Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The CDN and the WAF features are the best.""I like that the charges are all based on usage and labor costs. For the time that we spend onboarding almost 252020 FQDN, Akamai charges us only for the traffic usage, but it's only charging us for the labor costs for onboarding.""The most valuable feature is the DDoS protection, which is the main reason we got it.""The features are powerful and better than F5.""I have contacted the support team of Akamai... I am happy with their responses and answers to my problems.""Adaptive stream delivery and WAF protection are valuable.""The dashboard is the most interesting feature of the Akamai portal where you can have a detailed analysis of all the attacks that are happening. You can drill down an issue and see exactly what is happening, who are the bad guys attacking your website, and how Akamai is protecting the website. That is the most valuable feature.""Everything will be handled by Akamai's system before it reaches our infrastructure."

"NGINX App Protect is stable.""NGINX App Protect has complete control over the HTTP session.""It's very easy to deploy.""The most valuable feature of NGINX App Protect is its open source.""The most valuable feature of NGINX App Protect is the reverse proxy.""The most valuable feature of NGINX App Protect is its flexibility.""It is a very good tool for load balancing.""WAF is useful to track mitigation, inclusion, prevention, and the parametric firewall."

Cons
"A lot of piracy happens in India and other countries. If there is a product for protection from piracy, it would be great. For example, there are multiple hackers that hack your event, and there are some channels that pirate and publish the event on some other website. We protect our streaming through DRM and different technologies. We are also protecting the website, but hacking is still happening. If they can work on protecting from piracy, it would be great.""The performance of the cloud monitoring tool is low.""One thing I asked them is to integrate the API discovery product that they have and push that data into Akamai App and API Protector so that we do not have two types of reviews to identify the type of traffic. We already know the APIs that are frequently getting used, so analysis becomes easier. We can integrate both products and use them.""We are experimenting with EdgeWorkers to write our own code at the Edge level. It could grow to be much better.""They are already very flexible, but room for improvement is there. Reports generation could be better and should be improved.""One area where Akamai can improve is the captcha part. Cloudflare provides a captcha if there are a certain number of threats. For example, I can assign that if there are 10 requests within a second from a single IP, it should send a captcha to the user. The user should fill in the captcha, and only after that, the user should be able to access our website. This captcha feature should be built into Bot Manager. I love this captcha feature of Cloudflare.""The custom rules must be improved.""The product should provide a secure NTP."

"The integration of NGINX App Protect could improve.""Areas for improvement would be if NGINX could scan for vulnerabilities and learn and update the signatures of DoS attacks.""The product's user interface is an area with shortcomings as it can be quite confusing for users, making it an area where improvements are required.""The setup of NGINX App Protect is complex. The full process took one week to complete. Additionally, we had to change the network infrastructure platform which took one month.""Its technical support could be better.""They could provide a better user interface.""NGINX App Protect could improve security.""The dashboard could provide a more comprehensive view of the status of the connections."
