A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Has strengthened perimeter security through AI-driven protection and unified management
I have noticed some limitations with Check Point Quantum Force. There is a limitation in integrating with existing infrastructure, such as orchestration and logging, specifically with VPNs. VPNs are hard and sophisticated to deploy on this firewall. However, it is improving currently. Some performance aspects need higher resources. If you do not give it higher resources, it will slow down your network. It is a trade-off - if you have higher resources, you will have good performance. The complexity of configuring a VPN needs to be improved because we need to go back and forth to configure VPNs. It has to be simpler to understand.

User-friendly, easy to set up, and works very well for SMB customers
We are using VM01 most of the time, as we have more customers, although sometimes we can use VM02. In the EMEA region, we mainly have customers related to Fortinet FortiGate-VM. My favorite capabilities are VM01 and VM02. We use it in a hybrid cloud solution, meaning the customer on-premise is using another technology or the same. It's better for us if they are using Fortinet, and we don't face issues with this solution. For what we need to do, which is setting up a VPN connection between both sides and using it for SSL VPN connections for remote users, it works effectively and we haven't encountered vulnerabilities. It's user-friendly and easy to set up. It's designed with the customer in mind. As someone who is precise, I understand the importance of selling the solution effectively while ensuring it meets the customer's needs. This means that my focus is on gathering customer feedback. It's not just about what I see; it's about understanding the customer's perspective. Customers often want to know how they can use the solution and how to set it up, which is the main concern I address. Fortinet Security Fabric's Real-time Threat Response capabilities are satisfactory; it's a good solution.

Pros

"Provides good firewall security and has great VPN features."
"The multi-threat protection feature helps us secure our organization."
"I like the solution's stability."
"The product's most valuable features are SD-WAN and the integration of WiFi and switches."
"I love the interface."
"Fortinet FortiGate serves as the first line of defense, it is robust and easy to configure, and I haven't seen any breaches happening when configured properly based on best practices."
"I find Fortinet FortiGate to be quite stable, as I have never heard of any issues where they broke or malfunctioned; they are always working."
"The product has the most valuable configuration, offloading, and security features."
"The outcomes from Check Point Quantum Force firewall gave us the ability to be fit and secure from the cyber world."
"One notable feature is the SD-WAN, which is a strong component of the FortiGate-VM. The fabric feature is also good, but not all customers use FortiGate's networking components, such as the switches."
"We feel that Fortinet FortiGate is a very proven product that has undergone many changes in the market and has added many products."
"The IPS module is my favorite because of the security advantage reached with a few clicks and its automatic updates."
"The solution is very secure, and its technical support is on point."
"I have worked on some of the largest and smallest solutions that Fortinet sells and they all scale really well."
"What I appreciate the most about Fortinet FortiGate-VM is that it is not much different than hardware appliances."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is easy to operate."
"Fortinet is user-friendly."

Cons

"FortiGate may include AI capabilities and integrate external threat intelligence. However, version management and backup/restore operations could be improved."
"They should offer special pricing to premium partners and customers."
"Fortinet FortiGate is not a scalable solution, as they give you a number and each box comes with concurrent connections; if you need to expand, you have to change the box."
"The customization is a little bit difficult."
"Their support's response time can be better. In the past six months, they took quite a long time to respond to the support tickets."
"In terms of what could be improved, the SD-WAN is quite difficult, because if you install the new box, 15 is okay, but if you change from an old configuration, if there is already configuration and a policy when you change to SD-WAN, you must change the whole policy that you see in the interface."
"The configuration part was challenging, especially converting configurations from another OEM to FortiGate."
"This product could be improved with Active directory integration and better handling in IPsec and GRE Tunnels."
"The complexity of configuring a VPN needs to be improved because we need to go back and forth to configure VPNs."
"In the next release, we would like to see full integration with VMware NSX virtualized networks."
"VM should be more optimized."
"In the Philippine market, where cybersecurity is still growing but not yet fully mature, we have many clients who have Fortinet FortiGate-VM or hardware. However, we cannot really position the Fabric if the licenses, renewal parts, or other components have monetary requirements that hinder full utilization."
"The tool is expensive."
"The price is problematic."
"They could simplify the troubleshooting process."
"We are experiencing a failed login issue. There should also be improvements in functionalities we store to enhance our services."
"The technical support is not very responsive and is an area that needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Fortinet FortiGate IPS is cheaper than other solutions like Cisco or Check Point."
"The price of Fortinet FortiGate when compared to other solutions is high. However, my knowledge of the price is from third parties and I am not sure how accurate it is. I typically work in the technical area of my organization."
"If you purchase a one-year subscription with the hardware and then you want to renew for the second year, it is very costly."
"Fortinet bundles FortiGate with other products and because of this, the price is a little expensive to some SMB enterprises."
"The product is expensive compared to one of its competitors."
"The price is relatively expensive compared to other solutions which are providing similar features."
"It has a competitive price."
"It's not the cheapest, but it's value for money. Given everything we've got out of it: the DMZ port, the VPN, and the high availability, it's a pretty reasonable price."

"This solution is very expensive."
