We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The main feature of Eggplant Test is that it can do fully automated web testing and app testing.""DAI's newest release allows us to test via scripts rather than models, because we have done 95 percent of our development in functional, not through modeling. I am really happy that then we can use the controller to run scripts rather than having to translate things to models. There are lots of options.""GUI testing is the strength of the tool. The tool works as expected, and the support response from eggPlant, as a company, has been quick and substantial.""The features that we like the most are the developer interface and the ability to quickly develop and deploy tests.""The solution is a stable one.""It is easy to set up.""The most valuable features would be the image recognition and the OCR.""It provides very strong cross-platform support."

"I use the solution for test management.""From a testing perspective, the management is awesome. I am able to do testing and then add the reporting and the evidence. It is fair in terms of the price that you're paying. You get what you're paying for.""Integration with Confluence and JIRA.""You don't need to follow complex procedures to create a test run, test case, etc.""The most valuable features of TestRail by Gurock are the user experience, it's very easy to learn. There is no learning curve needed to work on projects and manage the test cases, it is easy. Exporting and importing are simple.""The integration with Jira and the ability for extra configurations are the most valuable features.""I haven't faced any stability issues using the solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The ability to time test runs gives the tester the ability to compare calculated times to actual times it takes for a test case to run."

Cons
"In terms of additional features, it would be helpful to have one package for all testing. You have the manager, the AI, then you have functional, and about 10 different packages for installing.""The IDE could be even more full-featured. Because I was a developer, I was very spoiled by either Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio for shortcuts. For example, I was able to say "ctor" and hit Tab and it would create a template of a constructor for me... It would be great, when I want to create a new function, if there were shortcut commands like those that helped create all of the functions, or if there were shortcut features to do any of the complex plans.""The language is too specific; it is just for Eggplant.""There was no free trial in it.""If one area could be improved, it would be some of their documentation. In particular, some of their online help and user support documentation is a little bit out of date and could be revised and updated on a more frequent basis. Other than that, I haven't really found any issues or problems.""The reporting function is a bit shallow. The solution does not offer very comprehensive reporting in terms of your test results. The reporting time and the logs are very high level as well. These areas need improvement.""Eggplant Test should emphasize on improving its offering in non-Windows environments.""We found that we had issues regarding the VPN setup, which is one of the reasons that we did not purchase this solution."

More Eggplant Test Cons →

"It would be nice if they would add an export to Word.""It would be useful if it had its own issue management system. At the moment, it's purely a test management tool and you have to link to a defect management tool, like JIRA. It would be useful if there was an option to use its own defect management tool so that it's integrated and not two separate tools.""The test suite management has room for improvement as well as better reporting.""Their customer support could be improved. Sometimes we struggle with that. It could be faster. Whenever we raise any query, they get back to you but the turnaround time is very slow.""I have faced some issues with the integration between TestRail and Jira, which haven't been permanently resolved yet.""The reports should be more user-friendly.""The product is not focused on synthetic data creation. I would also like to see more integrations with other platforms.""It's not easy to create a custom report. It's not straightforward. A good improvement would be if there was a way to report and create a custom report without using a plugin or scripting language."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is scalable, but it is a matter of money in the pocket. You can scale it, but then you have to have additional licenses. The licensing approach of eggPlant is not the best."
  • "Make a smart decision about the number of developer- and execution-only licenses you purchase to maximize your budget. We found that going heavier on execution-only licenses has been a way to reduce our costs and maximize our ability to benefit from the software."
  • "End-to-end testing isn't possible for us because of the licensing problems. It's very expensive, so we only have two development/execution licenses."
  • "It probably has a yearly license."
  • "This solution is expensive when compared to the market. However, the reason it is more expensive is because of its stability, high performance, and for its support of any technology."
  • "Eggplant Test is a very expensive solution."

  • "Use TestRail Cloud (online TR hosted server) and don't worry about maintenance or scalability. It saves a lot of cash and time."
  • "My advice to others is to shop around for the best deal. Some options out there are free in cyberspace."
  • "Pricing for small teams seems correct with respect to competitors."
  • "Negotiate the best deal you can."
  • "Its price is definitely not more. If they introduce automation, they can charge more."
  • "The price of the solution is based on how many users you have per year. When you grow, it is segmented, For example, 10 to 25, you have a price, and more than 50, or 100, you need to take the enterprise license. I don't think we will reach this point."
  • "I give the price a five out of ten."
  • "The product is not much expensive."
