Effective project management and organization streamline task allocation
I feel that Codebeamer's workflow engine is working fine for me as of now, but there are better tools than Codebeamer available. Codebeamer is an old tool, and newer tools such as Jira offer a more appealing user interface. Codebeamer's UI is somewhat boring, while Jira's is more exciting and user-friendly. Other than the user interface, I would to see improvements in Codebeamer as it appears boring. The UI has been the same for a long time, and they haven't changed anything in that regard. It should be more colorful and interactive, and easier to navigate. When I initially used Jira before coming to this company, transitioning to Codebeamer felt challenging for someone unfamiliar with it. Compared to Jira, Codebeamer can be difficult for a layperson to understand.

Has supported highly regulated documentation needs but requires a modernized user experience
I think usability should be improved in IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) as the top priority. If you look at the UI, it was literally designed ten years ago, and even at the time it was introduced, it was already somewhat outdated. Even though it is a professional tool, nowadays people expect at least some level of usability from their tools, regardless of how professional the task is. Additionally, if you want to utilize it on a wide scale in an organization, you need to train every person to use it. There is always a threshold for new users to start using it.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The key features of Codebeamer include templates and basic structures, most of which are created and readily available for deployment out of the box, reducing deployment time."
"The features related to metrics are very useful."
"Utilizing Codebeamer has helped my organization by saving time in our processes."
"You can track the metrics in the Agile dashboard very easily."
"One of the most valuable features of Codebeamer is its strong performance."
"Other benefits observed from using Codebeamer include its excellent release management and access management features."
"CodeBeamer provides full traceability, excellent collaboration, regulatory compliance, and instant reporting with its holistic approach from requirement management to testing."
"The biggest advantage of Codebeamer is its ability to directly use built-in project management modules without the need for extensive customization."
"The transition to a SaaS-based solution is a distinct advantage."
"It is very flexible and powerful for creating workflows, and in fact, it is the best solution available for creating workflows."
"The cataloging is a very valuable feature. For a lot of enterprises, they end up not knowing which applications do specific features. The cataloging helps with this. It's not that verbose, but it still gives you allowances to put in more detail."
"The most valuable feature is the reporting of the CPU usage on the dashboard."
"The tools for requirement capture we have found very useful."
"You can customize the board according to your needs."
"Everyone in a team can work on the same platform and share the same information."
"For companies in heavily regulated industries who are doing product development, IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) is a good tool as it helps them create documentation that satisfies auditors."

Cons

"I find it very simple and easy to use, but there are several areas in need of improvement."
"I would like to see more, easily trackable reports."
"Codebeamer's UI is somewhat boring, while Jira's is more exciting and user-friendly."
"The primary challenge is adapting the standard product to our workflows and specific needs."
"The product's UI is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"Codebeamer is not completely compatible with our internal network setup."
"It would be helpful if Codebeamer's overall processing and integration with software like Jira could be improved."
"One improvement could be to reduce the system or server requirements. For a client with a medium configuration server, Codebeamer did not work initially until the system was upgraded."
"The reporting functionality needs to be improved."
"The GUI is a little bit outdated."
"Of course it would be related to customer experience. The solution is not user friendly at all. It needs an expert to use it, although the reporting feature was okay."
"The stability of this solution can be improved."
"The user interface requires significant improvement as it is overly complex."
"The directory designer manager is uncivil. The design manager is clearly really unstable."
"Some improvements to the user interface (UI) would be helpful, such as exposing more services to make it easier to customize to the needs of each customer."
"When we started to use the product it was a little bit of a mess because we were not used to using it and implemented it poorly in some ways that would have been easy to avoid."
