Offers ease to users in the area of authentication management
Speaking about Clerk.com and how it handles data security and user privacy, I would say that the security features are managed by another team in my company, and they are the ones who know how it works. I am confident that so far, I haven't got any complaints of any data leaks. I don't really know the specifics of how the security is implemented. Even if I consider the documents I got with the product, I would say that I really don't know how it works. If one is managing the integration process associated with the product for the first time, then one may face some challenges. If you have done it a couple of times, then it is going to be the same thing for you, meaning that you will be basically doing the same thing in multiple apps. Only the first time I had to face some challenges, going to which I had to go through some tutorials and YouTube videos to be able to figure out the product I would want to tell others to either go big or go home. I recommend the product to other people. I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

Identity has become our central gatekeeper and has provided secure single sign-on for all users
Microsoft Entra ID can improve by focusing more on new passwordless methods and becoming a primary adopter. One feature we would like to see is the ability to have security questions for password resets. I know the current capability is phasing out, so we do not have an alternative method yet. Customers who already use security questions require a smoother transition for that capability to be available. My experience with the deployment has had some challenges, particularly around the Microsoft MFA campaigns. The hardest part is moving users from a different MFA provider to the Microsoft MFA provider, as it ultimately depends on user activity. In large enterprises with numerous users across various geographies, this transition takes time. If there are ways to exert more control around that process, it would improve the situation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I have not faced any stability issues with the product."
"What I like most about Azure Active Directory is its SSO (single sign-on) feature, as we have a community of users with different IDs and passwords, and this feature helps integrate all these."
"The product is easy to install and quick to deploy."
"We like the ease of app registrations and single sign-on with Entra ID. It offers an easy way to add multi-factor authentication to nearly any application and system."
"The most valuable feature of Entra ID is having a cloud-based identity, similar to Google's single sign-on."
"I find the conditional access policies to be the most valuable. They provide a lot of granularity in determining where the users can log in from, how they log in, and what they have access to."
"The advantage of Azure Active Directory is that it's a cloud environment, so just about anybody can get to it."
"Microsoft Entra ID's integration capabilities have been the foundation for our Zero Trust model because my team only sets up integration and Azure App Registrations based on a request and we review them."
"It has improved our security posture a lot, with features like conditional access, single sign-on, and multi-factor authentication making access easier for users while significantly strengthening protection of our applications and data."

Cons

"I am not sure if there could be the use of other languages, like Python, Django, and Slack."
"Rule management and permissions need improvements. I have had discussions with product managers about these challenges and sent emails regarding them. Additionally, improvements are needed in the Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) side of things."
"The price has room for improvement."
"I would like it if Intune could manage MacOS or iOS directly. Right now, we have to use a third-party solution."
"Our users sometimes experience issues from having multiple Microsoft accounts, which can cause some confusion and hassle."
"Licenses are very expensive."
"When implementing for one client, where they had ADFS turned on, we could not ID enough ADFS and when there was no internet connection. This was a Catch-22 for us, and very frustrating."
"The integration between the Azure active directory and the traditional active directory could be improved upon."
"One thing that bothers me about Azure AD is that I can't specify login hours."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If you are working on a personal project, there is a free tier version for up to a few thousand users."
"Be sure: You know your userbase, e.g., how many users you have. You choose the right license and model that suit your business requirements."
"We are currently on the education plan, so the price is slightly better than the development plan."
"We are a non-profit organization, so we get good prices from Microsoft for their products. It is working well, but it could be cheaper. For the type of organization we are, it would be good if they could give a little bit more and be more generous like Google, which has completely free services. Microsoft has free versions or web services called Office 365 E1, which is free for use, but we want to have it with more qualified clients."
"The process for buying licenses from Microsoft is somewhat messy and really hard to do. We have to talk to someone because it's hard to find out how many licenses we need. If I'm applying for 2,000 users, how many Windows licenses do we need? They could also charge less for support."
"The solution costs us 60,000 Rupees annually, just over $700, and there are no additional costs."
"I think we're on the E3 — I think it was about 35 dollars per user."
"Azure AD's pricing is comprehensive and affordable. The prices are easy to understand, and the licenses include a variety of security monitoring and additional features."
"The solution has three types of tiers: E1 has very basic features. You get limited stuff in E2 and cannot have Office 360 associated with it. E3 is on the costly side and has all the features."
