We performed a comparison between Fortinet FortiEDR and Trend Micro Apex One based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Fortinet FortiEDR's scalability is quite good, and you can add licenses to the solution."
"I like FortiClient EMS. FortiEDR has a lot of great features like lockdown mode, remote wipes, and encryption. I can set malware outbreak policies and controls for detecting abnormalities. You can also simulate phishing attacks."
"The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors"
"Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work."
"The stability is very good."
"There's excellent data loss prevention to help prevent purposeful or accidental loss of data."
"Stable threat protection software that's quick to install. The security it provides is okay."
"Apex One offers a lot of bang for your buck. It includes an antivirus solution, DLP, app control, and all the other features found in endpoint protection solutions like Microsoft Defender. Many other solutions require additional licenses for different operating systems, but Trend Micro software bundles everything."
"Trend Micro Apex One is a seamless solution compared to others."
"It's made it easier for us to monitor the security environment in general."
"From a technology point of view, it is very simple to install, it's not heavy on the endpoint in terms of the amount of processing cycles. It is simple to deploy and the interfaces are easy. You don't need to be a scientist to operate it."
"It has the ability to share, which is not available in other products."
"When comparing to other products the console is much more user-friendly, and it's easy to implement."
"I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers."
"The support needs improvement."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"The solution's installation from a central installation server could be improved because the engineers had a little bit of trouble getting it installed from a central location."
"I haven't seen the use of AI in the solution."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"The solution is not stable."
"They could improve the integration with Active Directory."
"It is weak in terms of intelligence. By implementing Trend Micro Apex One, I wanted to see real-life scenarios. I deployed it on 50 clients to check if I could do lateral moments and zero-day exploits. I wanted to check how the zero-day protection works with Trend Micro. It fails with most of them because it is signature-based. They are not looking at the MITRE ATT&CK framework, so with zero-day attacks, it mostly fails."
"There is room for improvement in the behavior filtering and control of Trend Micro."
"I'd like to see the different interface components combined into one, or be allowed to get to the agent management portion without having to log into the main console."
"I think the one place where we like where they lacking is in a unified style dashboard."
"There is room for improvement in next-gen attacks protection."
"The console can be better in terms of management and viewing the hierarchy of devices. Currently, setting up the hierarchy OU-wise is a bit cumbersome. It can be made a bit easier. If that can be more user-friendly and easier to manage, it would be great."
"We're not sure if we're going to continue with those products or their products or we're going to switch to something else. That's why we stopped the immigration process. If we were going to replace another product, it's not really efficient to waste time on it moving patients and other clients."
