Comprehensive support and ease of implementation enhance operational efficiency
With Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, I have centralized orchestration and management. The transport independence of MPLS or connectivity and internet connectivity is another excellent feature. End-to-end segmentation is also provided. I use the application-aware routing feature. Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN supports dynamic police-based routing decisions based on application type or different performance metrics such as jitter or latency. The benefit of that feature is that it improves user experience. The principal benefit of application-aware routing is that critical applications are prioritized or routed over the best performing paths to reduce outages and service degradation. There is full visibility of applications. Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN has integrated security features which include base firewall, URL filtering, IPS, and secure segmentation, and it supports integration with other Cisco products such as Umbrella or Snort. This feature is beneficial for the client because the information is secure. It is important that Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN supports cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments for my organization because it allows for scalability and faster deployment in the cloud. It reduces operational needs because I don't need to manage physical controller hardware, and updates and maintenance can be centralized and automated. The zero-touch provisioning feature is very important for the speed of deploying new branch locations. I can deliver the device to the branch, and it is important because simplified deployment makes the implementation start more easily since devices are auto-configured and authenticate without manual intervention.

"Cisco SD-WAN is a highly stable solution."
"This solution comes with comprehensive technical support."
"It is very simple and easy to manage, compared to other methods."
"Cisco SD-WAN's best features are the development of network links, application control, and bandwidth monitoring."
"The best feature of this technology that is available to us is the ability to do better load-balancing."
"One of the most valuable features is that they have multiple SD-WAN options: you have Meraki for simple management solutions, you have Viptela, and you have the option of having any type of WAN interfaces. Presently, you can also have a single combined solution for both WAN as well as for voice, so you can have a voice bundle as well. These are major unique points of this solution."
"The most valuable feature of ExtremeAnalytics is wireless intrusion prevention."
"The application response latency is valuable and suitable for troubleshooting."
"The solution's scalability is a ten out of ten."

Cons

"It is the best solution that I ever had, but there might be something better than this in the future."
"Better pricing and greater security would be nice to see."
"The solution could be more secure. Security is always a priority for us."
"The licensing model needs to be improved."
"The user interface needs improvement. Users should be able to find various features faster without much tweaking."
"An area for improvement lies in enhancing the integration with the security functions of the SD-WAN."
"I would like to see a better, web-based interface to make changes to the configuration or to view statistics."
"The initial setup could be a bit less complex."
"ExtremeAnalytics could improve application control. The URL filtering is not working properly. We have had issues with the reports and heat maps not working as expected. We have been receiving download errors when attempting to retrieve the heat maps and reports."
"There are issues with cloud distribution of the servers, and it could be faster."
"The solution's stability needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cloud subscription management must be paid for, although this does not incur a perpetual fee."
"80 percent reduction in WAN costs. There are no MPLS or P2P circuits left in the organization."
"The price of the solution is the only negative factor, it is much more expensive compared with the Cisco Meraki SD-WAN solution."
"On a scale of one to five, I would rate Cisco's pricing as a three."
"The price is high."
"The license model is too complex with too many flavors and options. You might not be able to see it from an end user's point of view, but from a telco point of view, their license model is too complex. They should have a flexible license model. If you want to have good pricing, you need to buy it for a two-year, four-year, or five-year license immediately. Some other vendors have much more flexible license models."
"The pricing for Cisco SD-WAN is more expensive than other brands or solutions, such as Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks, so it's one out of ten."
"The solution is quite expensive so it is important to enhance its cost efficiency."
"The pricing is an eight out of ten."
"The price of the solution is approximately $100 to $120 and is paid annually."
