Monitoring has become centralized and management now sees real‑time health of key network assets
The time investment required is significant, not because of difficulty but because of the need for free time to invest in it. We need to get the knowledge. We know there are many options, but we took an external vendor to install and make the customization. If we want to make others changes without paying for customization, we need to learn it deeply by ourselves. The tutorials are very complicated. They could work on that area. The tutorial part could be more simplified. I know there are many explanations, and you can get help or documents in one click on the current page in the product, but it is not very clear. If you want to do something new that you did not see from the vendor in the installation, it is not very simple. The documents are good for people that know how to operate the product well, but for new users, it is not simple.

Monitors traffic, analyzes flows, tracks packets, and measures bandwidth across our network
We use TruView primarily for network performance analysis and monitoring. It helps us track traffic, flows, packets, and bandwidth to understand our network's condition and detect any anomalies or attacks. However, the product's age limits its advanced features for performance analysis. The main advantage lies in its low cost and reliable functionality, as we have a permanent license and do not require support. Real-time monitoring in TruView is somewhat limited, as there is a delay of about five minutes in data updates, making it less effective for immediate insights.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"They are very good; I open up a case and hear back from them the same day, they are very knowledgeable and helpful, and if I do not have time to research something and need it fixed, I just tell them and they take care of it, even connecting remotely to do it themselves sometimes."
"If you are looking for the right monitoring tool, Spectrum is one of the best solutions."
"With the timely alerts that our MTTR reduced, we could determine the impact of the outage as well as the root cause of the issue."
"It's a mature product and has been around for a long time."
"The performance manager is very good."
"Spectrum is very useful for us, because the product lets us monitor and control all the various components of our infrastructure that support our business from an IT perspective."
"The most valuable features of DX Spectrum are the comprehensive alerts."
"It's a good tool. It's simple to do the configuration."
"Visual TruView helped our network team respond to potential issues before they became larger ones."
"The most valuable feature for us was the ability to monitor sites and get a nice overview of all the data in a single view."
"It gives us the ability to determine the root of a problem or a network, whether it's on the network side, the database, application server, or server infrastructure."
"TruView takes only minutes to install."

Cons

"There are a very few occasions when the system "barfs" and it looks like your infrastructure has gone dark, but it bounces back quickly (the system)."
"The biggest issue is our integration right now between UIM and Spectrum is lacking."
"There is still room for improvement for mobile clients like tablets and smartphones."
"The only area which I found that can be improved is that sometimes issues come up with alert clearing i.e. alerts don't clear when triggered and clear events occur too fast."
"The solution's stability needs improvement."
"The price is high enough to expect an ideal solution."
"I think the management or configuration of devices needs some improvement."
"CA Broadcom support is very bad—one of the worst."
"I can't give them quite a 10, because from time to time, I'll work with the folks who, not that they're not good, but there are some who are just phenomenal."
"One area that could be improved is the reporting features. In the version transformation from ten to eleven, the platform changed from a Windows-based platform to a Linux-based platform. As a result, the previous reporting feature using Crystal Reports was no longer available. Instead, we had to generate PDF dashboard reports, which were not as flexible."
"We have faced delays in data retrieval and the lack of support due to the product being out of service."
"Whilst Citrix could be handled better like their nGenius product line (which does an excellent job) it copes with the centralised type of deployment TruView covers."
