A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Has strengthened perimeter security through AI-driven protection and unified management
I have noticed some limitations with Check Point Quantum Force. There is a limitation in integrating with existing infrastructure, such as orchestration and logging, specifically with VPNs. VPNs are hard and sophisticated to deploy on this firewall. However, it is improving currently. Some performance aspects need higher resources. If you do not give it higher resources, it will slow down your network. It is a trade-off - if you have higher resources, you will have good performance. The complexity of configuring a VPN needs to be improved because we need to go back and forth to configure VPNs. It has to be simpler to understand.

A simple firewall solution that can detect intrusions but updated firewalls doesn't have the features of older ones
One issue we've encountered with Huawei NGFW is that after using a firewall for two or three years, we need to replace it. The new firewalls often have more features and better memory or throughput. However, sometimes, they lack some features that the old ones had. Huawei NGFW sells new products quickly without fully developing them. So, when the new firewalls come out, they may not have all the features the old ones had. We can't tell our customers this. The problem is that the end-of-life for the old products is often very near, or it's already here, and we don't have the fully-featured new product to replace it.

Pros

"The technical support is great."
"The user interface is intuitive. Anyone can configure the firewall with little knowledge of the product. The back-end is robust with good security."
"I'm looking forward to FortiGate's dashboard features, insights, application oversight, and monitoring, which could help us significantly."
"I like how we can achieve total integration."
"The solution is extremely reliable."
"The most valuable features are simplicity, management, and that it's constantly evolving."
"The firewall and VPN features are the most valuable in protecting our customers' networks."
"Fortinet FortiGate is a very light product. It's easy to understand."
"Check Point Quantum Force has positively impacted my organization because we did not have any other network devices earlier, and after purchasing Check Point Quantum Spark, the issues have been reduced for users, and currently, everything is operating smoothly."
"The outcomes from Check Point Quantum Force firewall gave us the ability to be fit and secure from the cyber world."
"Since I started using Check Point Quantum Force, everything works efficiently, and I have seen a decrease in security incidents."
"We have found the initial setup to be straightforward."
"One of the best things about Huawei NGFW is its ability to integrate Azure solutions. Every year, we can add new features to the firewall. The key advantage is the integration across the entire network, so it doesn't work in isolation. For example, we can manage everything with features like the secret manager or analytic IDs. The solution is straightforward. It can also detect intrusions."
"Huawei support is excellent. I rate it 10 out of 10."
"The user interface is very, very good."
"I had no difficulty using the Huawei NGFW."
"The stability is fine. I would rate the stability a nine out of ten."
"The solution's initial setup process is easy."
"The security is good. It's as effective as anything else on the market."

Cons

"I want some additional features. For example, I want something to ensure that when we are using Google email or Microsoft email, or Google Workspace, emails can only be accessed on designated machines given to our employees. I would like them to access data from designated machines, not from any machine. It should work for designated mobiles and laptops. I don't know if Fortinet provides something like that out of the box."
"They should improve the interface to make it more user-friendly."
"Its performance can be better. We have had performance issues in the past, but we sometimes tend to find that it is more related to what we do in our network than anything else. It is quite a good product, and there isn't much to improve."
"Compared to some other products, the DLP is not at par for the moment."
"The main aspect of FortiGate that could be improved is load balancing. Our management team does not want to buy another appliance for only load balancing."
"We'd like more management across other integrations."
"There were quite a few problems with the stability of the system."
"With FortiGate, the main complaint that I have heard is about the technical support."
"I chose nine out of ten because the support is not provided properly; that is the reason I have some issues with support."
"The complexity of configuring a VPN needs to be improved because we need to go back and forth to configure VPNs."
"I chose nine out of ten because the support is not provided properly; that is the reason I have some issues with support."
"The WAF capability in the Huawei Firewall is missing."
"The solution is scalable but it is difficult because you need to purchase new systems, it is not just one click."
"There needs to be more security equipment for the solution."
"The IPS feature must be improved."
"The user interface could be more user-friendly."
"One issue we've encountered with Huawei NGFW is that after using a firewall for two or three years, we need to replace it. The new firewalls often have more features and better memory or throughput. However, sometimes, they lack some features that the old ones had."
"The solution could be cheaper."
"Huawei NGFW should have better reporting and a dashboard for the visibility of traffic."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price, in comparison to other products is very cheap."
"It is too expensive for us. My organization is very small, and we have a total of ten users. We have three internal users and seven external users. The FortiGate 100D series is too expensive for renewing the licenses."
"The cost of Fortinet FortiGate is competitive and not expensive compared to other enterprise- grade solutions. On average, the license cost per year is around seventy percent of the firewall's purchase price."
"The solution requires a license annually, it is not a user license, you can have as many users as your want. I must renew the license regularly per device."
"Its pricing is fine. It is on a yearly basis. Other than the licensing fee, there is no extra fee."
"It is not the cheapest one, but its price is very competitive."
"You need to pay a license for this solution. Our licensing is now done in our subsidiary."
"Fortigate's pricing is competitive."

"The pricing is cheap."
"The solution isn't cheap. It's market price."
"The solution is inexpensive."
"The price of the license of this solution is high."
"I believe that we are entitled to a one-year extension on our licensing."
"When you compare the price with other products, it's quite cost-effective. But the problem is always after, let's say, two years or three years later because they are not able to provide updates or patches very quickly."
"Licensing fees are billed on an annual basis."
"Huawei is priced lower than most competitors."
