We performed a comparison between AlgoSec and Palo Alto Networks Panorama based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Firewall Security Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The solution helps visualize and manage the hybrid network."
"The solution is easy to navigate."
"It assists us in network security reviews and audits."
"The most valuable is helping us determine where our rules are too permissive. Based on previous human review of our rules, they are very cursory. We know why we do something, but we don't get into the details of whether the rule is nice and tight. What Firewall Analyzer lets us do is understand the risks presented by our rules. The tool does a calculation of all the traffic that could be allowed and we can match that to whether it should be allowed."
"We need less time to identify any risks in our firewalls, as we can detect changes in real-time."
"The features that are most valuable are the interactive topology map and the traffic simulation queries."
"It also provides very good visibility into the risk involved in firewall change requests and that is very important to us."
"One of the features that I like about AlgoSec is the topology table. It helps us understand where the traffic flows through, where it gets interconnected, and how the traffic flows from our device to the other device."
"The product features allow the capacity to take effective, advanced security measures."
"It allows administrators to manage all firewalls from a single interface, reducing the time and effort required for configuration."
"It provides a quicker response time to vulnerabilities and more visibility into traffic flows."
"Palo Alto Networks Panorama has good stability. I didn't see any instability from it, and its initial setup was straightforward."
"Palo Alto technical support is excellent."
"The reporting is great."
"The product can scale."
"The installation process is very simple."
"The simulation can be improved."
"We are using AlgoSec directly against our Cisco Firepower. At first, AlgoSec didn't work with Firepower. It didn't know how to read the logs. So, improvement has been made. Now, the feature that was available on the older generation firewall is available on the current one, but this is a problem which has already been dealt with."
"There are sometimes issues with the Risky Rules reports where the number of hits is registering zero, but we know that this is incorrect because we have checked the rules and see that they are indeed registering traffic."
"The user interface could be a little more user-friendly."
"The initial setup was extremely complex due to our large environment."
"We are still waiting to implement FireFlow, and getting it into place will hopefully speed up our implementation time and help with policy standardization."
"The initial setup can be complex for beginners."
"I would like an intelligent tuner where it could help update rules with the application ID."
"Price is probably one of the biggest things that we struggle with, specifically with Palo, and that's across their whole portfolio."
"I would like more dashboard management."
"My pain point is the automation process is not well-documented. There are some things that they could improve on there."
"The solution should improve the speed at which they make changes on the system. Historically, they've been a bit slow in that respect. They should apply changes to the box quicker and more often."
"Palo Alto Networks Panorama has some bugs that could be fixed."
"There is room for improvement in the integration within endpoint detection. They need to do some integration between endpoints and the firewalls."
"Palo Alto Networks Panorama currently lacks the capability of integrating with other software, such as AlgoSec to simplify rule management and schedule management. However, this feature has been requested by the company and it is uncertain if Palo Alto will implement it in the future. Additionally, the UI needs improvement, it is too slow."
"They need to do less bug-related releases and create versions that are stable for at least six months at a time. I don't find this issue in other solutions like Cisco, Check Point, FortiGate, or others. Those just provide a patch if there is a bug and we don't have to worry about downtime."
