Provides good protection and works well when configured correctly
It works well as long as you set it right. You have to be careful with Bitdefender. It's different when you use it on laptops and desktops, but on servers, it's not the same. You need to make proper settings on it for what you ought to exclude. The problems it was causing were mainly because they didn't set it up properly. When you start putting it on things, you have to make sure you don't include certain things and that you make proper rules and settings to say go scan this or that. When you're installing anything like this on desktops, laptops, servers, or anything else, you want to make sure that you have done the research first and that you know what to include or exclude. Overall, I'd rate it an eight out of ten.

Retrieves data from quarantines and easy to read logs with robust security features
Some of the searchability when looking for specifics in Exchange logs is tedious. Although eventually the information is located, it can be difficult if detailed information is lacking. Improving the search process by allowing searches with different types of parameters and facilitating searches within emails would be advantageous. Simplifying interfaces would also be appreciated.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The protection that it provides is valuable because the biggest problem that people and companies have been seeing in the last two or three years is scams and everything like that."
"We like the holding facility that is available for potentially suspicious URL's. This allows a real-time review to be performed before the email reaches a users inbox."
"The email policy configuration options in Microsoft EOP are satisfactory."
"The solution's stability is very, very good. I didn't face any problems in the last year."
"The solution uses artificial intelligence and machine learning, so you don't need train it to detect something. The detection and response times are short. It's an excellent product."
"It's definitely scalable."
"With Microsoft Exchange Online Protection, if malware is attached to a mailer, it's very easy to go into the incident alert and find out what's happening with that identity and the mail."
"The product's most valuable feature is third-party integrations."
"It is an easy solution."

Cons

"I remember when they first pushed it to the DBM server, my backup server at the time, it caused a lot of issues because they were supposed to exclude all the folders that they were backing up to and had the storage. I got hold of the security group and asked them to uninstall it. We uninstalled it, ran a script, and then it fixed the problem."
"Microsoft 365 Defender and EOP policies are stable with the proper license. However, with the basic policy, it's hard to say it's stable due to configuration limitations."
"Some features, like encryption, are not available."
"The tool is not 100% stable."
"The solution lacks to elaborate on its spam policies."
"Some of the searchability when looking for specifics in Exchange logs is tedious."
"The licensing can be on the expensive side, especially in the cloud space."
"Not all settings can be configured automatically and most still require manual configuration. However, there is an automation tool available that can be used to input all the configurations either as a script or a tool it would be helpful."
"The reporting needs a little bit of improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It was included in the account that we had. We didn't have to pay for it."
"The solution falls on the higher or more expensive side of the spectrum."
"The product is bundled with Microsoft 365."
"Microsoft Exchange Online Protection is a good solution at an affordable price. It is a good investment."
"The product's pricing is competitive for the US market."
"The price could be lower."
"The solution's pricing is subscription-based rather than a yearly licensing cost. Pricing is based on the size of the environment and company and can be expensive."
"The solution is expensive but is backed by Microsoft's reputation."
"Regarding the price, it's comparable to other service providers. We've also looked at Check Point's offerings, and the pricing doesn't seem to be an issue."
