Faced limitations with integration and long-term adaptability but benefited from a lightweight architecture for standalone applications
I find valuable and beneficial the independence that comes with Apache Web Server. You can build a small project using a simple application server without bothering too much about how to manage it. The compatibility with multiple operating systems has helped my operations since most of the time we use Linux. Some systems rely on Windows, but they are few; in the past, Windows was the dominant operating system for mainstream PCs and infrastructure, but not for business. All the companies I worked for had 90% Linux and maybe up to 10% Windows. The initial setup of Apache Web Server was straightforward and okay.

Has enabled complex data flow management but faces limitations with modern integration needs
There are areas of Oracle SOA Suite I would like to see improved or enhanced in the future, particularly regarding its adapter capabilities. The popularity of Oracle Integration Cloud nowadays arises from its larger set of adapter capabilities, including numerous application adapters. In contrast, Oracle SOA Suite provides a limited number of adapters. I would like to see more REST-based features added to Oracle SOA Suite, currently lacking, along with an enhancement of file size or payload capability, as the existing limitation is a 10 MB payload size. Additionally, Oracle SOA Suite licensing cost tends to be higher, adhering to a fixed pricing model rather than a pay-per-use basis, which might not be suitable for smaller organizations.

Pros

"Apache is a powerful tool with which you can make it do just about anything you need."
"In my experience, Apache Web Server has been a good and stable solution."
"Apache Web Server can be used as a proxy server"
"The control panel is very easy to navigate. It's similar to most hosting platforms, so it's user-friendly. Once you get used to it, managing your hosting becomes easy, too."
"It is more secure to use Apache and you will have fewer problems than other web services."
"The solution offers good security."
"Its community is its most valuable feature. Solving problems is easier on Apache because so many people know this product."
"Apache has proven to be incredibly reliable, and everything has operated smoothly without encountering any issues."
"Conceptually, how it integrates a lot of essential enterprise process components, that's the most valuable."
"In Oracle SOA Suite some applications are not able to use REST, but it can support both SOAP and REST. You're able to integrate quite a lot of systems, which may not be able to in other solutions. You can also use XML and JSON. It is a standardizing type of tool. It doesn't matter whether I'm using JSON or XML, it can convert them."
"We now have a place that allows our integration to happen, whether that's through the agile API running that process or by having our web team develop something that reaches back into the database to grab data."
"The product allows you to visualize how a company is working currently by providing rich possibilities for analysis such as the audit trails and therefore shows where improvements might be valuable."
"Valuable features include connectors and BAM."
"Enables our Product Manager to post products to different outside EC platforms with only one interface and one process."
"Technical support has been good."
"The product provides transparency in finances."

Cons

"No support is available from Apache software foundation."
"It would be great if technical support for Apache were available in Iran. It is a very important need."
"There isn't a dedicated customer support available"
"There is a security-related problem that depends on the web server's configuration."
"The major issue occurs with ports. So, I would like to see easier port management."
"The product's initial setup process could be easier for users."
"It would be great if technical support for Apache were available in Iran. It is a very important need."
"With Apache, you can't update the system. There is a big gap between models. I don't like this."
"The deployment could be made easier by including add-ons like Hudson and Maven."
"Granted, we're not on the newest and latest version, but there are some performance and reliability issues with the SOA Suite."
"There are networking and firewall issues that tend to delay our projects."
"Nevertheless, the stability when used with JDeveloper needs improvement."
"The Maven integration in JDeveloper is very basic and might be enhanced to allow the proper use of Maven."
"The technical support was average. It's a complex product, so it really takes time before you can find someone who knows, or someone who can get the right answer that we are looking for, and sometimes you don't, even if it takes ages."
"We have always seen issues around integration tools and it's difficult to resolve issues sometimes when things pile up."
"Framework extensibility needs to be worked on."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a free-of-cost solution."
"There is no licensing cost for the product."
"The apache software is free, open-source."
"It is an open-source solution."
"It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
"The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
"Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
"Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."
"This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
"The product is moderately priced."
"Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
