Process mining has delivered major savings and now needs better automation and task mining
Collaboration with ERPs should be improved. Compared to SAP Signavio, Celonis is less competitive for BPMN modeling. Deployment flexibility needs enhancement, as on-premises support is not as strong as SaaS support. The most important area for improvement is the automation part. End-to-end automation capabilities are desired. Currently, workflows are being used, but actions should be able to go via email, task, APIs, and ultimately write back to the source. Adding RPA capability that can interact with required systems and write back to the source would greatly enhance Celonis. Task mining capabilities also require improvement. UiPath Process Mining and Microsoft Process Mining have better task mining capabilities compared to Celonis. Usability and support from Celonis need improvement. They should help clients find more value in the product. Cost is another significant concern, as Celonis is very expensive compared to other process mining tools. The license cost should be reduced. Celonis should establish partnerships with clients to find more use cases and maximize the value gained from Celonis.

Good GUI, easy to learn, and simple to install
The architecture is complex. I do understand that. However, the GUI is very user-friendly. Sometimes all these things are a little difficult to understand for a person who is not experienced in Couchbase. There is a constant requirement to upgrade the versions. We need to constantly keep on upgrading the latest version for the newest one. Currently, we are dealing with an issue where some of the servers are on the 6.5 version, and a few have moved to 7.5. So we are in a mixed mode right now. We are having a high IO issue on our servers, which we are already dealing with. We have these cases with Couchbase, with Red Hat, et cetera. We feel like this constant need to upgrade is something that is very mundane yet a very difficult task. If you have three clusters, which have around thirty nodes, the data is quite sensitive. Whenever there is Couchbase upgrade that is going on, we see that our SR is dropped. The purchase rate and success rate drop. This affects our business and the clients. Rebalancing could be improved. I find it to be a very slow process when it comes to rebalancing the clusters. If you talk about other architectures like Oracle, they are pretty fast. Couchbase is a little slower. Rebalancing, taking the node out, doing the upgrade, putting it back, rebalancing it, is a very difficult and cumbersome. For Oracle, we have been running on version 19.5 for the past five years. There were absolutely no issues. Yet for Couchbase, every six months, we have to go do the upgrade.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"find Action Engine for notifying the user, and also Studio Spark, and knowledge models; all these features are useful."
"The most valuable features are process mining, task mining, business analytics, and machine learning."
"Celonis has positively impacted my organization as it holds a Titanium partnership with Celonis."
"Celonis is intuitive, powerful, and user-friendly."
"I like that the product allows users to connect to different source systems like SAP, ServiceNow, and Salesforce."
"We like the process mining capabilities."
"The analyst role within this solution is very good; it provides a transaction dashboard, and KPI module, that are completely customizable."
"The most valuable features of Celonis are its graphical interpretation and pre-built connectors with industry platforms like SAP or Oracle."
"The way the nodes are managed is interesting."
"The initial setup was straightforward."

Cons

"I have noticed Celonis and Azure, as Infrastructure-as-a-service do not communicate well with each other. Since Celonis has recently acquired PAF they would try to synergize their operations with Microsoft tools. In the next couple of years, they should be more connected to the Microsoft ecosystems. In the long term, they should integrate more with SAP which is a partner of Microsoft. This would result in cost efficiencies."
"I have experienced lags in response times from customer service. We are not always receiving responses on time."
"The solution must be more user-friendly."
"It would help if they had more integrations and automation features."
"Celonis could improve by expanding its use beyond finance areas into infrastructure domains, such as networks and server utilization."
"The support costs are very high."
"They are killing the customers with high licensing prices. The tool’s pricing could be cheaper. Small enterprises wouldn’t be able to afford the tool."
"Celonis does not provide a detailed picture of user activities within processes because it relies on event logs from ERP systems."
"The product could be improved by including a log section for tracking activities, enhancing database integration, and providing more transparency regarding pricing and monitoring activities."
"Rebalancing could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Though Celonis is a bit pricey, it is worth it."
"Once we try to scale it up, the product becomes expensive."
"Celonis is cost-effective."
"The price could be better. If you ask a customer, they will always say it's highly-priced. In my personal opinion, the cost can be at the lower end. I think it's suitable for large organizations at this point in time."
"The solution requires an annual license. There is room for improvement because it is priced for organizations and not for individuals. For an individual, it would be too expensive for them to use it."
"Celonis is the most expensive solution in the market"
"It is only affordable for large or public companies."
"It is an expensive solution."
