Can always access reports through intuitive dashboards that support diverse data connections
I can't specifically say how Amazon QuickSight could be improved since I focus more on using it and leveraging its functionalities. However, I could invest additional time to explore possible feedback from customers regarding their challenges. As cloud engineers, our capacity to improve is limited since AWS manages the services, but I would be open to feedback. I'm aware there are minor details that AWS could enhance, such as optimizing costs for beginners or small startups, which can be steep when trying to take Amazon QuickSight into production. Many have noticed that AWS services greatly benefit well-established companies, while startups struggle with costs as they transition data out of AWS. Understanding how AWS charges for Amazon QuickSight usage is critical for all users wanting to visualize their data effectively.

Has supported secure report building and simplified data visualization for non-technical users
The features I find most useful in Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service include data visualization desktop for self-service reports. We can export using Excel and CSV files by dragging and dropping the columns to create reports. The drag-and-drop interface in Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service helps create dashboards for non-technical users as it is easy to use. By dragging and dropping columns, it creates a tabular view by default. We can convert these into many graphs and views such as pivot tables and other interactive graphical representations. I use self-service analytics in Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product is easy to learn."
"Amazon QuickSight has an interactive dashboard that is beautiful and user-friendly, with beautiful colors and good icons that are easy to identify, allowing users to click, drag and drop, and extract data without facing complexity or a terminal-based interface."
"It helped the managers to visualize the data activities."
"QuickSight is a great savior in terms of row level security, providing almost equivalent value to Tableau and Power BI."
"Amazon QuickSight is a data visualization tool that is a major component in business intelligence to extract insights from the data warehouse, enabling senior managers to have a clear vision about the data, clients, and organization to make major business decisions or strategic decisions about improving the business."
"From an analytics perspective, it's really good for self-service analytics."
"Interactive dashboards do help with data analysis."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its flexibility to visualize certain logs."
"The solution effectively integrates with third-party products."
"Its ease of use and the ability to drill down into detail are the most valuable. Executive dashboarding features are the most commonly used ones."
"Initial setup was straightforward."
"The most valuable features are user-friendly and self-service tools. Users can define their reports based on available data sets, with multiple dimensions and slide and dice data capabilities."

Cons

"The setup process falls somewhere in the middle. It is not straightforward, nor is it complex, but there is a significant amount of work needed on the back end to make it function."
"You can't tell a data story as well in QuickSight as you can on others, especially in TIBCO Spotfire."
"One area for improvement is the cost, as it's a bit expensive."
"It can be made more user-friendly as some users might find this solution hard to implement. Qlik Sense, for example, is very user-friendly."
"The product has some storage and SPICE data issues."
"It should support integration with Python or R."
"An area for improvement in Amazon QuickSight is storage. Data cleanup also needs improvement because I'm experiencing errors when cleaning the data. Amazon QuickSight needs video tutorials showing its different functions and purposes."
"There is room for improvement in terms of the number of visualizations and dashboards that are available."
"Quality of support varies."
"The dashboard could be improved and include additional features."
"In terms of data modeling, it could be simplified. Sometimes, it seems complicated. Also, the response time for data set refreshes could be faster to enhance the user experience."
"When looking at web-based BI or cloud-based BI vendors, there should be abilities for power users to build deep analysis. If they are not data science tools, they are not for power users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I wouldn't say that it is an expensive product, but to stay competitive they would need to bring down the prices."
"I'm using a paid version of Amazon QuickSight, paying about $22 monthly. As I have yet to learn about the pricing for other tools, such as Power BI, I won't be able to compare."
"The Amazon QuickSight licensing model my company's on is pay-as-you-go, but I wouldn't be able to give the figures because that's handled by the finance department."
"The product pricing is better than other vendors."
"A highly affordable cost structure with fixed membership and timeframe basis options."
"I rate the price of Amazon QuickSight a four on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
"It's affordable compared to other long-term contractor business tools available in the market."
"The solution's pricing is cheaper than the other products in the market."
"The solution's pricing is reasonable compared to other products."
"Oracle products are always going to be on the higher end of your price scale. You have to kind of accept that going in."
