Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The single dashboard is a valuable feature.""We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Pros →

"Its ability to monitor failures and to restart a Windows service when it fails.""Some of the best features of eG are, in terms of APM, they have complete modules between application performance monitoring, server monitoring, and even storage and network-based monitoring. The UI is also quite good. They have some standard AI-based capabilities, even though it's not quite as advanced when compared to Dynatrace. eG has some good, basic APM capabilities.""The product is simple to use.""EG monitors all infrastructure elements (all OS, all database, storage, network, and web server) from a single console.""What I like about eG Enterprise is that it's easy to use. It's a simple product. You can get up to seventy-five to eighty percent of the required information based on real user experience and diagnostics.""Sometimes when we face issues with the new technologies or very old technologies where we cannot enhance the service, they move to work with us directly and start doing some development on this area which is very good for us.""Single pane of glass to review status of the full environment.""The topology view which provides a visual representation of a service and quickly allows identification of errors or degraded performance."

More eG Enterprise Pros →

"The most valuable features of InfluxDB are the documentation and performance, and the good plugins metrics in the ecosystem.""The user interface is well-designed and easy to use. It provides a clear overview of the data, making it simple to understand the information at hand.""The most valuable features are aggregating the data and integration with Graphana for monitoring.""InfluxDB's best feature is that it's a cloud offering. Other good features include its time-series DB, fast time-bulk queries, and window operations.""In our case, it started with a necessity to fill the gap that we had in monitoring. We had very reactive monitoring without trend analysis and without some advanced features. We were able to implement them by using a time series database. We are able to have all the data from applications, logs, and systems, and we can use a simple query language to correlate all the data and make things happen, especially with monitoring. We could more proactively monitor our systems and our players' trends.""The solution is very powerful.""The most valuable feature of the solution is we can use InfluxDB to integrate with and plug into any other tools.""InfluxDB is a database where you can insert data. However, it would be best if you had different components for alerting, data sending, and visualization. You need to install tools to collect data from servers. It must be installed on Windows or Linux servers. During installation, ensure that the configuration file is correct to prevent issues. Once data is collected, it can be sent to InfluxDB. For visualization, you can use open-source tools like Grafana."

Cons
"The technical support needs improvement.""The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"Dashboards are difficult to create, and not so useful.""Application TCP latency is an area with room for improvement, but I believe this is already on the roadmap.""I can understand why they designed the user interface (UI) the way they did, but sometimes in the management of the eG Manager, it can be a bit clunky.""The integration must be improved.""The solution should improve on the security side and include some more API integrations into wider application platforms.""The interface could be improved as it is not real intuitive. It is not user-friendly.""In terms of areas for improvement in eG Enterprise, we are now moving most of our services to the OpenShift platform, and we need a way to monitor even containerized services or any service deployed on OpenShift, but that feature is still not available in eG Enterprise, so it's not good enough for us.""Back-end configuration is not easy to implement."

More eG Enterprise Cons →

"In terms of features that I would like to see or have, in the community version, some features are not available. I would like to have clustering and authentication in the community version.""InfluxDB is generally stable, but we've encountered issues with the configuration file in our ticket stack. For instance, a mistake in one of the metrics out of a hundred KPIs can disrupt data collection for all KPIs. This happens because the agent stops working if there's an issue with any configuration part. To address this, it is essential to ensure that all configurations are part of the agent's EXE file when provided. This makes it easier to package the agent for server installation and ensures all KPIs are available from the server. Additionally, the agent cannot encrypt and decrypt passwords for authentication, which can be problematic when monitoring URLs or requiring authentication tokens. This requires additional scripting and can prolong service restart times.""The solution doesn't have much of a user interface.""InfluxDB cannot be used for high-cardinality data. It's also difficult and time-consuming to write queries, and there are some issues with bulk API.""I've tried both on-premises and cloud-based deployments, and each has its limitations.""The error logging capability can be improved because the logs are not very informative.""The solution's UI can be more user-friendly.""InfluxDB can improve by including new metrics on other technologies. They had some changes recently to pool data from endpoints but the functionality is not good enough in the industry."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "You may get some monitoring products with certain licensing you may own. Some of these can take ages to configure and setup, along with needing a license to drive the software."
  • "If using eG for virtual desktops, carefully calculate whether per named user, per concurrent user, or per server"
  • "It'd be nice if the price was lower. That would be an improvement."
  • "They are aligned with other enterprise solutions."
  • "It is not expensive."
  • "They gave us a good price, when they were found out we were looking at other products because their price was very high. We were looking at another solution, then we came back to them was because they brought the price down. We selected them for three years."
  • "We paid about 300,000 Saudi Riyal for the solution and it was quite affordable compared to the competition."
  • "There are two licensing options: Perpetual and SaaS-based. The main offering, in terms of what eG prefers to offer, is the subscription-based rather than the Perpetual License. The price could be cheaper."
