We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"All our junior partners can administer the storage arrays. It is simple and easy to use. We don't have to dedicate a whole team of full time people to work on it.""All updates, upgrades, and hardware work are all performed on-line with no impact.""I like the speed, and I like the API and how programmable it is.""The first set up we had was really straight forward and simple.""Redundancy and the fault tolerance of the platform are the most impressive.""The sales and executive support have been outstanding compared to the rest of the market... My upgrade paths have been simple on the Pure... It's a lot simpler to implement and a lot simpler to manage.""The back-end data reporting for Pure Storage is phenomenal. The data that you can see on the performance of your customers' array, so you can be proactive about upgrades or enhancements, and is a phenomenal tool to have access to as a partner. I haven't seen this type of stuff out of anything of the other storage systems.""Having fast storage allows actual servers to perform in high capacity so we don't have slowdowns on our applications."

"It's very fast. We were seeing read latencies of less than one millisecond. It is robust.""High performance and ease-of-management are the most valuable features.""It has reduced our electricity usage by reducing the amount of disks needed for the virtual environment.""It performed great originally, and when it performed great, it was awesome.""It provides a combination of all the protocols that you need, without losing deduplication and compression.""Data Compression: Up to 80% space reduction in the database""The initial setup is straightforward.""EasyTier/hotcaching: Valuable because it allows greater performance than standard SAS disks"

"Most storage arrays when you buy them, they call it a "forklift upgrade," where a forklift comes in there and pulls out the old storage, and brings in a new storage. But with Reduxio, it can use all your old storage arrays, whether they're NetApp, or IBM, or EMC, or HPE, as targets for doing backups.""The down-to-the-second restore capability, native to the device is a valuable feature.""I have an every second undo button for all my applications. I call Reduxio "the ransomware killer".""It has a very intuitive interface, it integrates more smoothly with our steps. With a different product from a different manufacturer, there are a lot more steps required to set up a volume, to make it available in VMware and to utilize it there.""The BackDating feature which allows us to go back to any point in the past at one second granularity, is an amazing feature and allows us to recover from any mishap to our data – whether it's a malware attack, an application error or a human error. We have never seen this capability in any other storage product.""We were also pleased to learn that Reduxio also has, beside dedup and compression that actually works, the "time machine" built in, which allows you to go back a few seconds or a few minutes before a ransomware attack gets you.""Any time I have needed anything, from a simple question to someone to be onsite, the customer service has been exceptional.""One of the beautiful parts about it is the whole user interface. It's almost too simple. As an IT professional, you think, "Where are the works, how am I assured that this is actually protecting my data?" The ease of use in terms of deployment, and also the metrics that it feeds back to you are also among the many attractive features of the whole platform."

Cons
"In the next release of the solution I would like to see Vormetric native block encryption.""The file functionality could be better.""It is a bit expensive.""Pure Storage FlashArray could improve some aspects. There are certain features that are good and there are some features that I see some issues with at the technical level. Those issues are related to replication. They need to resolve those issues, which I have already highlighted to the Pure team. Additionally, there are some issues in the active cluster that could improve.""I would love for them to have a hyper-converged solution.""The price of this solution could be improved.""In the next release, I would like to see file-level encryption.""I would like some performance analytics which go deeper than today. It should be specific to some hosts and applications. This would be good."

More Pure Storage FlashArray Cons →

"In the proxy section you can’t choose a user account and password, so it is not allowed at the moment to go out, if customer has such constellation.""We had just one small stability problem with power flapping and it did not start up again automatically. We had to access service ports and manually restart the storage processors.""Snapshots are not as easy to access as on a NetApp device.""It's somewhat scalable, but maybe not so much as some of the competition.""It only keeps one hour of real-time data without the ability to do deep analysis of each element.""Technical support is bad. It'd grade them at 30% or 40%. The response time is terrible.""Performance is horrible now. Our original intent was to buy new storage in about two years. But since it became a critical urgency for us, we decided to purchase a new one in two or three months.""They need to offer better integration for a virtual platform to enable you to create hyper-converged solution."

More DDN IntelliFlash Cons →

"I would love to see deeper integration with VMware vSphere/vCenter. Right now, I can edit existing Reduxio datastore sizes in the vSphere web client. Provisioning new datastores that way would be nice.""A centralized management would be nice, the ability to manage all cluster in one management portal.""They're trying to do this, but they need to show more what their growth plan is, the development, what the next steps are, the future.""The only critique that we have is it needs the ability to have local users added. You have to log in as one built-in admin account. You can't create your own.""Scalability. Reduxio has only one product, they don’t have an option, for now, to expand the storage product.""Maybe it should come in stainless steel, just like its DeLorean time machine predecessor.""I would love an iPhone app to monitor my system from outside the firewall.""There is only thing I can think of at the moment, that would be detailed printable reports."

    Overview

Pure Storage FlashArray is the world’s first enterprise-class storage array that runs exclusively on the nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) protocol for memory access and storage. It represents a totally state-of-the-art type of storage technology. It offers users shared accelerated storage that delivers cutting-edge features in the realms of performance, simplicity, and consolidation. Pure Storage is fresh and modern today and will be for the next decade. Without forklift upgrades or planned downtime, Pure Storage takes the work out of storage ownership and delivers unprecedented customer satisfaction.

Pure Storage FlashArray is built with simplicity and reliability in mind. The solution can be implemented and optimized in hours, as opposed to other similar solutions that can take days. It has no moving parts, which removes areas where it could potentially be vulnerable to suffering errors. It is highly stable and gives users the ability to manage system shutdowns in a way that  prevents data loss.

    Benefits of Pure Storage FlashArray

Some of the benefits of using Pure Storage FlashArray include:

    • A much higher level of speed than similar pieces of technology. Pure Storage FlashArray maximizes the speed at which data can be transferred while at the same time minimizing system latencies that might slow the transfer down. Additionally, it offers users quick memory read and data access speeds.

    • A higher bang for your buck in terms of the storage capabilities you get for the money you pay. They are smaller in size than more standard storage technologies, but they offer flash memory, which enables users to store larger amounts of data than the current standard.

    Reviews from Real Users

Pure Storage FlashArray is a highly effective piece of storage technology which stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its overall robustness and the value that it offers by way of its reliability and ease of use. It provides users with many valuable features that allow them to maximize what they can do with this solution. Pure Storage FlashArray’s reliability and ease of use make it a highly valuable solution.

PeerSpot user Prabakaran K., a technical consultant at Injazat Data Systems, notes the robustness of this solution when he writes, "FlashArray has many valuable features. It's very user-friendly and it has high availability, so there is comparatively less downtime. During maintenance, there is no shutdown procedure, so you can directly power off the Array and manage the shutdown process without any data loss, which is a unique feature. Managing replication and data migration is also very easy."

PeerSpot user Jason D., a cloud solutions architect at a tech services company, notes three features that make this solution valuable when he writes, "We've had different types of storage, and three things of this solution are valuable. The first one is its outstanding performance. The second one is its stability. In the about three years that we've had it, we've had component failures, but we never had a service interruption or any data loss. The third one, which is really critical, is that it is super easy to use in terms of provisioning, storage, and managing the arrays. I'm able to maintain a multi-site environment with a couple of dozen arrays with a single mid-level storage admin."

Western Digital through its IntelliFlash arrays delivers high-performance storage with a complete range of features and connectivity options, including inline compression and deduplication, application and VM consistent snapshots, replication, RAID, data encryption, VMware vCenter integration, and multi-protocol support for SAN (FC, iSCSI) and NAS (NFS, SMBv3). IntelliFlash arrays deliver high availability through dualredundant and hot-swappable components, active/active or active/passive controllers, non-disruptive software upgrades, eMLC flash, and proactive cloud-based monitoring, analytics, and intelligence. A RESTful API provides scripted or programmatic control.

Reduxio's HX550 flash hybrid storage arrays, based on Reduxio's TimeOS storage operating system allow you to recover application data to any second in the past, eliminates most of the complexity associated with managing storage, and provides exceptional performance and efficiency, far exceeding anything available today.
