OLAP ad-hoc analysis is a valuable feature but the pricing needs to be improved.

Brings reporting, planning, and prediction together in one seamless workflow
I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's allowed us to implement High Performance Work teams who periodically monitor KPIs, as well as improving the infrastructure and overall work methodology."
"The new Application Design option offers lots of customization options by being able to script in Typescript (similar to Javascript)."
"The biggest impact for me and my client comes from the integration and reporting aspects, as normally in BW/4HANA, high costs are incurred when purchasing separate features, but in SAP Business Data Cloud, all features can be accessed under one purchase."
"In the data warehouse, you're free to make changes. You can make everything text, meaning it's always a string. Even numbers appear as text, giving you the flexibility to work with all columns."
"SAP Analytics Cloud provides benefits such as time savings and cost-effectiveness because anyone using a planning tool traditionally relies on Excel sheets to build planning."
"It integrates with third-party applications such as Google Drive and Excel,"
"The features that I have found most valuable with SAP ERP products are their good user interface, stability, functionality, and good interface options."
"The reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and visualization are the most valuable."
"The most valuable features are the visualization and user-friendliness; it's like a self-service platform, and if the connectivity is good then anyone can log in and use it."

Cons

"Pricing needs to be brought down."
"In terms of what could be improved, I would say their positioning. Effectively there are too many parts from SAP in the planning and consolidation space."
"Now, improvements are coming quarterly whereas previously it was on a monthly basis. Even with this, it is still a market leader."
"Overall, my experience has been positive, but I think SAP Business Data Cloud could be further improved on onboarding experience for new users, because the platform brings together multiple concepts such as data integration, governance, modeling, and analytics."
"I rate the scalability as a seven out of ten, as the solution occasionally falls to pieces and requires us to tweak our scripting."
"I would rate SAP Analytics Cloud seven out of 10 because the product needs to mature a lot. SAP still needs to add several features to make it a robust BI solution."
"Figuring out how to navigate all of the products around Data Warehouse Cloud and SAP Analytics Cloud and BW for HANA is quite difficult."
"The budget management could be better."
"They need more support for more languages, Python for example."
