We performed a comparison between Commvault and Veeam Backup Replication based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.

Ease of Deployment: For the most part, users of Commvault felt that unless you have a high level of technical knowledge, it is rather difficult to deploy and that not just anyone can set up this solution. The opposite is true of Veeam Backup Replication, whose reviewers feel that for the most part it is easy and straightforward to deploy.

Features: Commvault has many valuable features, including its ability to integrate with many different platforms, encryption to protect from ransomware, as well as its compression and duplication features. However, users say that the Commvault console is rather complex and takes a long time to learn. They contend that the console should be easier to use. Additionally, they say that it could use better data backup for the Office 365 platform. Among Veeam Backup Replication’s most valuable features are its ability to scale up in a variety of environments, its adaptability, and its intuitive interface. Reviewers of Veeam Backup Replication feel that there is much room for its scalability to improve, though. They also write that Veeam Backup Replication’s reporting feature could use some work.

Pricing: Reviewers feel that Commvault seems to be a little on the expensive side, whereas Veeam Backup Replication has a free to use version.

Service and Support: Users of both solutions note that for the most part they are supported by excellent technological support teams.

ROI: Users of both solutions note that for the most part, some level of ROI can be expected.

Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, Veeam Backup Replication seems to be the superior solution. Our reviewers found Commvault difficult to deploy and rather expensive to purchase. Veeam did better in these categories.

Their support is very fast when resolving our problems

The most valuable features are the integration with the storage center and support for most applications, databases, and security system platforms that exist on the market. The user interface for Commvault is quite user-friendly. It is easy to manage the Commvault environment using the user interface. Commvault Command Center is fully supported and has many features for us to manage the environment. Commvault is able to do the recovery process from their console, so we don't have to actually log into it. Also, Commvault can direct information to another server. The recovery option is a very good feature. I can collect the target data, then we connect it to Commvault. There is not another system that can connect to our target database or target storage. This is very important for us, because there is the threat of malware right now. This can protect not only the product, but also the backup data from outside threats. Commvault supports remote office backup. It backs up the local data, then keeps monitoring and managing it.
