We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I believe in the ability to connect to multiple data sources, as well as the ease of use to transform data and output data in a variety of formats.""The functionality of drag and drop is the most valuable. It is a very user-friendly tool that can be understood easily. My teams also work with other solutions, such as Integration Services, and these solutions are very difficult for people who don't have technical knowledge.""The most valuable features are the integrated properties and integrated connectivity.""Alteryx Designer's best features are that it's easy to use and performs well.""The solution is easy to integrate and user-friendly.""It has an easy setup process.""We use Alteryx Designer for analytics. It's quite helpful because once we set it up, we don't have to manually update or process data repeatedly. It saves time, especially for financial reporting, which is typically done monthly or quarterly. Once we set it up initially, we only need to make occasional updates if necessary.""One of the things I like about Alteryx Designer is how easy it is to connect numerous data inputs, including API connectors. This helps tremendously in reducing the time required to extract data from systems like SAP that don't have straightforward connectivity options."

"The most valuable feature is the metadata generated code.""Naturally produces a way to easily debug your DW data solutions.""WhereScape RED has improved our business's ability to generate needed reporting without requiring a large team of developers to manually code all of the necessary plumbing.""This is a fantastically robust DW tool that will make you at least 10 times faster in producing a DW.""Support is absolutely excellent, efficient, and timely.""Quickly develops a data warehouse for our organization with documentation and can track back/forward features.""Data transformations and rollups are easy to accomplish.""RED generates comprehensive documentation and regenerates it as quickly as things changes, but it also provides impact documentation."

Cons
"Alteryx needs to improve its web governance. The gallery you use to filter the data is something else that could use some work. For instance, if you have a report connected to a database and want to filter a specific user, you should be able to suggest a specific region or a particular year. I know that the Alteryx isn't designed for data governance, but that would be great to think about.""The product could offer more connectors and more databases with support for the in-database function.""Alteryx could move faster to create a cloud equivalent of the desktop version of Designer.""Improving the key-based sign-on process and making it more user-friendly would be a benefit.""The actual usage part of it needs to be explained more. It's too vague right now.""When it comes to the pivoting part, the drill-through option is not there in Alteryx.""An improvement for Alteryx Designer would be faster bug fixes and updates.""We need more documentation."

More Alteryx Designer Cons →

"It could use a tool to diagnose what is missing from the environment for WhereScape to install successfully.""No support for change data capture or delta detection - that must be custom coded .""Customization could be better.""Improve the object renaming ability (it works, but it could be more automated).""They need a more robust support center. It has been a bit difficult to find solutions to problems that are out-of-the-box.""Technical support isn't the best.""The scheduled jobs which are run by the WhereScape scheduler seem to be a strangely separate animal. Unlike all other WhereScape objects, jobs cannot be added to WhereScape projects. Also, unlike all other objects, jobs also cannot be deleted using a WhereScape deployment application.""The ability to execute SSIS projects within WhereScape would be nice because we have a lot of packages that are too cumbersome to recreate."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
  • "Alteryx is a little bit expensive compared to competing solutions."
  • "Alteryx Designer is an expensive solution."
  • "I rate Alteryx Designer a six out of ten for pricing."
  • "The licenses are expensive, making it difficult to consider acquiring additional licenses to the existing ones."
  • "Each license is something like $4,000."
  • "I rate the price of Alteryx Designer as a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is a highly cheap product."
  • "I rate the price of Alteryx Designer a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
