Effortless server management and automatic scaling boost productivity
The error logging system in Google App Engine could be enhanced. While there are troubleshooting documents with Google-defined error logs, identifying the exact root cause can be challenging. Often, issues must be escalated through support to product engineering teams who access internal logs for resolution. Increasing the visibility of logging would help users identify issues more easily. Regarding runtimes, the validity period limitations can be problematic. When companies use legacy applications, migrating to new versions requires significant code changes and isn't always a simple lift-and-shift operation. Google App Engine should consider continuing to provide security patches for legacy applications, especially for customers with substantial billing. The manual scaling feature needs improvement, as it isn't available for all runtimes. Adding this capability across all runtimes would be beneficial for controlling instance scaling within specific parameters.

A scalable and stable solution that has good scalability and is easy to setup
It is a scalable solution. I have yet to have a scenario regarding automatic scale and if there's an increase in resource requirement or need. We have yet to have that scenario. We have yet to test that. The scalability was more than manually adjusting and increasing whatever I had to do. I rate it eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is serverless, so we don't have to operate it."
"The initial setup is okay. It's not too complex. Deployment took about one day."
"Seurity features - unauthorized individuals are unable to access certain applications."
"The most valuable features of Google App Engine include the ease of rolling back deployments when failures occur, the ability to track deployment times, and the feature to split traffic between different instances."
"Google App Engine is highly scalable and can integrate easily with other applications."
"Administering App Engine is simple; it has intuitive UIs and a very scalable app engine."
"The product's setup and deployment phases are easy."
"Google App Engine's most valuable feature is self-management. You do not have to manage the infrastructure underneath where all the functions are happening, such as load balancing deployment and version management, they are managed by the system itself."
"The dynamic vertical scaling is a unique feature."
"The solution is scalable, and that is what we are looking at. There is no learning curve as we have not done much research."
"The control is valuable. It's really easy to use and you have good control of your solutions."
"The advanced level of production-ready Docker hosting, one-click application deployment, and the truly flexible pricing."
"Technical support from Jelastic is very good."

Cons

"The areas of Google App Engine I would to see improved or enhanced in the future include expanding inbuilt support for more programming languages than the current limited options such as Python, Go, and Node, ideally adding support for languages such as Java."
"I am limited to sending a photo to five people. I want to be able to send a photo to many people, not just five."
"Data consumption of the device could be improved."
"There needs to be more directions in terms of how to use the solution."
"There are two versions of Google App Engine: flexible and standard versions. I think they can improve by having only one version."
"The only concern is that there is a number of the offerings which are built on their own proprietary technologies. With some of the offerings in Google Cloud, it's difficult to have a path to migrate to other cloud providers."
"Some features of runtime don't work well in App Engine."
"I think there's still a lot that can be done with Google Meet and the video conferencing part of it. It could be more dynamic in terms of what can be done with it."
"The backup features need improvement, or rather it should be added, as I could not find it."
"Lacks better integration into enterprise storage products."
"The security layers also need to be improved because there is no clear layer or tier of security in the solution."
"For now, some customers are requesting support of Docker containers for Windows."
"The backup functionality needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We pay the license yearly. It's about $6 a month, which is $72 a year per person, so it's about $500."
"I would like to have more free application with it. Some of the applications, I am paying more for them. I think that they must be free."
"If we don't know how to work with the tool, we might have some spikes in price."
"Pricing for providers is revenue-shared based. Providers should invest in hardware to set up the Jelastic cluster."
"I would rate the cost 3 out of 5. There are additional costs other than licensing fees."
