We performed a comparison between Dell RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines and Rubrik based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Disaster Recovery (DR) Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable features are the data center recovery administration and the time of recovery."
"One of the standout features of Dell RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines is its real-time data protection capability."
"Point-in-time recovery and ease of deployment are valuable."
"The installation is straightforward if the version you have is compatible with your infrastructure."
"The solution is quite stable. We haven't experienced any kind of bug or glitch. We haven't experienced crashes."
"RecoverPoint replicates workloads fast."
"The most valuable feature is that it is journal-based and you don't have to replicate a lot of data."
"Continuous replication with lower RTO and RPO is the most innovative feature. Its tight integration with VMware for VMware VMs is also valuable."
"It has also saved us time managing backups. It's pretty stable. So it sends us a report if something goes wrong, then you get a report. You don't really need to manually monitor this software over time. If something happens, you'll get an error and you'll get an email notification and then address it. We found the product pretty stable if it's configured correctly. So it has reduced management time."
"The search functionality is second to none as the speed of the search is fast across the whole system and predictive."
"Rubrik has led to improvement by reducing the amount of failed backups, leading to a reduced workload in IT operations."
"The feature that I found most valuable is Live Mount. You can either mount a virtual machine from a snapshot, or you can mount a volume from the snapshot. You can mount one disk to the server to retrieve data, or you can mount the whole VM, rename it, and use it as a test VM. If your VM gets corrupted, you just mount one from the snapshot, and you have your production VM's backup. So, Live Mount is definitely the best feature for me as an end-user."
"Disk mount that lets a restore happen immediately, no need to re-hydrate."
"The most valuable feature is the Instant Recovery, where we can restore a VM or SQL database or any server or application, and have it up and running on their appliance within a few seconds."
"One platform for instant recovery."
"What I like about Rubrik is that you can back up to the cloud. It is a different kind of backup where you're not archiving the tape. Rubrik is a physical appliance. It is a dedicated appliance to which you can back up, and you can also back up to another device. So, you can back up to Rubrik and then to another device. If you have more than one site, you can set up Rubrik on site A and also on site B. You can back up to the Rubrik on site A and then replicate that data to the Rubrik on site B."
"The solution could improve by being more easier to use. However, once you have used it for a while it becomes easier. Additionally, there could be better support and compatibility with management by having a command-line interface. This would be beneficial for the customers."
"In the next release of this software, I would like to see options that help to decrease the bandwidth required, such as compressing the data."
"It would be good to have a critical application on the customer side."
"I would like to see integration with EMC NetWorker in the next release."
"I would like to have the HTML 5 interface working because it is currently not functioning with the VMware environment."
"The solution is not easy to use. It's actually quite hard. If it could be simplified it might be better for the end user."
"The configuration process seems a bit challenging, and the installation takes a bit longer than expected."
"It should have features for recovering a group of virtual machines and full-scale security. For recovering all the VMs at once, they don't have a GUI option, and we have to use the command line."
"They have what's called an organization which means different groups of access to Rubrik, but the alerting only goes to the admins. My suggestion to Rubrik is to make sure that the separate organizations or groups of users get the appropriate alerting."
"We would like to be able to do granular restores directly from Exchange. Also, more granular management of VM backups would help."
"A singular system is needed to manage all of the clusters."
"The functionality is missing, but they are very receptive to our thoughts and ideas."
"There could be better reporting and better filtering."
"The solution needs to be more secure and needs to better protect against ransomware."
"The reporting in the dashboard and reporting for extractions both need improvement. I would suggest making them easier to understand and use, not just out-of-the-box. We should also be able to customize them."
"They support Hyper-V and it works with our CloudOut, the cloud DR, but they seem to add features for VMware first and Hyper-V gets added second or sometimes several releases after the VMware feature comes out."
