Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Has faced challenges adapting to evolving capture methods and competitive integrations
It's difficult to say what I'd improve in Tungsten TotalAgility because we haven't been actively marketing that particular product in the last probably six to nine months. The speed of product development means that my experience with it is likely out of date in terms of the product suite capabilities. The difficulty with customers nowadays is that they are subject to the winds of change in terms of the adoption of cloud technologies and the offerings those cloud technologies bring. Microsoft, for instance, is rapidly filling in the spaces between various product areas that other vendors typically owned. That makes it difficult for customers to settle on their functional requirements because the offers are competing in the same space. I look for more integration with mainstream subscription based platforms, more security integration, and possibly some more lifecycle management features. However, the difficulty with that is the competition with existing options that people have in their subscription library.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We valued the ease of use, when we were thinking about scaling out to the business. The recording feature, while not a developer tool - it is a tool for a business user who may not possess the thought process of a developer - we valued that in our evaluation."
"It is easy to use. It helps to reduce your man-hours and manual effort."
"It's really easy to use, and we have a number of people at our firm who are now certified RPA developers that had no development background."
"We have saved time and money using the solution."
"The technical support is very good. We are very happy with them."
"Basically, to be frank, most of the features are awesome."
"The product is easy to use. It is a good tool for developers and business users."
"We work on SAP as well as many other internal platforms, and this solution can very easily be moved between them."
"Kofax TotalAgility helped us greatly in reducing manual work because comparing document content was done manually in the past, and now the comparison is completely done by the solution, and it's been a great help to our organization."
"It is user-friendly and has good documentation."
"We are currently processing over 60,000 invoices per month with no more than 25 individuals."
"The product is really good, and it is easy to use. It comes with multiple integrations. The solution keeps up with the trend of Microsoft Copilot and AI."
"It can be a good product for BPM; you can do BPM projects with it, do case management and capture extraction with Kofax TotalAgility, and it can also integrate quite seamlessly with third-party applications, so it is quite good."
"It is a stable solution; I have worked with many big companies where they scan millions of pages every year and hundreds of users are using it every day, and it is a stable application; it is reliable, there are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn’t crash or freeze."
"Most customers benefit from multichannel capture, business processes, along with image processing capabilities, and centralized administration and reporting."
"Kofax is very easy to use, UI-friendly and allows easy data extraction."

Cons

"We've struggled with some of the new features Automation Anywhere added in the latest version. For example, they added a new OpenAI package, but it took a while for me to find it in the actions menu."
"The solution should have a more robust forum to help users navigate the solution, learn about it, and get help when they need it."
"I am looking for artificial intelligence and machine learning. I hope that they introduce them in A2019. I'm looking forward to what will be there in A2019 because that's the area that we need to go forward. We are looking for Automation Anywhere to put up their efforts to make it easier by incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning. Along with RPA, this would make our automation journey very easy. We can bring more processes into automation, that's where I am looking for automation to focus on."
"I would like the support to be faster. Their response time is one to two days."
"Product support for our customers needs improvement. They should increase the support personnel."
"I want the tool to be more stabilized. After three or four hours, the navigation keeps changing. We will be running error handling for 8,000 process and the system will fail. We need it to be more stable."
"The version that I used (10.3) was not that stable. It easily crashed in-between processes."
"We would like a better coding interface for developers. We would also like to have a user interface which reduces the time to learn the product so more people in the organization can use software, like Automation Anywhere, quickly automating processes."
"Room for improvement would be better OCR functionality in terms of Arabic OCR. There should be better accuracy."
"The initial setup is a bit complex - more than other OCR tools available in the market."
"Kofax TotalAgility is quite vast and complex as a product."
"Kofax TotalAgility is quite vast and complex as a product. We came from Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation, then we started learning Kofax TotalAgility, so there are a lot of things that were quite straightforward in the Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation cross-motion modules, but to do those in Kofax TotalAgility was a bit more complex or quite long-winded and could be improved. In the next release of Kofax TotalAgility, it would be good to have a straightforward low-code or no-code process because there were instances we struggled with having to put logic into a script or a .NET script, then calling that script, instead of the process being low-code, no-code."
"There needs to be more accessible certification and better pricing."
"The Transformation Designer of KTA can be made better."
"Kofax needs to improve the low-code or citizen developers."
"Customer service was very poor."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have seen ROI on one of the process, but not on the other processes yet."
"It is not too expensive, but there are many tools available in the market that can provide the same functionality at a cheaper price."
"On average, a bot runner in Automation Anywhere can cost $5,000, while in Microsoft Power Automate, you can get most of the same functionality for $100."
"We would like to use Citrix going forward. We use Bot Runners to scale up, and it gets to be expensive. Using Citrix, it can mitigate costs."
"It is affordable for us."
"The ROI is really good. We have saved time and money."
"The pricing for Automation Anywhere is reasonable."
"Our annual licensing costs are around $100,000 a year."
"It has a perpetual license. You pay once in a lifetime for the volume of scans you will do and the number of users you will have. You can have participants or regular users, and you can have developers and administrators. So, once you purchase it, it is for a lifetime, and then every year, you have to pay for the maintenance. There is an annual maintenance cost, which is about 18% of the licensing cost."
"Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive."
"It is slightly more expensive than other tools."
"The licensing cost for Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive, though I'm unable to give you the range, the sales representatives of my company say that the product is quite expensive."
"The price of this solution is less than some of the competition."
