Ensures data safety and effective cloud integration with AI-powered protection
Dell PowerProtect DP (IDPA) offers a backup, recovery, and management tool that is very easy to use. It provides a flexible protection suite that accommodates scalability and performance needs. Integration with VMware and multi-cloud protection is effective. AI integration enhances backup operations by analyzing data and ensuring malware protection. Customers also benefit from hybrid cloud options and tiers of backup.

A stable and economical solution that provides quick disaster recovery
The most valuable feature of Quorum OnQ is quick recovery. We call it a single-click recovery. If any server goes down, crashes, or experiences downtime, we can bring up the DR (Disaster Recovery) server in just two minutes. We also have a "Single Pane of Glass," wherein we work with only a single window. You don't have to use multiple windows to perform basic tasks like failover or failback.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the deduplication rate."
"Instead of four or five tools, consisting of backup software, storage where the backup resides, and a separate system for reporting and central monitoring, they all now come in the virtual edition for IDP."
"The product is easy to troubleshoot and store data."
"The solution is strong."
"The product is integrated with Huawei software and its backup and recovery time is very fast."
"It backs up our Windows systems and our Linux systems and everything."
"We don't need to manage different devices."
"We use it for complete backup and recovery. We have multiple clients and have created multiple large virtual capabilities and zoning backlogs."
"From a disaster-recovery point of view, one of the things I really like is that I can test the virtual copy of the physical server on a test network and compare the servers side-by-side, without interfering with the production network. So I can see and make sure that the latest copy of the server is the physical copy of the server, without interfering with production."
"It provides a smooth training experience and easy terminology for those in the advocacy world."
"The change in the way that Quorum processes data has made a tremendous improvement in backup and replication times. While the familiar interface remains, the underpinnings have been finely tuned and the speed is incredible. My large Exchange Server went from 5- to 6-hour backups down to 22 minutes."
"I have used the BMR (Bare Metal Restore) in several emergencies and it has absolutely saved my bacon."
"I like this product because it is easy to use."
"The most valuable feature of Quorum OnQ is quick recovery."
"The biggest feature is being able to do a file recovery to the original server. That is extremely useful and has saved us a few times when we've had ransomware. In some of those cases, people's computers were locked down by viruses which spread to things they had access to, including server shares. But we were easily able to just restore to four hours prior, instead of a day or two or more ago."
"The most valuable feature is spinning up a ready-to-go VM in a test or production environment that is based on a backup stored on the Quorum device."

Cons

"The solution's implementation was very complicated and could be improved."
"We would like to see the pricing drop a bit."
"The product's index master feature needs improvement."
"The solution should be easier to use."
"The two-factor authentication is missing from Dell products."
"The only thing that could be improved would be the complexity of the initial setup."
"The price could be lowered slightly, to make it more competitive."
"I would like to see integration with Dell EMC's Cloud Tier."
"Lacks compatibility in terms of supporting other OS."
"I would really like it if they followed comparable products from other vendors and had an option where you could offload to tape. I know it sounds incredibly antiquated, but the benefit I see is that there would be a better air gap than you have with backing up to an online source."
"They have radio buttons that allow multiselection, which is not intuitive. Also, the URL for our environments is the same, making it confusing for management when handling different departments with different needs."
"One thing that could be done to improve it would be a single pane of glass for doing disaster recovery testing, where I could have remote consoles in one place... I still have to go to each location in a browser and then bring up the console. I'd like to see them integrate that into a single pane of glass so I don't have to go to each server."
"The cost could be reduced."
"They have radio buttons that allow multiselection, which is not intuitive."
"It feels to me like it's going to be a little bit more work than I originally anticipated when upgrading the appliance. I haven't done that yet so I can't speak from true experience, but I went through the project plan and it feels to me like there's quite a number of pieces and components and things that have to be done. Quorum is going to manage the rollout, but in starting the initial conversation there were a lot of unanswered questions"
"The price of Quorum OnQ could be improved. We were exploring the product in terms of having a partnership with the distributor so that we could operate as a service, but for our own use, within the company, we couldn't justify the price unless the servers would become an option later on. The upfront cost of purchasing a license for the hardware is quite steep."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a cost-effective solution."
"Dell PowerProtect DP (IDPA) has a yearly subscription fee."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"The licensing is billed on a monthly basis. Dell is bundled so that when you order IDPA, you get everything together with the license."
"We have a perpetual license. It is a capacity-based license."
"We have never questioned whether it is worth it because it so obviously is a great value."
"The solution’s pricing is economical."
"The upfront cost of purchasing a license for the hardware is quite steep."
"Quorum OnQ can be described as a medium-priced product...There are no ingress and egress charges in the product."
"The pricing is about $1,400 a month. It's a little bit on the higher side. But it's one of those situations where time is valuable for me. So if it costs a little bit more money for me to have a solution that just works and requires less of my day-to-day management, I'm willing to pay a little bit more."
"The total for our current solution's licensing is about $14,000 for 12 servers for three years."
"The cost is higher than other software and services, but it is an absolute must-have."
"When we first got the Quorum the licensing was different."
