Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It provides faster go to market with fewer resources.""It lowers the burden of the security department.""We have critical security policies. With AlgoSec, we can create a security policy to manage critical applications. I have worked in the bank and they have critical applications. We created some security policies for those applications. Controlling the flow is critical for our customers.""AlgoSec gives organizations the visibility and intelligence needed to make application connectivity changes confidently while managing risk and compliance.""The most valuable feature is traffic simulation because, with this function, it has become more practical to know if something is released or blocked in my environment.""Breaking down a rule to specify used objects within groups and protocols has proven invaluable for us because we are able to narrow exposure to potential threats, and more generally, areas in which we are exposed.""Rather than logging in on separate firewalls, AlgoSec enables you to make changes on all firewalls from one pane of glass.""AlgoSec ASMS brings a holistic view of network firewall policy and automates firewall security management in very large-sized environments."

"Its ability to detect changes within our firewall.""It is a great solution. If you have all the devices and firewalls in place, the amount of details that you get along with the network topology is very good.""The initial setup was straightforward.""The solution is quite scalable.""One of the main things is to look at what policies haven't been hit, so we can remove those remnant policies when people come in, use it, and it's still left on the Check Point. So when a couple of users say, "This is not needed anymore." We'll remove it.""The visibility is very good. We have managers who are overseeing it, and they are approving things through it.""The automation piece is the most valuable feature: having SecureChange make the change on the firewalls, instead of my having to go manually make the changes on the vendor product.""Valuable features include a central pane of management for all the firewalls and the ability to do queries on the rules and understand in which files the rules are configured."

Cons
"Our experience with support has been inconsistent. Sometimes, support is fast and clean; other times, not so much. Occasionally, they have taken a while to respond or provided an inadequate workaround instead of a solution.""Needs better integration between modules and also a better troubleshooting methodology.""Needs better technical support and quicker response times.""They can make some improvements to the user interface because it can be slow at times.""It needs better API integration with its third-party firewall management.""There are sometimes issues with the Risky Rules reports where the number of hits is registering zero, but we know that this is incorrect because we have checked the rules and see that they are indeed registering traffic.""The user interface could be a little more user-friendly.""The license rekeying needed for when you need to change a firewall usually takes a bit of time."

More AlgoSec Cons →

"It needs better reporting with more graphics and more pie charts, so management can understand details. The reports that are done now are full of data and management would like to have an image to help understand, right away, what the reports are saying.""The topology needs improvement. If I click on the network tab, I can go get a cup of coffee, come back, and my topology is still not painted. Maybe, it's just because we have so many devices, but looking at the topology, it is too slow. The problem is that when I click on the network tab, I do not want to see the topology. I want to click on the "Next" button, so I can put in the source and destination, so I can see the path. However, I still have to sit there and wait for the topology to load, and it's frustrating. I'll click on topology and try to click that "Next" button in time to where I can get around it. But, typically, you have to wait for that topology to paint. When it paints it, it's just a bunch of black smudges because there is just so much there. It can't paint it to where you see something. I can always zoom out, or something like that, but it's really worthless.""I would like to see an improved reporting model that can be flexible for us to generate our own reports. The data's already there.""There was some complexity during the initial setup""I haven't seen the cloud integration yet, and I would like to see if we could audit the cloud firewalls, like the cloud-native, Azure, and Amazon. That would be nice. You want one tool to do everything. I don't want to use another tool, or manually go and audit the cloud firewalls.""I would like to see more about the cloud in the next release. They need a large plan to deploy the cloud into the solution and a way to implement it.""Lacks ability to create a Terraform that would enable deployment without manual steps.""My worry with Tufin is that it cannot connect to Fortinet, which is what I want to do."
