Easy to setup with good auto-implementation and good rule reviews
AlgoSec is slow when it is loaded with too many firewalls and policies. A plan to take care of heavy usage is to be considered. Support of all firewalls and policy features to be enabled. AlgoSec should support in identifying most hit rules and re-ordering existing firewall rules - this is a very key to manage firewall CPU. A clustering of AlgoSec can also be considered. A group of AlgoSec servers managing large client bases geographically or datacenter-wise or function-wise. A head reporting unit and child processing units.

Centralized monitoring enhances control while seeking greater flexibility and rapid response
I am still working for Lotus. We work with Palo Alto three series, Panorama, and Firewall Banu, specifically Firewall three series and five series I find this solution valuable for full monitoring, centralized control for reporting, and centralized management. These features are instrumental in…

Pros

"It has streamlined our process for access and firewall management."
"I found that for policy optimization it does a great job."
"Detection of malicious activities and malware is much better than other options."
"AlgoSec contributes more in the security space for our company, especially in automatically finding the high risk and medium risk rules instead of manually reviewing over a few thousand rules."
"We use it for global firewall rules management to ensure global policies are applied to all regional firewalls, provide auditing and compliance."
"AlgoSec is able to provide a consistent view into all of an organization's firewalls, regardless if the management is done by different companies."
"One of the quick wins is to view our device status easily, with out-of-the-box dashboards and charts."
"The solution is easy to navigate."
"The ability to manage a large number of firewalls from a single point is most valuable."
"Overall, the functionality was very good."
"What I like most about this solution is that it allows me to push multiple policies on multiple followers at the same time."
"The threat prevention and layer seven security features were the most used and important for us. All operations are quite good in this solution."
"It's great for creating signatures and activating activities."
"The most valuable feature is WildFire."
"Templates and the possibility to apply a configuration to many devices at the same time are the most valuable features. We are able to create templates, and we don't need to go to each firewall to make changes. We can make changes in Panorama, and it automatically applies those changes to all those firewalls on which we want to apply the changes. It provides centralized management."
"Panorama provides management functionalities."

Cons

"Certain firewalls don't integrate with AlgoSec, and it would be great if this bug could be fixed."
"There could be certain improvements such as supporting secure email."
"The interface is more on the complex side."
"Initially, we found this as a complex deployment."
"The product should support more vendors with the same in-depth analysis that it already is providing. This would give more reasons to for other companies to adopt it."
"Creating more intuitive menus could be helpful, especially for first-time users."
"Priority should be to improve the user interface for the risk and compliance part, making it more responsive and user-friendly."
"The risk matrix implementation is not easy from an Excel file, so it would be nice to have a solution for creating it directly within the web interface."
"The price of Palo Alto Networks Panorama could be better."
"The customer support needs to be better."
"It would be beneficial to improve the capabilities of Panorama to handle logs more efficiently, potentially reducing the need for additional local collectors. Adding more predefined dashboards as features would enhance the monitoring and reporting capabilities."
"There is room for improvement in the graphical user interface (GUI), which is becoming outdated, especially the NAT section."
"The solution could improve by having a true single pane of glass environment for unified management. At the present time, you still have to use three or four different solutions to bring everything together."
"The integration between Strata Cloud Manager and Panorama could be enhanced to allow customers to stay on Panorama for many years while still utilizing Strata Cloud Manager for deployment."
"The dual WAN functionality is missing in this solution."
"An area for improvement would be the connectivity, which sometimes means logs can be slow to display."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing is great if you have a small number of large firewalls, otherwise, it does not bring ROI."
"Pricing is easy to grasp."
"The pricing could be better."
"Use the entire suite for its best benefits."
"Quality has a price."
"The pricing is good. Though, I would like if pricing could better support small businesses."
"AlgoSec may be little pricier with its licenses, but it is probably better than any of other competitors."
"My advice is that you must do a POC and show value."
"The pricing is pretty average. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate it a five."
"We pay approximately $3,000 a year in order to use the product."
"The price of the licenses could be lower. Still, because we have Panorama with 25 firewalls, Palo Alto gives us a good discount."
"The solution is relatively cheap; I rate it four out of five for affordability."
"The product's pricing is high but flexible. It now follows the pay-per-use pricing model. I would rate the tool's pricing a five out of ten."
"We're a reseller, and we're an MSSP. So, we get some extreme discounts."
"The licensing is not cheap. There are always hidden costs. You have support costs, or maybe you need to buy more optics on how the solution fits into the rest of your environment. It is possible some of the rest of your environment will need to change too."
"The solution is priced well and there is a license for this solution that we pay annually for."

Hi Dear Anouar, I want to explain something to avoid misunderstanding. Palo Alto Networks (PAN) Panorama is the management dashboard for Palo Alto Firewalls; which is provided by PAN and comes with a license. However AlgoSec is used as a Firewall Analyzer tool to analyze firewall rules according to their severities, configuration mistakes, shadowing or redundant rules, etc. If you want a solution to analyze your firewalls and harden them; you can consider preferring a firewall analyzer solution. If you want to manage your firewall configurations, create rules, routes, etc., you can prefer to have PAN panorama; instead of managing the firewalls by connecting each of them separately.
