Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Intelligent solution with a proactive monitoring feature and consolidated dashboard that's stable and easy to scale.""I like the event management part.""The most valuable features are the rich reports, high performance, and the look and feel of the WebEx webpage are very good.""I like the deep-dive detail and end-user metrics data. The synthetic monitor is the best one. The best point of the new one is that there's no need for configuration. You can inject the Java script and start to change major developments in the application. This is a good approach, and we received all the data using this.""It is a stable solution.""I like everything about this tool. I recommend this solution to anyone looking for a standalone solution with high availability meaning that can be used depending on the customers requirements.""The solution has a very good business event manager tool.""The event management part of TrueSight Operations Management, in my experience, is probably the best in the market. You have endless flexibility. You can build your own rules, you have the MRL language, and you can implement any kind of logic on the alerts. It may be correlation, abstraction, or executing something as a result of the alerts. You have almost the whole range of options available for event management using the available customization."

"It's a useful feature to be able to see the top SQL, the number of executions, the CPU, and the resources that it's using.""The 13cR2 updates to the OEM family, strongly integrate Cloud (off-site, hybrid and on-premise) services providing a seamless way to see all of your resources regardless of where they are deployed.""SQL Tuning Advisor, ADDM, Top Activity, ASM Space Manager, Incident Notifications""The tried and tested services that Oracle provides is second to none.""We use it extensively for performance tuning testing, monitoring, and configuration.""There are a number of different user interfaces you can choose from.""I like that it's stable.""The most valuable features are security and speed."

Cons
"I would like them to improve the deep-dive details, tracing, and data agents in this product. We have EUEM, an end-user experience monitoring appliance. This one's quicker than the current one, and reporting side and filtration side are very bad. There are many details we look at and explain what we receive information in the current one, but we cannot have historical data like we do with EUEM. We cannot have a powerful point to look for specific traffic from a specific application and a specific browser. We don't have it in the new one. The current BMC also needs to add the thing that control versions.""The solution is overly complex.""It would be better if the initial setup and deployment were more straightforward.""This solution is lacking in application monitoring features. Technical support for this solution also needs improvement, particularly in product knowledge and response time.""It's too complex, too many servers are required, there are too many different components in the solution, and a lot of agents are required.""The graphs are extremely limited. We don't have a lot of dashboard options. To make reports and dashboards more useful, we usually need to integrate some dashboard solutions.""There are some small limitations with this tool in terms of reporting dashboards that fit all of the requirements of the individual customer.""The UI for the end users could be improved and more flexible than it is now."

More BMC TrueSight Operations Management Cons →

"The interface could be more friendly for basic users.""I would like to see better pricing.""We would like to have a single dashboard for monitoring and controlling all of our products.""The user interface is not very interactive. It needs improvement.""There's a lot of documentation to go through as a new user.""The product is pretty comprehensive, but quite resource hungry. This might be due to the majority of the application seemingly being written in Java.""The solution is considered expensive.""The solution has a very large resource system. It's too big. There are too many items."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Consider scalability very carefully: how much you want to monitor and what components are very important. Then, depending on these two things, filter out unwanted metrics or attributes. If you do a good job at filtering the data, then your licensing costs will be manageable."
  • "The price of BMC TrueSight Operations Management is very high. If there was more flexibility with the sizing of the licensing it would be helpful, especially during the pandemic. We have wanted to expend but the licensing cost is too high."
  • "BMC TrueSight Operations Management is not on the cheaper side, but its pricing is on a case by case basis. Its licensing model is simple and based on the number of devices."
  • "Annual licensing amount depends on the customers requirements. Support is an additional fee and there are options for three and five year support."
  • "They have changed the licensing fees."
  • More BMC TrueSight Operations Management Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We are satisfied with the pricing."
  • "There is only the standard licensing fee. There are no other costs."
  • "Evaluate your requirements carefully. Elaborate DR and HA setup of OEM can become expensive."
  • "Be careful to only enable the packs for which you have a license as this is an issue we see time and again."
  • "The solution is inexpensive to purchase."
  • "It's expensive."
  • "The licensing is the responsibility of our customers."
  • "There are a few bugs with the software which require opening SRs with Oracle Support which contribute to the day-to-day cost. Perhaps 8 hours per month is spent dealing with support, just as a rough guess."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by BMC TrueSight Operations Management users.

Mudassir A., Sr. Technical Consultant at a tech services company, says, "The event management part of TrueSight Operations Management, in my experience, is probably the best in the market. You have endless flexibility. You can build your own rules, you have the MRL language, and you can implement any kind of logic on the alerts. It may be correlation, abstraction, or executing something as a result of the alerts. You have almost the whole range of options available for event management using the available customization."

A General Manager - Sales at a tech services company explains, “There are many features that are most valuable in BMC TrueSight Operations Management. First, its proactive monitoring feature is highly developed. BMC TrueSight Operations Management is an intelligent tool that's able to understand day-to-day operations and consistently gives alerts. The alerts are not automatic for some activities, e.g. some alerts are given monthly, while some are given more frequently. The consolidated dashboard where you can enjoy a single pane of glass to look at the full infrastructure from the servers to the VMs, to the clouds, to the application, to the database, to the network devices, including having a topology, and having a tendency map of the topology of key offerings, is also a valuable feature of this solution.”

An Information Systems Computer System Controller at an insurance company states, “The business event manager tool that consolidates detailed information from a single instance of equipment is the most valuable thing for me. It provides support for the business tools and the IT services which come from several systems.”

    Reviews from Real Users

Oracle Enterprise Manager stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Several major ones are its central management and monitoring and its reporting capabilities

Robin C., head of Oracle Exadata Centre of Excellence at Tata Consultancy Services, writes, "The database performance monitoring features are very useful and allow us to quickly zero in on DB-related issues. Exadata storage server and Infiniband switches can be viewed from the GUI in OEM which cannot be done in other tools. The ability to deploy metric extensions makes this tool extensible for our custom monitoring also."

PeerSpot users note the effectiveness of these features. A database manager at a tech services company notes, “The solution's most valuable aspect is the fact that it is embedded with the Oracle database and Oracle's engineering system, its extra data, and analytics.  They have plug-ins that are very helpful. Due to the infrastructure's size, the introduction they offer is very, very useful. It helps with an overall understanding of the product. They have a very nice graphical user interface. The monitoring is good. We can capture the SQL tune from us. With Oracle Enterprise Managers, we can see the rich performance tuning.”
