"The ability of this platform to monitor the very diverse assets that we maintain around the world is its most valuable feature... We support a vast array of manufacturers' equipment, like HP, IBM, Cisco, Dell, EMC, Hitachi... The solution directs me to areas that I should look for first.""An affordable solution for small organizations to do basic network monitoring.""I like the ability to amend and adjust things really easily, which is useful in a case where you could make it auto-discover and then set a template to say all of these applications or servers under this template have an automatic threshold set that you’d set up manually.""There's a module called Icinga Director, which helps us configure the product using an intuitive interface through clicks instead of creating a text configuration. "The product must provide application or service monitoring features.""The one piece that I would love to see is a general-purpose, configurable agent which would be a framework that you can deploy on anything, whether it be Java or anything else. It would allow you to easily deploy it on a platform that they support.""The stability of BMC TrueSight Operations Management needs improvement. My organization's infrastructure is vast and implemented based on BMC recommendations, but the solution needs to be optimized for large-capacity infrastructure.""More modules for less popular applications and better documentation.""Specifically around application performance monitoring, BMC is definitely not the market leader. The Dynatraces, the New Relics and the like are more of the market leaders in that space. I would like to see them grow that space a little bit more aggressively. "One of the areas that are frustrating is remote monitoring for more than one machine.""In general, the product does not look good. However, it does what it is supposed to do. So, the improvements should focus on usability and UI.""One thing that Icinga lacks is the capability to create advanced and customized dashboards within the tool itself.""We have found some problems with Nagios, and support isn't very responsive.""I think the software is quite good, but we have had problems with getting it to recognize certain areas and amend certain checks, where we needed so we would have to create backend scripts for those checks.
