Valuable monitoring features enhance ecommerce experience while improvement needed in region-specific insights
As part of the improvement, there are certain categories, like for the China market, where we face issues. We are currently using an external tool, Splunk, for reporting. If we could receive similar data for the China market as we do for North America and Asia Pacific, this would be helpful.

An agent-based solution that monitors and manages various networks but lacks support
Once you've established the client in the RMM tool, you create the site. Setting up the site can be a bit onerous because of the recent changes, which we need to learn. However, once it's set up, deploying the agent is extremely simple and straightforward. It's as easy as using a URL that people can visit, which will automatically determine the environment and download the necessary components. The initial setup can be somewhat challenging. If it's a new site, it'll probably take me about an hour to set it up. It's a matter of getting familiar with the process. As far as deploying the agents to the individual endpoints is concerned, that's literally minutes. Customers can do that themselves. A few of us can do set up the initial site. Anyone can handle the agents deployment. In our case, it's quite doable even by sending the URL to the customer.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Catchpoint's customer service and support are valuable."
"Catchpoint provides a great amount of information."
"During business hours, it has worked absolutely fine without any issues."
"We really need the API monitoring, as well as client side session monitoring, the global synthetic monitoring, to track the availability of the systems from the customer side."
"The best feature in Catchpoint is the alert or the notification my company gets frequently, in particular, every five minutes. It's the notification you get whenever a respective market has an issue. There's also a dashboard in Catchpoint that shows the markets you support, so all the markets will be highlighted graphically in the dashboard whenever there's downtime that could affect you. If there's no issue for a specific market, it will be in green, so in this way, anybody would be able to understand which market has issues and which market has no issues through Catchpoint. The tool is very useful for monitoring activities."
"Catchpoint helped us establish that something is in a provider network, so we could tell our customers to check their internet provider because the traffic is not getting to us. You need to be gentle when you tell them that, but the fact that we could do it was crucial."
"Catchpoint is very flexible and also provides logs for troubleshooting purposes. It helps us fix issues within the SLAs signed with the end users. The tool is easy to learn."
"The product's most valuable feature is the ability to identify and troubleshoot network issues."
"The best features of ConnectWise RMM are the automation tools that they've included, which are quite good, enabling us to mass manage systems, schedule scripts, etc."
"The user interface is the first valuable feature. The integration is the second valuable feature. The integration that you are doing with the products needs to be very certain. There shouldn't be any glitches. There are different software out there that will give you an option called scripting and ask you to do a hundred different things to set up a script for a particular customer. With Continuum, everything is done a single way. You just select the clients, script, and machine, and then you just go and deploy. The best part of Continuum is that it is not just a software company. It is a pure services company. It is an RMM software; it isn't used as a PSA. The software is just a part of the service offering. This is the difference between all other service providers out there and Continuum. Continuum is basically providing services. Continuum doesn't sell the software."
"The most valuable feature is the patching solution."
"The most valuable features are RMM and patch management. However, the main reason we have been using this solution is that they are the only provider of RMM that has an outsourced NOC and help desk. This has been very useful."
"It enables us to respond to issues quickly and efficiently."

Cons

"We would like the script creation feature of this solution to be improved, as it currently requires a complicated manual process to update the scripts."
"There are essentially a lot of quotas. Nobody wants to sit and manually create monitors for someone who uses synthetic monitoring."
"There's still too much manual involvement in getting customized test configurations out there. It's good, but it still takes a lot of effort. In other words, it's when you need to configure it to collect a specific variable and that kind of thing."
"The product could include global monitoring and predictive analytics to identify widespread issues and cyber threats."
"Catchpoint can be improved by focusing solely on network monitoring."
"It would be great if Catchpoint could incorporate its alerting system instead of relying on separate tools like ServiceNow."
"A large selection of nodes are available but it is a challenge to test reliably in China and the Middle East."
"A room for improvement in Catchpoint is that it lacks an automated page updating feature. My company receives all the alerts and notifications it needs, but the page doesn't update automatically. You need to manually refresh the page, so every five minutes you need to refresh it to see the most updated information. If there's an automated page refresh feature, that would help my company. It's a feature that Grafana has. The page auto-refreshes in Grafana, so you don't have to manually refresh the page. If that feature is implemented in Catchpoint, it'll be useful for the users. Another area for improvement in the tool is you have to do a manual task, for example, when you have a notification for a market, you get a zip code that the user could have entered, but if the zip code is incorrect, you have to manually go into Catchpoint and update that parameter, so that manual step is another area in the tool that needs improvement."
"The initial setup with ConnectWise RMM is painful, to be completely honest. The pain points during the initial setup with ConnectWise RMM include the migration from Automate to RMM being very time-consuming and the process not being as straightforward as indicated."
"The solution could improve by offering better overall management and dashboards."
"It's a legacy tool with many outdated approaches. It is managed offshore which affects everyone because it seems the developers don't fully understand our needs."
"They can include support for vaulting, where you can actually document the entire infrastructure, including servers, desktops, networks, passwords, maps, diagrams, and customer information. Continuum has integrated everything, and you have to use a PSA. Continuum has a ticketing system and an RMM. They could integrate the functionality for IT documentation. An MSP would want everything into one tool."
"If a computer hasn't been turned on for a long time and the client software is installed, it may not reconnect to the dashboard once it's powered up."
"I would like to see the incorporation of the dashboards for other products that they work with into the main dashboard."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price and licensing are very, very high. They have to come down on the pricing to match with the industry standard."
"The solution's pricing varies based on services and licensing models."
"The pricing is based on consumption and works on a point scale. For example, let's say I want to look at www.google.com, and I'm going to test it to see if it's there. It will bring back all this data that tells me how long it took to connect and how long it took to get the first byte. It will list all the resources on the page, showing that they all work and there are no broken links. It brings that data back. That test has an assigned point value depending on what you decide to extract from that test. If all I do is check to see whether it's available, it might be one point. I don't know the exact point values off-hand. This is just an example."
"In terms of licensing fees, I believe they were slightly higher."
"The solution's pricing is comparable to the last tool we were using."
"The licensing works such that the more you add, the more it costs, but for the most part, the price starts at about $5 USD per client."
"It has a pay-as-you-go model. They don't have any minimum, maximum, or such sorts of commitments with any of their partners or customers. I don't believe they have any restrictions about using a specific number of agents. You don't have to use 100 agents or 200 agents to work with this. They have a lock-in period of three months, during which you cannot switch a service plan, which is fine."
"Continuum Command price is more expensive than competitors, it is three times the price of the next lowest and costs approximately $25 an endpoint. However, when you take that into account you receive the help desk and outsource NOC included it has a lot more value because competitors do not provide the outsourced NOC and help desk."
