"They should add CLI command modes and scripts for high performance."
"ScienceLogic's technical support should respond more efficiently in terms of time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Decide what you want to monitor and only monitor those items. Absorb other elements as you grow."
"The pricing model for ScienceLogic could improve."
"It comes with the OS built in, so no need to purchase an OS license or DB license."
"Pricing between the two is quiet large therefore you can save some money if you don't require to collect all info on each device."
"Plan for adding more to it. Once you see EM7 in action, you will want to keep adding systems to monitor."
"I'm not the best person to discuss pricing, but what I do know is that it's a use-and-go structure. You use this much storage and pay this much for it. That's how it is. Every time, we continue to add a large amount of data to the environment."
"Its price could be lower, but for what you pay, you got a lot of value from its features and functionalities. Customers always want a discount or a cheaper solution."
"The solution is license-based. It's between $8 and $15, depending on what you need from the product."
