Offers replication flexibility across multiple environments, including local centers and secondary sites
It offers key features like any point-in-time recovery without needing scheduled snapshots. It allows for automated VM protection during processes like failover and testing, and it offers replication flexibility across multiple environments, including local centers and secondary sites. It also provides IP address management when network configurations differ across sites.

Technical support has improved my data management process but I encounter GUI and cost challenges
The solution is available in the Azure Marketplace, but approaching directly is more cost-effective. The Marketplace approach incurs additional platform and reporting costs. We initially built Rubrik at host level and DB level. We encountered latency issues when reverting back, with numerous snapshots available. This resulted in increased costs and occupied spaces. I performed manual deletion of snapshots and verified with the Rubrik team for confirmation. The GUI reporting functionality lacks flexibility. For instance, obtaining specific server reports considering drive space and backup quantities is not possible, as it only provides overall reporting.

Pros

"RecoverPoint replicates workloads fast."
"The product's initial setup phase was quite easy to install."
"The installation is straightforward if the version you have is compatible with your infrastructure."
"One of the standout features of Dell RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines is its real-time data protection capability."
"Continuous replication with lower RTO and RPO is the most innovative feature. Its tight integration with VMware for VMware VMs is also valuable."
"It is a point-in-time restore, which is quite handy."
"One person can do the whole implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the solution."
"Dell RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines offers key features like any point-in-time recovery without needing scheduled snapshots."
"I don't know if it is the best or the worst but it's very easy to install and very easy to balance. Sometimes that it's a problem because the installer of these data gets extremely scared because it's so easy. The product is easy to install, easy to balance, and easy to work with. Another really good point is the instant recovery."
"The file search feature across all backups has been helpful."
"The main benefit is that we are secured in terms of workloads. We know that if we need to restore any VMs, or even any files inside a VM, that we will succeed 100 percent. This means that we don't need to spend much time administering the backup environment because we know it is self-healing and efficient. So, we are spending that time on something else, which is always a plus."
"A reduced infrastructure complexity and fast to rack and go."
"It has the ability to test DR in a controlled, inexpensive way and to restore between environments."
"It has the ability to test DR in a controlled, inexpensive way and to restore between environments."
"The most valuable feature is the archive to cloud location and the automation around the PowerShell script."
"It improved the backup/restore process by a factor of a 1000."

Cons

"The price of this product could be lower."
"This product is not as easy to use as some other solutions."
"The solution is not easy to use. It's actually quite hard."
"It should have features for recovering a group of virtual machines and full-scale security. For recovering all the VMs at once, they don't have a GUI option, and we have to use the command line."
"It would be good to have a critical application on the customer side."
"In some cases, the response times could improve, but we haven't had issues with their support."
"Their L1 support is not so good as of now. They have recently outsourced to a company, and they are not doing good."
"The biggest challenge we faced was attempting replication between two different kinds of storage systems, like IBM on one side and Dell EMC storage systems on the other, before opting for VPLEX."
"Initially, we encountered compatibility challenges with some of our technologies."
"There are some features to improve on in Rubrik. For instance, they should have a tool where we can integrate with our SAP HANA."
"The recovery of Oracle databases is too complicated."
"The user interface could be improved, it's pretty rough."
"The solution needs to be more secure and needs to better protect against ransomware."
"The interface is still slightly clunky and has room for improvement. They do work with us whenever we mention anything that needs to be done or anything that we want. We find that bringing up the management interface is a little slow and not as intuitive as we would like, but it's been getting better as it evolves."
"They support Hyper-V and it works with our CloudOut, the cloud DR, but they seem to add features for VMware first and Hyper-V gets added second or sometimes several releases after the VMware feature comes out."
"I would like for unmanaged backups to be able to be saved in a separate policy."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a license required for this solution and the pricing depends on how many virtual machines you have."
"This is an expensive product."
"It was a part of a backup solution. So, it was free for us."
"Pricing-wise, it is pretty much fair for any customer who only has a VMware environment. Licensing is based on the number of VMs that you want to protect at any given point in time. Licensing is not based on size."
"The tool is expensive. If one means cheaply priced and ten means expensive, I rate the tool's price as a seven."
"This is not a very cheap solution and compared to others, it is expensive."
"Rubrik is an expensive solution."
"Due to this effective, faster backup and recovery solution, we are now able to focus on other creative tasks to meet our entire pipeline. So, we have seen ROI in terms of the improvement of productivity in our team. We save around one million dollars a year."
"Some people say it is expensive, but you get what you pay for. If you want a Maserati, you have to pay for it. If you want to buy a Porsche, you have to pay for it."
"The pricing and licensing of Rubrik is better than products that we've had in the past. It was quite a bit cheaper than Commvault and NetBackup."
"Rubrik is an all inclusive price. No additional implementation costs or licencing."
"It is a great value, but its cost is still a bit high."
"I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten."
"Rubrik is a little bit expensive, but it's worth the price."
