Efficient mobile testing with intuitive emulation capabilities and a user-friendly interface
Initial setup for Appium (especially for iOS) is not beginner-friendly.Consumes too much of your host machine's resources, potentially slowing down the machine.Appium Inspector often lacks deep insight or crashes with certain app builds. Improve test flakiness by intelligently selecting robust self-healing locators, simplified installers, better documentation, GUI-based config management, smart wait mechanisms and better failure logs.

Good for omni-channel banking, but development ease should be improved
We sell solutions to companies, and I'm a part of the banking team Omni-channel banking is valuable. Development ease should be improved. It should be easier for developers. It is stable. It is scalable. Their support is average. It is neither good nor bad. I would rate them a three out of…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It can be used with different programming languages."
"It is an indispensable tool for mobile automation helps much in converting manual test cases to automated scripts."
"Appium's best feature is that it supports multiple frameworks."
"It's an open-source solution with a very large community and available documentation."
"It runs completely flawlessly and seamlessly every day."
"I like that Appium is an opensource tool, I also like its cross-platform flexibility, and Appium provides a record-and-play option with commands that are the same as those that Selenium uses so a person who has some exposure to Selenium will be able to write a piece of code in Appium."
"Within a single command, we can easily connect to the device."
"Many reference areas on the web can help you understand the product quite well."
"Omni-channel banking is valuable."

Cons

"The product was a bit difficult to install. It wasn’t easy. We had issues."
"Installation of this particular tool is tedious, and it gives you a good number of challenges at times."
"We haven't been able to fully leverage Appium for multiple reasons. I think number one is just that the tests take a long time to run. We have had some issues around just the results themselves and how predictable they are, but those are not issues with Appium directly."
"There is always a concern about the amount of code that is required to enhance the automation process. The idea of having less code or no code is what we would like to see in future updates."
"When doing mobile testing Appium is difficult as you can't use it for mobile testing in virtual machines."
"The last time I used it, whenever I selected and clicked on an element, Appium was very slow."
"Configuration-wise, there is a lot of room for improvement."
"Appium can improve when the case fails, there should be a feature where you can generate the report from Appium. Once you're on a test case, automatically the screenshot should be captured which would avoid manual intervention. These features would be beneficial to migrate to Appium."
"Development ease should be improved. It should be easier for developers."
