Enables customers to manage security effortlessly with intuitive features and easy integration
In terms of improvements for Fortinet FortiGate, they could offer evaluation licenses, as compared to Meraki, which provides a 90-day evaluation. In Fortinet FortiGate, they do not provide standard evaluation licenses; instead, we need to request them from the OEM through the account manager for POCs. If we want to conduct a demo, we need to work with real hardware. In comparison to Cisco, we have DCloud, which helps with providing demos to customers, but in Meraki, I need to reach out to them, book a lab, and they need to provide all the hardware. I need remote access and L3 engineers to program it; only then can I offer a real-time demo to the customer.

Good intrusion prevention, firewall, and VPN capabilities
Check Point Power-1 (EOL) has reached the end of its useful life, yet at the time, they could to make some changes such as: * Integration in the cloud. It is the new trend, however, Check Point has already contemplated this and already has its own cloud device. * Automation. As the automatic creation and application of policies, this would have been very beneficial. * Multi-factor authentication would have been a plus in security at the time. They must also make some improvements in their support departments since they do not comply with the SLAs that they provide.

Automated breach prevention has protected critical workloads and keeps external attacks blocked
I am familiar with SonicWall TZ. I have done a POC of TZ but I have not worked extensively with it. I have worked with the 2600 firewall and then the 3600. These are the models which we have worked with.SonicWall NSa was an on-premises solution. The two firewalls which were in production, in the data center and on the LAN side, were both on-premises solutions. We had a pre-decided budget under which we would purchase the firewall. All parameters including security, high availability, and budget concerns were covered with SonicWall NSa being implemented at that time. SonicWall NSa is a user-friendly product that is easy to configure, and it is easy for network personnel and firewall administrators to work with. Even the L1 team captured and learned this firewall effectively, helping us resolve all parameters related to high availability firewalls within budget-friendly costs. I rate this review a nine out of ten.

Pros

"The main benefit I have seen from using Fortinet FortiGate is the protection it offers because I can see threats that come through in real-time, and if they are blocked, I can see that."
"There is really nothing to complain about with this product; it's a very good product to use, and it has just started to get the top ratings for firewalls."
"Fortinet's scalability and stability are fine because I have three units across India, and none have gone down so far."
"The web filtering feature and the intrusion protection system are the most valuable. It is a resilient appliance. I never had an issue with it in terms of any security breaches."
"The scalability is easy with switches and access points that are basically plug-and-play for the most part."
"There has been no attack on our servers after we configured the FortiGate IPS."
"The application control features, such as Facebook blocking and Spotify blocking, are the most valuable."
"The price-to-performance ratio for using Fortinet FortiGate is always better compared to any other competitor, so they are rated better than the likes of Check Point or Palo Alto."
"The VPN allows users to connect remotely and securely."
"In my opinion it is right product at enterprise level network to protect the user and server from external and internal threats and attacks"
"SonicWall fulfills our requirements and it does it well."
"Feature wise, the content filtering is good."
"Support is usually good when it comes to helping out with issues."
"Easy to scale solution that provides advanced threat protection. Their technical support is very good, very knowledgeable, and easy to reach."
"Setup is easy, and anyone with basic firewall experience can do it."
"The most valuable features are the VPN, SSL VPN, and IPSec VPN."
"We use SonicWall as the primary firewall for the internet connectivity of a multi-site educational organization."
"User friendly and intuitive."

Cons

"The visibility of the network can be better. The GUI can be improved for better visibility of the network flow. Other solutions have better GUI in terms of network visibility."
"Fortinet can add some Machine Learning and AI to improve its accuracy and give it an edge on IPS detection and protection."
"Technical support is a little slow and needs to be improved."
"Fortinet FortiGate can be integrated with different platforms. They have integrations in place, but I can't say they're 100%."
"I prefer Palo Alto over Fortinet FortiGate. Its IPS engine is not better than the Palo Alto version. The monitoring tool needs improvement, and the syslog configuration needs enhancement."
"The renewal price and the availability could be improved."
"Its performance can be better. We have had performance issues in the past, but we sometimes tend to find that it is more related to what we do in our network than anything else. It is quite a good product, and there isn't much to improve."
"Fortinet FortiGate can improve the integration with Active Directory. Additionally, I would like to have a Cloud Controller, such as they do in the Cisco Meraki solution."
"Multi-factor authentication would have been a plus in security at the time."
"I have to pay Check Point for every new service I integrate in the firewall and it also has license related issue which needs to renew every years."
"SonicWall NSa needs to make their product more user-friendly."
"The tool needs to improve its reporting features."
"I am not sure if SonicWall has finally addressed this issue but a major area for improvement would be being able to export the settings file in a non-binary readable and editable format."
"There are a few areas that need improvement including the VPN, user management, and reporting."
"The logging, reporting, and storage capacity size could improve in a future release."
"Avoid this company. They have no idea what they are doing, except a slick marketing campaign."
"Vendor support needs improvement. The frequency of time and support should be increased."
"I would like to have a built-in vulnerability scanner in the firewall. It would be great to have such functionality."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price range is quite acceptable and normal."
"The pricing of the solution is very competitive."
"The price of Fortinet FortiGate is the lowest in the market."
"The pricing is based on a licensing model for each IPS in your environment."
"As far as I'm aware, in our case, it's just a yearly pricing arrangement with no additional licensing costs."
"Its pricing is good. The advantages of Fortinet FortiGate over its competitors include good pricing and meeting our requirements at a lower cost."
"The price of Fortinet FortiGate is affordable. Most of our customers are on a three-year license to use the solution. All the features and support are included in the price."
"The main reason we chose Fortinet FortiGate was that the price was better than the competition."
Information not available
"Additional resources are too expensive."
"SonicWall is a one-time purchase and there is no renewal license."
"The price is high. I would rate it four to five out of ten."
"Licensed features provide application control, content filtering, antivirus, and anti-malware all in a single appliance."
"The return on investment is very good."
"The solution is cheaper than others."
"SonicWall NSa has two types of license. The advanced license is a bit expensive when compared to the comprehensive license, but when you compare the advanced license to the licensing cost of other brands or competitors, it is expensive."
"While I don't know the exact amount off the top of my head, I would estimate the licensing package was about $15,000 to $20,000 a year."
