Azure Backup supports all the features that we need, so additional features are not an immediate need for me. The documentation for Azure Backup seems okay for me; it is good overall, but it should be more descriptive for each item. It should elaborate more on how backup and restore are fulfilled in different scenarios. One of the reviews indicates that Azure Backup needs improvements for specific backup options beyond just full VM snapshots. I believe it should be improved actually. Regarding specific backup options, I say there should be improvements compared to how they provided them in older days.

Experience with offsite backup enhances data integrity and reduces on-premise reliance
One of the features of Veritas Alta SaaS Protection that customers are looking for is immutability. This is the most important feature. With the cloud, Veritas Alta SaaS Protection is actually in the cloud, which means they have unlimited space to do their backups. They can expand on a need-to-need basis. The automated recovery feature of Veritas Alta SaaS Protection makes the recovery much easier, as opposed to earlier methods where we were using scripts to do the restore. Currently, it's automated so you just do a click. You select the feature in a graphical interface, making it easy to use even for a newbie.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The feature that I have found the most valuable is that it is easy to create a backup by using Azure Backup. It also has a good user interface and nice features for sending notifications when any backup fails or there is a change in the status of virtual machines."
"We are happy with this product and have not found any issues while using it."
"The solution helped us use R2 RBO to back up frequently."
"Setting up Azure Backup is straightforward and the total deployment time was about a month."
"The scalability has been good."
"The hardware is always updated and it's saved us a lot of money."
"This solution is easy to configure and restore. It is a Microsoft product so is easily compatible with other solutions."
"All of the core features are valuable to us."
"The duplication is the solution's most valuable feature."
"It's very comprehensive. It's one of the first brands to appear in its field."
"We're comfortable using this kind of technology; it's user-friendly."
"The most valuable features are the ease of administration and the ease of configuration."
"We're comfortable using this kind of technology. It's user-friendly."
"The solution's hardware appliance is very scalable and very useful."
"The solution is quite stable, and we haven't had any problems over the past five years of use."
"The most valuable features are the ease of administration and the ease of configuration."

Cons

"To make it a ten, it should have the ability to extend the retention and to perform a copy of the data outside of the subscription - with no additional costs."
"The length of time it takes to restore is our main source of frustration. It would be beneficial to shorten the time it takes."
"One of the reviews indicates that Azure Backup needs improvements for specific backup options beyond just full VM snapshots. I believe it should be improved actually."
"In the next release, I would like to see the ability to back up to different cloud providers."
"I once tried restoring a Linux environment, and the size of the Linux VM or the data disk was really huge. It took a really long time to restore the environment and send the data from the storage to the disk."
"In Avamar, the file-based restores are very quick and fast, whereas, in Azure Backup, VM restore is super easy, but if I have to do a file or a folder restore, I have to mount the entire VM image. I have to wait for some time for it to be mounted, and then I have to go inside and then check the file and copy it somewhere. It's a bit of a manual process, whereas in Avamar, you can directly select a file and folder, and it'll recover with whatever permissions you want."
"Azure sometimes provides reliable recovery that can be slow for large-scale scenarios."
"The support for Office365 backup is atrocious and is something that has to be improved."
"When you finish a project, the client should have the opportunity to browse the files rather than simply ending the contract."
"The usability of the solution isn't the best."
"The go-between is a Veritas partner, so the customer support was not that good."
"Licensing has been a struggle. It went from bronze, silver to gold. Licensing needs more sophistication. It has features that are sold as separate add-ons."
"An area for improvement is the product's performance, especially how long it takes to do a job."
"Other people will prefer this solution because they're used to it. However, from my point of view, you have more breaks, more failures on it than you will with Commvault."
"The technical team wasn't very helpful."
"The backup reports and the dashboard need improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a very cheap cloud solution."
"Azure Backup is a product that is priced at a cheap rate, and it is a great tool."
"The product's pricing is a three or four out of ten, where one is inexpensive, and ten is costly."
"Support payment works by the level of partnership and the number of shares."
"We do not have any additional costs for Azure Backup."
"The price is somewhat high and could be lower."
"Pay as you go is the pricing model."
"It is incredibly cost-effective and offers fixed pricing, with no additional fees for the licensing."
"This solution is not cheap and not expensive but priced in the mid-range."
"The program is quite expensive."
"The tool is expensive compared to Veeam."
"I would rate this solution's pricing as five out of five."
"SaaS Backup isn't the most expensive solution."
