It shows us not only when utilization is high, but also when it's low
An online app or download would be useful for the next release, possibly even a phone app that I could use to view my dashboard when I am stationed remotely. Besides a call center, we have a lot of employees in the field and on the road, therefore for management to have access to those numbers quickly, it would be very helpful.

Monitoring has become centralized and management now sees real‑time health of key network assets
The time investment required is significant, not because of difficulty but because of the need for free time to invest in it. We need to get the knowledge. We know there are many options, but we took an external vendor to install and make the customization. If we want to make others changes without paying for customization, we need to learn it deeply by ourselves. The tutorials are very complicated. They could work on that area. The tutorial part could be more simplified. I know there are many explanations, and you can get help or documents in one click on the current page in the product, but it is not very clear. If you want to do something new that you did not see from the vendor in the installation, it is not very simple. The documents are good for people that know how to operate the product well, but for new users, it is not simple.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"MetricsView allows us to keep an eye on computer memory, internal network availability, processors, etc. Letting us know where our issues are coming from based on those numbers."
"It allows us to easily troubleshoot computer issues instead of calling a tech person or do the troubleshooting ourselves and taking the time to do it."
"It shows us not only when utilization is high, but also when it is low."
"It has allowed us to save time, and this is extremely valuable as a company."
"For network management, this application is by far the best."
"The most valuable feature is the event correlation mechanism."
"It is an awesome product; it works really well."
"Without a doubt the most valuable feature of this solution is its scalability."
"As a user of it, it's been fantastic just because it does so many things all in one configuration section."
"The valuable features of this tool are its scalability and ability to automate inputs and outputs of a closed system."
"The automation we have in place saves us some head count and data is now more accurate."
"Scalability and performance are great."

Cons

"An online app or download would be useful for the next release, possibly even a phone app that I could use to view my dashboard when I am stationed remotely."
"A big problem for us now is the Java requirement for the console."
"Yes, IM was very shaky and it seemed like CA were throwing hotfixes at us to fend us off until the next release."
"Integration with some other tools, and integration with some Network Packet Broker, need some improvement."
"While deploying the tool, there were space and storage issues since the application loads for a long period each time there is an update."
"Support from Broadcom could be better. Sometimes we wait a very long time for a solution to level three problems."
"Today with Spectrum we work in a reactive way where we notice problems after they occur."
"The GIS map feature needs to be enhanced and synced with topology views of containers and global collections."
"This solution is too complicated to use for us, especially if you have many components."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The price is good enough to expect an ideal solution. It's expensive."
"The cost of some of these products are a little cost prohibitive, which is unfortunate. We have to find lower cost solutions for some of the things that we have to pull in. For the most part, CA has capabilities in pretty much everything that you would need. You just have to figure out where are you going to spend the most money for what you have to actually get done. You can do all these things but, which ones do you have to do? And that's hard to choose sometimes because you want to do them all."
"Currently, a perpetual license but some services are moving to a subscription"
"It’s a great tool, but an expensive one. Learn how to use it properly."
"It is very pricey. With the current trend of enterprises moving towards cheaper and more modern looking solutions like ManageEngine, SevOne, ServicePilot, and Paesller."
"Spectrum is expensive."
"Since the acquisition by Broadcom, we have not had such a good experience with licensing and pricing. Since they were bought by Broadcom, every sales contract is getting complicated. It's very complicated, and it's much more expensive than before. It's not a good pricing strategy from Broadcom."
"The price is very high."
