Continuous monitoring has strengthened external security and improved customer trust
There are areas for improvement; we do notice sometimes finding vulnerabilities which gives us visibility to find them quickly. However, there could be a mechanism they can build on top of that for validation as they identify the issues. What will the real risk be for that identifiable issue? Sometimes it could be open because of the traffic; how they detected it could be seen as vulnerable, but upon testing, it might not be a real issue. It could be a false positive because there could be a honeypot that we built. My thinking is about validation, so if they can build that validation part before they expose the risk to the specific asset, that would help. Additionally, based on their reporting, they could also build risk scores and prioritization, which would also aid us. I would suggest adding dashboards and custom reporting, which could help us by enabling rich custom reports with filters. That is especially for leadership because they will not look at each technical area, but overall they would be looking at the risk score and what the assets or critical exposure areas are. Customizable reporting based on requirements would be valuable. I chose 9 out of 10 because the reporting and dashboards would be the first thing I would consider for improvement, and then the second is about the validation part, which could probably improve to 10 out of 10. I cannot think of too much for additional improvements. Maybe some good automation with the API solutions that could be integrated with the CI/CD pipeline or DevOps tools we are running would also be automated and tested.

Regarding mean time to respond, the improvements I see with SentinelOne Singularity Complete are that genuine files also get alerts. We are getting false positives, but we are also getting genuine true positive alerts. The improvement will be deep visibility because as I am using Splunk as a SIEM, I compare deep visibility with Splunk, but deep visibility has limited access with only a 14-day policy to retain logs. The improvement will be in overall policy management. The third point will be the complexity of policies. If we want some endpoints to use only USB or if we need to block USB on some points, the policy management is very complex. The fourth point will be that Mac OS and Linux don't have the rollback policy; that policy is only for Windows. These four points are improvements if SentinelOne Singularity Complete can address them. Data privacy and security when utilizing Purple AI is crucial for SentinelOne Singularity Complete, and SentinelOne Singularity Complete lacks in data security. Data security is very important in this world. In my organization, if we deploy SentinelOne Singularity Complete and we have integrated all the firewalls, all devices, and AWS devices to SentinelOne Singularity Complete, logs will be forwarded to SentinelOne Singularity Complete through SentinelOne Singularity Complete. However, SentinelOne Singularity Complete doesn't have data security solutions such as Forcepoint DLP or 48 layer; SentinelOne Singularity Complete doesn't have that DLP solution. From the data security point of view, SentinelOne Singularity Complete is not good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Offers open ports from an external point of view."
"BitSight provides information about the external servers, botnet infection and credential leaks, and also offers open ports from an external point of view, so we benefit before any adversary misuses the particular servers that are exposed externally."
"The security posture trends can be communicated visually, which is fantastic."
"I prefer BitSight due to its patch management capabilities. The score is a valuable feature. I have contacted the customer support through e-mail and their response rate is fast. I rate the solution a nine out of ten."
"If you are exactly looking for external attack surface monitoring, and you are exploring options, then Bitsight is a very good option that you can explore."
"Bitsight gives me a holistic view of my entire security posture, which is something any organization would want to have after getting a tool such as Bitsight."
"The solution is user-friendly."
"The best thing about BitSight is the comprehensive list of risk vectors, covering compromised systems, diligence failures, and behavioral anomalies."
"The anti-ransomware capability to analyze the threats and user-friendliness are the most valuable features."
"The best features I and my clients like the most about Singularity Platform are that, first of all, it's easy to handle, it doesn't take a lot of time to get into, there's no real obscurity, it takes a load of work from the team, and in most cases, you can literally just configure it once and leave it running until something comes up, and it will just work."
"I think that is where SentinelOne Singularity Endpoint stands out; they are doing quite great there, and at the same time, the Purple AI feature is much better."
"SentinelOne Singularity Complete has positively impacted my company by being hassle-free, providing good ROI, giving the best security with its rollback feature, offering extensive integration with other solutions, and using such a lightweight agent that it does not cause any system slowness."
"I could not recommend SentinelOne highly enough."
"The setup is very straightforward."
"The product is a lighter client. Our previous solution ran heavy on the workstation and caused performance issues."
"The most valuable feature is the machine learning capability, as opposed to the traditional rule-based antivirus."

Cons

"Since if the number of findings increases for a particular month, your overall risk score decreases, which can become a challenge for a team working on this particular issue."
"There may be room for improvement in the methodology for identifying findings, as occasional errors occur on the technical side."
"The solution’s benchmarking should be improved."
"There has been quite a bit of data discrepancy in BitSight."
"There are areas for improvement; we do notice sometimes finding vulnerabilities which gives us visibility to find them quickly. However, there could be a mechanism they can build on top of that for validation as they identify the issues."
"I would rate Bitsight closer to nine, or somewhere between eight and nine, because the reasons I do not rate it a ten relate to opportunities for improvement I mentioned, such as broader risk, cyber risk intelligence, and emphasis on supply chain risk intelligence."
"We found that some of the findings are clear false positives, but they still report that, and based on that, the rating goes down until we rectify them."
"At the moment, when the vulnerability score decreases, it remains the same for quite a while, even though issues are resolved in 24 hours."
"The reporting needs improvement and I would like to see a more granular level of administrative privileges."
"One way to improve and get additional benefits would be for SentinelOne to host the updated installer files for us, rather than us having to download and host them ourselves."
"It's good on Linux, and Windows is pretty good except that the Windows agents sometimes ask for a lot of resources on the endpoints. That could be in the fine-tuning for scanning. In Mac, they are complaining about the same problems, that it's using a lot of resources, but that could also be that we have to configure what it is scanning and what it should not scan. Currently it scans everything."
"There should be Terraform support for console administration. Dynamic tagging would be also useful."
"The endpoint firewall capability is fairly primitive and basic."
"There should be more integration models with different security operations tools or soft tools."
"We have had cases where Singularity Complete has caused applications to malfunction."
"Everything is now offered as a service, so the console and the licensing model can be improved to make things easier, especially when updating new versions of the software."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's price is average."
"The product has a reasonable price."
"The pricing for SentinelOne Singularity Complete is competitive."
"You have to look at the kinds of problems you can end up with and the fact that you want security against them, and then SentinelOne is not expensive."
"SentinelOne Singularity Complete can be expensive for the SMB market but is suitable for enterprise-level organizations."
"We are on a subscription model by choice. Therefore, we are paying a premium for the flexibility. We would have huge cost savings if we committed to a three-year buy-in. So, it's more expensive than the other solutions that we were looking at, but we have the flexibility of a subscription model. I think the pricing is fair. For example, if we had a three-year tie-in SentinelOne versus Cylance or one of the others, there is not that much difference in pricing. There might be a few euro or dollars here and there, but it's negligible."
"The pricing and licensing make sense."
"I do not know much about the pricing. What I do know is that the person who negotiates most of the pricing is quite a hard bargainer. In that regard, he often says that he managed to get a very good deal. When we first looked at replacing our old system with Singularity Complete, its price was definitely a big factor. Back then, Singularity Complete was fairly new to the marketplace. We got quite a good deal as an early adopter. They have honored that and respected that we were an early adopter, and I feel we are still getting a very good price."
"SentinelOne Singularity Complete meets all enterprise requirements and is priced accordingly."
"For our use case, the solution is affordable. There are not any hidden fees."
